Hello
I have had several Reiki healing sessions with one practitioner and always felt wonderfully blissful for a bit afterward. I felt tingling sensations in my arms and hands and everything seemed wonderful in my world.
I then went looking for a teacher and located a wonderful gentleman to finally teach me Reiki. He and I hit it off immediately and I felt like I had known him all of my life. I was extremely comfortable and thought I found the perfect person to teach me. About a week after meeting this guy I had a dream/nightmare of rats crawling all over my body. I'm not afraid of rats by nature, but this dream really made me a bit upset. I didn't really think anything more of it and just thought it was my imagination. Well-I decided to allow him to give me a Reiki healing session and when he was working either on my throat or heart Chakra I got this overwhelming troubled feeling and seen rats. I had to concentrate hard on something else or I would have bolted right out of the room. I am really trying hard to dismiss this feeling as it makes me sad that I think it is him that I don't trust. I really respect him and enjoy the spiritual things that he is teaching me, but this nags at me.
I also don't feel any post Reiki bliss and am a bit crankier then normal.
What could this be all about? Is it MY health, trust issue problems or is my intuition warning me of him?

Hi Mupiel,
The following is from a dream site posted under the resources board some time ago. It has been a wonderful reference for my dreams. I hope it helps.
"Rats
To see rats in your dream, signifies feelings of doubts, guilt and/or envy. You are having unworthy thoughts that you are keeping to yourself but are eating you up inside. Alternatively, it denotes repulsion. The dream may also be a pun on someone who is a rat.
To see a black rat, represents deceit and covert activities.
To see a white rat in your dream, denotes that in your time of distress, you will receive assistance from an unexpected source.
To dream that a rat is biting your feet, symbolizes the rat race that you are experiencing in your waking life."
Blessings,
Tracey

Dear M,
It sounds like you've done well to look at this from several sides instead of flying off on the first emotional tangent / reaction. Reiki as we know (endevour to know) now is still in a very embrionic stage in relationship our current collective human experience. Even the best of the best Reiki practitioners will tell you that they don't fully understand it. The practitioners that boldly declare thier Reiki mastership are the one's be wary of.
Reiki chanelling is big time dependant on the Mindfulness of the practioner. It is the Mindfulness of the practitioner that faciltates whether you get clear Reiki and/or some energetic slop that you don't want or need. That been said it sounds like your Higher and Lower Self are indicating that you should move on.
Namaste,
Michael

mupiel,
Hi,
Is there some reason you did not ask the practitioner after whose sessions you felt so blissful to do your Reiki 1 teaching? Was this person not a Reiki 'Master'?
I have to agree with Arati and add that the mindfulness of the recipient of Reiki practices is also crucial vis a vis how the energy is received and used by, in this case, you.
The rats dream could be alerting you to energies that are foreign to you, so to speak. That you also saw rats during the Reiki session with the fellow in question might also suggest that the energy in the session was more than simply channeling of ULE. Personal energy could have been involved as well (his as well as yours).
Since you really seem hopeful about this guy perhaps have another Reiki session or two with him to test the waters a little further. If the rats reappear or some other untoward occurrence arises then perhaps a course of action is being suggested to you.
Cheers,
RC

She is a Master, but doesn't have the time to teach a class right now.
Thank you for all of your thoughts on this topic.

Could you explain this a bit more? I'm not sure what you are saying. ;)
As in Reiki energy not coming thru the practitioner, but from?

mupiel,
Hi,
It is possible that the teacher is 'polluting', so to speak, the Reiki practices with his own, personal energy. This would be, largley, a problem reflecting a lack of mindfulness. Reiki practices are supposed to be about bringing ULE to the recipient; and only ULE.
Cheers,
RC

Otoharo!
I agree that other than reiki energy is involved either from the practitioner or from within yourself. That is not to put yourself down about, but to simply wait and see until it becomes clear. Spirit does not mean ever to bring you something you can not understand.

You say
"I am really trying hard to dismiss this feeling as it makes me sad that I think it is him that I don't trust."
I've learned the hard way not to dismiss my feelings. Another most difficult lesson is learning to trust myself. The world has handed me some tough outcomes to demonstrate the importance of listening to that quiet inner voice. Still am learning to discern which is the fearful naysayer voice, and which is the true heart's wisdom speaking. Absolutes are hard to come by in this Universe.
No one of us can tell you what is your heart's wisdom. Watch and listen, maybe ask questions. Spend time just contemplating = "what do rats mean to me?".
Whatever happens, you will be wiser, because you'll be able to compare events to your intuition.
Blessings,
Aronaya
