Is this normal???

Hello all,

My SIL went back for a second visit with the questionable reiki practitioner she saw last week. I was a little surprised since her first visit was so odd. Anyway, she called me a question that I could not answer...so here goes. She says that the practitioner blows on her (my SIL) during the treatment. She says she blows directly on her on and off throughout the entire 30 minutes. I haven't heard of this. Does anyone know what she is doing?

Blessings,

Nicole

Nicole,

I would ask, Why is this practitioner questionable?

There is a technique 'healing with the breath' that some more traditional styles teach. This may be what they were doing but the best person to ask is the practitioner who 'blew' on your SIL

If you want information on more traditional types of Reiki rather than the Diane Stien and other new age and/or wican types try a search on your engine for aetw and have a look at James Deacon's site.

Walk in beauty,
Rebecca

Thank you for the insight. I didn't realize that there were so many different styles.

Using Reiki through the breath is pretty standard stuff in my experience. I have used it intuitively for years and find that when I receive Reiki from any number of practitioners, they often do the same. It is referred to as "Koki ho" in information on Japanese Reiki practice. It plays a huge part in the attunement process.

Greetings,
Yes I have had the experience of feeling breath and blowing on or into some of my chakra's or just the head chakra as part of the initiation attunement with 1st and 2nd degree. My third degree teacher who was a different RM did not do this and she did not really do initiation attunements. Just the hands-on with the symbols. I have found her to be more questionable than the other 2 RM's. But it is normal in my opionion to be skeptical.
thanks,

There is a technique in Usui Reiki called "the purple breath", heals by blowing. Purple colour has always been strongly in touch with healing purposes.
