Arms and Legs

Just to carry on about positions, I work the arms and legs as well as the regular chakra points. I noticed that these were not addressed in Finality's post from Furamoto.

Do others work the arms and legs?

I have found that many emotional issues are felt in the arms and legs, around joints, in the hands, etc. I also find that holding a clients hand and letting reiki flow after completing the arm is a wonderful feeling and that the client will often grasp my hand tighter, cry, or be otherwised moved by this. For some it is a tenderness they rarely experience. I have been moved to tears at times by the transfer of energy.

I work the legs and then the feet last, grasping the feet firmly and grounding. I do this more gently at the beginning of my sessions.

Would anyone like to share their other techniques that may not be "traditional"?

Tracey,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- yes, the connnective tissue in the arms and legs (as well as elsewhere) can be a 'repository' for emotional energy baggage - one of the virtues of myofascial release is to work on this

- as for energy work on the hands??

- a major meridian connects the hands and the heart

- as I always say, sometimes: "hold someone's hand (with permission, of course), touch their heart"

Dear Dakota,

Holding another's hand is intimate and exquisitely relaxing. It is harder to conceal emotions, thoughts & energy when our hands touch. (Like looking into someone's eyes & glimpsing their soul when their everyday mask slips a bit). Pretty hard to be defensive when someone is working your hand. :)
Im relaxing just reading your post!

peace & joy,

Otoharo!

My only experience of this is during a share when so many hands are on at the same time. Also, when some non reiki person is present at a share, we have them at the feet because the energy goes out and then comes in so that non-reiki person gets reikied.

I had a dream differernt people in the dreams who lost limbs. Is this relevent to my psyche? This has probably nothing to do with disscussion.

Dear Tracey,

I begin most sessions by holding the recipient's hand lightly. I've always done this intuitively as I feel it is a good way to make that energetic connection. In that moment of standing at their side, holding their hand, I quiet my mind to begin the session and hold my intent.

I always work on the legs and am often drawn to the knees in particular. I find that a lot of stress is held in the legs and knees.

I have seen some hand positions for the knees and ankles with a few variations.

I usually do not use them myself as the other front and back positions seem fine to me.

Never felt drawn to Reiki the arms at all.

Hi Tracey,

Yes I have always worked on arms and legs as well during a treatment.

Something that I am often 'drawn' to do, although they are not 'traditional' hand placements is to place one hand on a shoulder, whilst placing my other hand on the opposite hip and then swapping to the other shoulder and hip after a few minutes. I also like to place a hand on the hip and foot simultaneously when treating legs(if the energy feels stagnent in the legs).

I'm not really sure why, other than to say that when using these hand postions. it feels like completing an electrical circuit, if that makes any sense. It feels very balancing both to me and the person receiving :)

Gentle Blessings
Helen
