Hi,
Just wanted to get opionions on a statement someone made at a Reiki share that they have been doing Reiki since birth. We were asked how long we had been doing it.

A part of my reiki I class, had the statement that we bring reiki in with us, after we have had it once before. My soul mate did so, but I had to learn it fresh.

- how does this person know he\she has been 'doing reiki' since birth? Does he\she have recall of infancy? For myself? I would doubt it

- this is similar to some few who claim to have been 'born attuned' - stuff and nonsense, I feel - an excuse for short cuts and making claims to be able to do Reiki that are not warranted

- unless such folk were attuned while in-utero (which I do not feel can be done as fetuses lack the intention to receive an attunement) then one cannot be 'born attuned'

- remember, Reiki is the practice of accessing ULE and passing it on to others by means of the various hand placememts or by distance practices following specific attunements (or Reiju)

- without knowledge of the symbols and hand placements and in the absence of attunements (excepting Reiju, of course) there are many who will say that it is unlikely that someone practices Reiki without this knowledge and training

- I fall into that category

- we reincarnate with soul and Karma - one is not reincarnated a Reiki Master (that is a training and experience designation) - though I suppose someone who returns (by choice) as living bodhisattvah might be gifted with the ability to practice Reiki without the formal training - perhaps this is what happened with Usui Sensei??

- was he living bodhisattvah?? I, for one, certainly do not know

- and, rememeber, all energy work is not Reiki so there may be other natural gift involved

Dear Prosperity,
All we really "know" is what we sense/perceive during Reiki & the outcome as described by the recipient or what we ourselves observe. That doesnt mean the conclusion we reach, our interpretation of events, is correct. Adults in command of all their faculties are challenged to see beyond their conclusions/beliefs, etc. As we go through life we let go of some beliefs & open to new ones. Even in our advanced years, we older humans are not very sophisticated in relation to the Universe,but an infant is even less so.

People make claims all the time. If one infant can do Reiki from birth than why dont we all do thee same? The statement that person made is reeking with ego.

I think you are being judgemental here. There is an evolution of sorts going on. When someone remembers having been a RM, I am going to believe, especially the younger people.

So, if I walk up to you, yourself never having met himself, and say I am a re-incarnated Reiki Master you are going to believe me? Well, good luck with that. Be sure to carry some protection with you (and leave your $$$ at home).

Holobon, you are correct probably in most instances. the only instance of which I have personal knowledge is that my soul mate has had reiki since her first lifetime eons ago. Nevertheless, in this lifetime, it was not until she was attuned that her recall began to work. We have coroboration on that from Xaris who was her first mother. Otherwise, my teacher got from her teacher that once we have reiki it remains in us. It would likely be in our dna if this is true. In the case of my soul mate, this is definetly no ego. She has never succombed to ego.

RC, in our terminology, we routinely talk about having reiki as in reiki I. It does not translete into this master business and money.

I felt a bit disgusted to be honest. It was if this person was doing competition with everyone and made the statement after everyone stated how long we had done it. In fact this person was the one who asked the question. Just wondered if others felt the same or was it just me.

Since I don't feel this born (or re-born) attuned business is anything but so much hooey I would be more inclined to challenge (politely, of course) such a statement with a question or two. Making claims such as this ranks fairly far down on my list of things about which to feel disgusted. I would, however, feel wary of such a person from that point on unitl my reasons for caution might be allayed.

You could be right, as you can always find some truth in what people say even if it's just that they believe what they are saying is true for them.

RC., I only meant that what I was sharing about my soul mate as having reiki was not about being a master and out for business. It was only the feeling she has for reiki, about reiki, etc. Reiki as the energy, not the system, not the business angle. when I reread the first statement, I realize the implication of a sort of bid for business or even just one-up-man-ship he may have been playing.
