Blocking Reiki?

Has anyone had an experience where you offer Reiki to a family member and they don't feel very much, but feel much more from a Reiki practitioner outside the family? Wondering if close family issues/baggage can precipitate sub conscious blocking of the energy?
I would think so. Experiences?

feather,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- one of my early Teachers, not primarily a Reiki person, demonstrated to me and taught me to block energy

- his first demonstration was quite dramatic - to me

>:-}}

- while I was engaged in the Reiki Crown position, he in shivasana, I noticed that the energy stopped flowing to him - then I felt my hand go cold, I mean ice cold - then my arm went cold up to the elbow

- he openned his eyes, laughed, and asked if my shoulder needed cooling off as well

bagl

- but, yes, it is also possible that Unconscious (or hidden) intention could hinder acceptance of the energy

- but, be sure that there are no issues with you as well around doing Reiki for family

What a great learning experience you had.
I do feel clear when I offer and/or give Reiki to family members. There are indeed times when I don't feel like it, then I don't offer. I am very mindful of not attaching to outcome once I start the Reiki....I just focus on being Reiki.
Thanks,
Feather

feather,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- yes, really quite startling (and at the time I had begun to feel I actually knew a little about energy and intention)

bagl

- since we accept that unconscious intentions\agendas may sneak into our work, even when we are being as mindful as possible, it is possible that non-family folk who do Reiki for your family member will have fewer, if any, 'unconscious' issues related to your family where you may have some of which you may not be entirely aware

- we all are influenced by the Unconscious in ways we do not see

True enough.
Wonder if that is why the shoemaker's kids go barefoot?

Otoharo!

There is also the opposite of this. The receiver can block receiving from you particularly while accepting from others. Works both ways.

Yes! My husband won't let me in consciously but will let me or another work without his knowledge. He has given me permission to work on him as long as he doesn't know it:))

Has he been able to tell when someone is sending Reiki to him???

I block reiki to myself, othertimes when not conciously intentionly I feel the flow. A family member says i'm good when giving her reiki, although the last time she asked i begged off because I didn't feel like it.
I'm just too lazy to give myself some or ask for it, and if any of you good people decided to send me any just for the fun of i, I'd probably block because I don't feel like I deserve.

jaguar, I am so glad you used those words. That is what I am going through last night and today. The person I most trust told me my music is blah, blah blah, just pulling the rug out from under me. It is hard to love myself today. Hard, hard.

Wow, you just struck a cord.
I am thinking that maybe the "I don't deserve" block is pretty common. That was a profound statement.
Thanks for sharing,

Dear Jaguar,

Whatever flowers or thorns one may have, healing helps in bringing thorns down and nurturing the flowers. There , may be, are very few people in this universe,who have only flowers and therefore do not NEED healing. But as far as to desrve healing, i feel everyone in this universe DESERVES healing.

How can a Jaguar be LAZY!! How can bliss be SAD!!

He says he can feel me sending when I put my hand on his back but no, he does feel it, consciously, when I or another send without his knowing. I don't take advantage of this permission. It was during a major surgery for him 2 years ago that this came about.

But yes, I chuckle about it myself.

I agree, a profound statement indeed. That is precisely why some people just don't heal. I find it so very sad though that some think they are not worthy.

Last weekend I was very negative, very angery, confused bitter, the whole nine yards; I decided to feel these emotions with such vigour because I felt if I tried to supress them in any way they'd just linger on for longer than I'd like to cope. Maybe by doing so I burnt my negativity out for this week I'm in a better frame of mind. Thankfully.
As to deserving, I'm taking little steps to remedy that.I'm enjoying the sensation to it's nth degree, and eventually I reason that'll burn out as well.I'm not going to beat myself up about it too much. It's just there.
Sometimes I feel we need to have these bottoming out feelings to appreciate fully the good times when they come along.
To acknowledge your feelings of failings is the first step, and even if we don't go beyond our awarness of it straight away, It's okay.
Maybe tomorrow I'll feel different, but for today, I'm okay.
Sounds like a Reik principle. :@)

Tracey,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- as long as he has given his permission for you to do distance reiki for him it really does not matter whether you tell him each time or not (the latter being his preference according to the permissions)

Still, I know his views and prefer to not take advantage of his permission. It was, after all, for recovery from surgery, not for anytime "I" think he needs it.

My dear Firekeeper,

So kind of you...

The clan is wonderful, thank you for asking.

:-)

A blessing to have such a teacher.

And a real wake up call to the power of intention.

:-)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm always amazed...

:-)

Mammabear

Most definitely:)

I also get those who come to my home for reiki and then totally block me out. Go figure, we are all ready to heal in our own time. I am greatful for meeting these people and send up a prayer for their healing at some point.

Smiles,
Tracey
