The Reiki Cafe 

I've recently read several brief articles about using crystals with reiki treatments, and since I practice reiki and have used crystals in spell work and meditation, I'd love to combine the two and see how it goes.
The "problem", if you can realy call it that, is that the few techniques that have been described require a dozen or more of the same type of crystal for gridding around the body. That is all well and good, but I don't neccesarily have dozens of crystals laying around, and I feel like there's got to be other ways of using more limited quantities for the same type of results. So....
Does anyone have any experience working with crystals and reiki together that might point me in the right direction? I've also had some dificulty finding indepth printed info on this, so a book recomendation would be lovely as well.

I do not use them, but the one who sends to me does. she lets the crystal(s) tell her whatever. Until a crystal calls to her she does not use it. or them.

I only kow about grids through Lazaris. He demonstrates a grid building on his program on the Net.

Since just before my first reiki attunement i got interested in crystals and i found this book really intersting

"The Crystal Bilble by Judy Hall"

It tells you in depth the physical and healing qualities of lots and lots of crystals. Iv never had enough of the right crystals to do all that grid stuff. but i just use whatever crystal feels right for whatever part of my body and just use it a lonside the reiki. and get some great results. I have used crystals on friends and family with reiki too. for example, just a single Rose Quartz on the heart chakra, or Citrine on the solar plexus or Amethyst for the liver.

You probably know this already but you can use the Reiki to cleanse and charge the crystals too.

I used to use citrine as well. I wonder if the crystal made me too confident at times... (I used it to feel more enthusiastic and energetic...)

By the way, how do u make sure that the crystals are properly cleansed for others to use etc...?

- it is my impression that a significant number of people who want to use crystals do not do any research on them nor work with them before trying to incorporate them into Reiki practices - crystals were not included in the original Reiki scheme of things and, despite some opinion to the contrary, cannot simply be thrown in as one might add a bit of cinnamon to one's tea or coffee

- I use such tools (obsidian sphere, for example) very infrequently but do not and would not let any one else use them

- and, the folks I have trained with and am friends with also do not 'share' tools - nor would they ask to borrow any of mine (or I theirs) - it is simply not good practice

I agree with Firekeeper: never let anyone else use your chrystals. If you use them on anyone, make sure you cleanse them well. Reiki, running water and burying them are all methods to use for cleansing.

A simple pattern using 4 chrystals: Place one above the head near the crown chakra. One by each hand. One between and just below the feet. Have someone activate the chrystals by striking gently the one above head, by left hand, the one between the feet and then the one at the right hand.

Always remove stones and chrystals after 10 minutes.

Just out of curiosity, why no longer than 10 minutes?

stones are powerful and all have their own vibrations. We use the vibrations to alter our own. Tis better to make small changes. Too great a change and you create new imbalances.

One quick comment about crystals (or whatever else one may use in addition to reiki during a session.)

I was at a reiki share once where a woman started using crystals on a recipient (who btw was a shaman)without his permission. He was very upset.

Building trust and respect between practitioner and recipient by informing them about what you are doing gives the recipient a better opportunity to more fully connect with the experience thus perhaps aid more in their healing.

And I'm sure you are wonderful at that, but felt compelled to share the experience.

I know of a RM who uses a large crystal necklace to dowse to see if a person's chakra's are attuned after doing a hands on treatment. Is this Ok to do. She never explained any thing about the crystal.

You say it is "ok to do"... perhaps you have an agreement that you trust whatever the RM feels compelled to do, or if the RM advertises they are a healer of different modalities including reiki, that's fine, but some people would be very upset if other modalities would be used without telling them first if their intention was to only receive reiki.

That would be like going to the hairdressers for a trim and ending up with a totally new hairdo because the hairstylist thought you needed it. Perhaps this would be fine for some...but not for all. And should never be assumed OK.

Respect for a persons right to control what happens to them empowers that individuals ability to heal. Healing is not something we do to people...it's something we help people to do for themselves.

We are all responsible for our own healing, afterall.

I like your point of view. Makes much sense. As this action with the crystal is just one of other actions, that together, can cause a person to become doubtful if there is secrecy around it.

I use crystals when I do distance healing. I have a quartz crystal that I hold between my hands, and it helps me to channel the energy to the person that I am intending to send reiki to. Sort of like a magnifying glass. Hope this helps.

It helps me! Thank you for sharing that info. I will have to try that too. I remember that amythest intensifies any emotion a person is having and black stones are grounding.
