Dispirited

Ok I need to winge.
I am trying to build up a pracitce and it just ain't happening. I'm trying ads, I've offered to work n the local hospital, I have a web site......but it ain't happening. Is this my lesson, to be patient? I know I'm not. I'm finding it hard to tread the fine line of trusting the universe to send me what I need and being out there making the oportunities so it can. Anyone else been here? Any advice? How can I get Reiki across to the French? Should I stop battling and just be, or get out there and make my chances? My head is exhausted with trying to find the right path.....HELP! please.

Otoharo!

Ms. Furumoto said in the nineties that the times when one could make a profession out of Reiki are over.

I usually get a call when I have an ad in the paper. But after two years, none of those who came continued. I am retired now.

annie,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- I do not know where in France you are located (large, meduim, or small city\town) but one way to set up shoppe is to rent a little space from someone who already has a store front

- negotiate for some space to set up a Reiki table with a little privacy with folks who have a tanning salon, beauty parlor, massage clinic, etc, etc

- then be flexible enough to do Reiki in smaller doses such as 1\4-hour sessions - chair Reiki might be another optin as well

- this might tap into folks waiting for another appointment (to get hair done or whatever) and perhaps take advantage of other walk-in business as well if the shoppe would be willing to post a sign in the window that Reiki is offered

- good luck

Thanks Firekeeper.I had thought abotu trying the local spa as well as the hospital, I htink the biggest hurdle is teaching in a foreign language. i am competent in every day stuff but.... at least now I have pinned down the problem i can sort it!
WE ar ein Aquitaine, about half way between Toulouse and bordeaux. It is amazingly beautiful, so tranquille ( not sure of the spelling...my head is a mix of English and French!), I have a fabulous office here at home but I need to get out and get my name and face know, and let people know about Reiki. I shall make a tour of the beauty salons, ther are hundreds! and of the doctors surgeries, maybe I canbegin the never ending process of geting on the list for clients to be reimbursed. I have ideas, just no confidence!
Thank you forbothering to reply, and for being positive no one likes to have thir dreams jumped on!

Dear Annie,

It sounds like you're pushing too hard perhaps. It's understandable that you want to share the Reiki goodness. Your brief re-telling of this endevour of late suggests a condition or energy around the whole thing that is less than harmonious and centered it seems.

I would suggest that the more that you focus for now your pracise inward , the the more the bindings around this goal will be loosened.

I'm curious about this. If making a profession in reiki is no longer possible, then should the Reiki Alliance lower the rate that its members charge for third-level initiation? After all, becoming a reiki master no longer offers a chance at a profession, according to Furumoto. Any thoughts on that?

I know they were the ones who did the $10,000 thing. But I assumed that didn't go on anymore.

I was hinking of doing same, but haven't really tried to make it happen. It gives me hope though, I think I'll print out a few cv's with this in mind very positive feeling.
Annie don't worry about if your trying to hard or that it won't happen, try the different approach, explore and have fun with it.
best of luck.

Thanks everyone! While I was typing the original post several things happened, 2 e-mails arrived, one to say my web site is nearly there, and another to ask for a level 2 course! Since thenseveral people have popped up to help and to get things moving again.... perhaps sometimes we jusy have to shout louder so our requests are heard! Or maybe I just don't believe they will be answered......? All of you suggestons have been taken onboard and will be used.Thank you for the suport! It is good to know others have been there and done that before!

In my experience for myself and watching others, it takes YEARS to build up a practice. An ad is just one way of being noticed......I think it is good to have several ways of reaching people, so maybe they hear about you in at least 3 different contexts. For example, you give short treatments at the beauty parlor, you have an ad, and perhaps you give a lecture or free demonstration at a bookstore or cafe? I think it also helps to network. Try to meet alot of people doing alternative, health related work such as massage, acupuncture, nutrition, etc. Start finding them referrals. If French is a second language, that adds some challenge, but all the more learning for you!
I think it also helps to have more than one thing to offer. For example, Reiki and Reflexology, or Reiki and Aromatology. I think it sounds like you are getting some good ideas . What about parties? I have some friends who do Reiki parties.....it is best to team up with other energy workers for this. I also would suggest looking at the book, The Artist's Way, by Julia Cameron. It can pick you up when you are feeling discouraged with a path and can be very helpful in getting you back into a sense of abundance!
Good Luck,
Feather

Thanks Feather! It would be impossible to remain down with so much help and support coming my way. I do Reflex and OSM , I'm busy makin posters and brochures to take round doctors surgeries and at the end of August ( everything is shut here in August) I shall start a pop in evening once aweek for a taster session..... And then I attack the bio marches, health fod shops and anywhere else I can find!
Thanks for the book title, I'll try amazon for it. Being menopausal is very difficult at times! my Hormones haven't been this erratic since my kids were born! Hey ho at least it is finite!
