Greetings,
Has anyone heard of 10th degree Reiki? One person I've talked to has a teaching of first it was 10th degree. Now it's Reiki in 10 one hour sessions.
peace,
Prosperity

Hi Prosperity
There is a place on the internet where you can get Attunements up to Usui Reiki 10. There is no training mind you, just an attunement.
Strangly enough Usui, Hayashi or Mrs Takata never had levels that high, so my thoughts on the validity ? LOL have a guess lol

prosperity,
Hi,
Yes, I have heard of it. In my estimation it is a rather artifical extension of the idea of attunements and seems modelled after martial arts systems which have degree 'levels'. However, the martial arts levels require training, practice and then examination before being graduated to a new 'degree' or 'belt' (depending on the discipline). And one must present oneself before one or more Masters to complete an advancement; no such thing as distance Aikido advancements.
LOL
So, if one gets hands-on training and attunements in Usui Reiki 1, 2 and if so invested, Reiki Master, then one has more than enough to work with for the remainder of one's life. Personally, I feel all this 10th degree business is just so much stuff and nonsense.
Cheers,
RC

Maybe since Reiki is limitless, but Then maybe the 3 levels we know of is being taught in ten stages, so a person thinks he is getting value for money when instead its all a cod. Distant reiki? possible, and limitless to a persons imagination, intellect and intent. Distant attunements? Probability liable to same. But you could put your hand blindly down a deep dark hole, and pull a rabbit out as much as a pile of maggots. You never know what your're going to get.
Personally, I wouldn't trust it.
Attention seeker.

Dear RC,
Yes I agree that it sounds like it's modeled possibly after Gigong maybe, though I don't know much about Gigong.

prosperity,
Hi,
I am not sure, but I do not think Qi Gong has specified levels designated as 1st degree, 2nd degree, etc but I may be wrong. I am sure the devoted Qi Gongers hereabouts will fill us in.
Cheers,
RC

Dear Prosperity,
Have you ever searched "Reiki" on eBAy? There are attunements to the most absurd "reikis" you've ever seen. Personally, I think all those things are either money or ego based.
Rock On!

FWIW, I don't know of any qigong schools that have formal "degrees" like 1st, 2d, 3d, etc., but then some people are making stuff up all the time. Anyway, traditional qigong schools, similar to traditional Chinese martial art schools, don't have rank/belt systems. They might, though, have designations of master (the head of a school), lineage disciple (chosen to learn and eventually propagate all of the master's knowledge), and indoor student (chosen to learn at least a substantial part of the master's knowledge).

Bruce,
Hi,
Decent, reliable information is worth a good bit.
:)
But, doesn't 10th Degree sound awesome? I mean, who wouldn't want to be taught by someone who is 10th Degree? Or maybe even higher?
LOL
Stuff and nonsense to the Nth Degree, more likely.
Cheers,
RC

Ahhhhh, Roxy,
Hi.
And, so too do some claimants wish and hope that there will be folks who believe they will be taught by a 10th degree onethingoranother
LOL

Dear Roxy,
I did look at the e-bay site and although the ads are creative how does anyone know the authenticity? This is partially the reason why the government wants to regulate it due to lack of credentials by some who take the ball and run with it so to speak to make money. Oi vey!
peace,
