How do you help someone using Reiki when that person tells you they believe the've been under a spell/curse?
Would you go ahead and have a regular Reiki session? Or would you have a talking session with them hoping that would help the person gain another perspective on what is going on?
Blessings,
Whatever

Dear Whatever,
I would personally do both. The reiki would certainly relax them, since they unddoubtedly have much anxiety. Afterwards, when they are more open to it, I would talk to them.

Roxy

Dear Whatever,
Would ask them why they thought that and go from there. Their statement alone would not stop me from offering Reiki, if that is what they wished. I would not suggest to them that Reiki might "break" a spell. My concern, if I did not know the person or had not Reikied them before and they appeared to have heightened fears about the "unseen" influence of others, is how Reiki would be perceived by them in relation to spells, power, energy, etc.
peace & joy,
holobon

Yes, Holobon, that's my concern too.
I think if someone feels they 've been cursed they might be carrying some unconscious guilt. But should I bring this up?
You 're probably right both of you. Combination therapy should work better than just talking.

Whatever

- I would try to assess the basis for such a belief since most people are not likely to be the target of harmful magic (though it can happen) and if the person persists try to assess his\her idea of the source and nature of the 'spell\curse' (there are ways to defeat curses and spells)
- so, depending on my sense of all the information, possible symptoms observed, and my sense of the person referral to a reliable shamanic practitioner might be inorder
- the curse or spell might actually be an issue of loss of Soul fragments or acquisition of fragments of someone else's Soul (such occurrences are largley, but not always, 'unintentional')
- if the issues are more purely emotional\psychological then Reiki and talk may help - referral for counseling or psychotherapy might also be considered
- hope this helps

Dear Whatever,
Saying that would be considered therapy, which you are not qualified to do. I would suggest finding a gentle way of telling her Reiki won't affect a curse, and suggesting that she seek therapy, though.
Blessings,
Roxy

Otoharo!
I add to what Holobon is saying. When I am the client, it is better for me if all the talking takes place before reiki so that I can go home in the sweet reiki aftermath. Otherwise, they get back into it before going home.

Roxy, how do you know that Reiki wouldn't affect(reverse) the curse? Isn't Reiki supposed to work with all conditions?
Firekeeper, I would like to pose the same question to you.
Blessings,
Whatever

Dear Whatever,
At one point in my life, I did witchcraft, although never a curse. I do know how they work though.
It's an external influence that needs to be counteracted externally. Reiki only works internally.
Blessings,
Roxy

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by externally/internally?
Also, aren't curses supposed to be reversed thru forgiveness?
And what I said about unconscious guilt on the part of the person affected by the curse, do you agree? I mean would a spiritual master ever be affected by a curse? I believe not.
Blessings,
Whatever

Dear Whatever,
I will answer your question, but it's best discussed in an email. I will drop you a note when I'm more focused, and my arm is sufficiently rested.
Blessings,
Roxy

whatever,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- sorcery is an ancient art and not always employed for healing purposes
- even 'spiritual masters' (whatever 'master' signifies) could be affected by the work of a 'masterful' sorcerer
- but, on an every day basis sorcerers tend to deal with more everyday matters and focus their work where the reuslts may be easiest to attain (including charging for their services)
- sorceres also have to feed the bulldog, afterall
- and even if some 'spiritual master' were attacked with sorcery you don't think we would hear about it, do you??

I would consider referring them to someone who is experienced in clearing entities. If they feel that something is in their energy field, then they at the very least have negative thought forms there. I would clear them. I have training in this, but if you don't, by all means refer them on to someone who does.
Peace,
Feather

Yes, Roxy, I 'll send you an email and we can take it from there. Thanak you :)
Firekeeper, I believe this world is an illusory one. Our bodies, our surroundings if properly understood are part of that optical illusion. Same goes for many of our beliefs when they do not side with the Truth(yes, of course there is ONE TRUTH ultimately).
Even tho I was raised a Christian, I do not embrace many of Christianity's dogmatic beliefs. Still, I believe in the core of Jesus' teachings. Yes, a spiritual master like Jesus would not be affected by black magic. Shared belief in certain powers makes them work. If you withdraw that belief, it cannot affect you. Naturally, the withdrawal of that belief has to take place on all levels of your being, not just your conscious mind.
I have asked a couple of people about it including a Sufi Master. His exact words were: if you are not afraid of it, it can't work.
Feather, thank you. Ultimately, I believe the mind(when illuminated) is the ultimate healer. But if a person cannot trust in that, then going to a shaman might be helpful.
Blessings,
Whatever
