Good morning,

I' am new here....

As a "newer" Reiki Master, it seems that most people start their own business , instead of working with others, or at a place like a spa, etc.

I would like to generate some discussion on the pro and con on each...

interested in any imput...

thanks S

Hi,

Welcome to the cafe :)

I practice Reiki on a personal level rather than professionally so I don't feel qualified to comment, but hopefully others here will be able to put forward the pros and cons.

Gentle Blessings
Helen

Otoharo!

I already had an office as I gave readlings and had classes. So I just offered reiki to my clinets. Efter retirement, I continued working out of my home. Now I am fully reitred. I never worked with someone else.

Nature Girl,

One benefit for working at a spa is that you would have more exposure to clients that go to the spa for other services. The downside is that you would most likely have to pay a little more money to the spa owner (usually a percentage of your receipts for your services rendered) for the use of the space at the spa compared to using your own space (such as your own house or apartment).

Namaste,

Dear Nature Girl,

No, there haven't been any issues regarding giving treatments at home; although I have been mostly giving treatments to family, friends, and others that were referred to me. However, I am sure there are a lot of people out there that would be more comfortable having a treatment at a reputable spa than at a stranger's home (a stranger at first, anyway).

Namaste,

Nature Girl,

Failte.

I have been a master practitioner for some 5 years now and have never worked in a "Spa"-type setting.

All my treatments have been given at my home or that of my "client". I have never experienced any issues with boundaries in either setting. I tend to give treatments in my lounge, which is quiet and peacefull and induces a sense of well-being in my "clients".

Hope this helps a little.

Hi, I do both, work from my room at home and give courses all over France, and travel to give treatment if it is needed....I'm lucky having a room at home to work from, but I find this mix and match system works well for me but takes a little more organising. Good luck!
