Reiki and pregnancy

Namaste All.

Now I know that it is said that Reiki can do no harm, but I was talking to a spiritual healer the other day and she told me that they do not treat pregnant women.

The reason she gave is that the energy treats the pregnancy as something that needs healing and can cause miscarriage.

Has anyone heard of this?

I treated a pregnant lady about 3 weeks ago and visualised the baby wrapped in protective white light, I also asked my Guide to provide protection for the baby. Is this sufficient?....I am a bit nervous now of treating pregnant ladies since hearing this.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Helen,

Namaste.

Yes, there are mixed views on this - anywhere from reiki everyone whether they ask for it or not :-}} to only when direct permission is given.

For pregnancies my guideline is the mother's wishes and then my sense of things in the presense of the expectant one.

If the mother gives permission I find no problems with Reiki for her and the child. If she does not want the child to receive but wants herself - do it that way. I see not problems.

Some are concerned about "who" gives permission for the unborn child. I am one of those. I follow these guidlines "most of the time". :-}}

-- the fetus is "with the Mother" until the cord is cut and then it is on its own (for better or for worse). If the mother says no reiki for baby then I will respect that.

Miscarriages occur. That a miscarriage may have once occurred during or after energy work is not an indication of causality.

But, if you are not comfortable doing something -- then don't. Simple as that.

But try not to fog your Mindfulness and Intent with doubts -this will never help any work you do.

Hope this helps.

I have been giving my daughter Reiki for several months now. She is now 6 1/2 months pregnant. She really enjoys the relaxation and the baby seems to like it as well. This hasn't been the easiest pregnancy for her. She started early labor one day recently and Reiki helped stop it. (yes, she was in the emergency room as well) Basically my daughter believes that it kept her calm through a very stressful time for her. She is also thankful for the rest she gets and relief from muscle strain when getting Reiki. The baby likes it because he calms down and moves to my hands. When I touch her tummy now and don't do Reiki he cuddles up to my hand and then kicks until I do Reiki. (a Reiki junkie maybe?) It will be interesting to meet this person face to face in January.
I don't think this answers your questions, but this is what is happening in my life.

Perhaps it is I who did not address your questions satisfactorily.

But , it sounds as if you have your daughter's permission to to reiki..... so...... does she know yet if it is boy or girl? :-}}

My best thoughts for all of you.

Firekeeper,

Namaste.

Many thanks, in this instance I felt that it was important to protect the baby....although as I was giving the treatment, baby moved towards the energy, which mum confirmed at the end of the treatment :)

You have a wonderful knack of clearing away the fog and making things a lot clearer...Thank you, much appreciated :)

Hi Carolyn,

Namaste.

Many thanks, I appreciate your help.

During the treatment the baby moved towards the energy, as I placed my hands on mum's tum....wonderful stuff :)

My own baby daughter is just a year old and sometimes when I hold her, the Reiki just flows....she seems to call on it when she needs it :) I wish that I had been attuned to Reiki when she was first born, as she had a traumatic birth and I believe that it would have been of great benefit to her that first day.

I'm sure that your grandchild will recognize you the minute you hold him, as he has been so responsive to the Reiki :)

Be sure and let us know when he arrives in January.

Firekeeper,

Her doctor says it is a boy. I will believe when he makes his appearance. (I do intend to be there) They have named him Trystin James Michael (they have a thing about three names) He is already loved and an active part of the family.
My daughter not only gives me permission but insists on daily Reiki from me. (this will only be until they move into their own place) I think then she will find ways to have Reiki often.
She says Trystin responds to my touch and 'cuddles' up to my hand. Reiki also helps the muscles around the bottom of her stomach relax and quit hurting. It is a major stress reliever for her. It seems to also relax Trystin.
