Any ideas on advertising a new website about Reiki? Just curious. I've heard about the pay per click programs, but because I don't really have a budget, I am interested in any other possible options. What do all of you do -- that have websites?

Thanks, Marin

The website is your image to the world -- I believe what's most important is to represent yourself and your practice with passionate integrity. To do that, you have to think about where you want people to see your website and in what context.

I personally don't connect with any popup or other Internet-based programs. I want anyone seeing my website to feel safe that they will not be intruded on in any way. I try to create the same sanctuary on my pages as potential clients will find while lying on my table receiving Reiki -- that means calm and peaceful, with nothing electronic twinkling or beeping or flashing at them.

So, how do people find my website? I print it on my business cards and in the very few print ads I do. I've put it on a few directories that I feel are reputable in my area. Some people find me via searching for Reiki practitioners in Maine.

Your best advertising is you, in person. When you get someone interested and they ask you for a business card, make sure you have them with you, and that they have your website address on them.

Your second best advertising is word of mouth from the honest, mindful and good work you do for your clients. If they don't have your card on them, they will tell friends your name and number. If the friend forgets your phone number, they may search for you on the Internet, and ta-da! there's your website.

Blessings,
Aronaya

I intially used Free Webs (free!) so that those who received my business cards for Reiki and psychic readings can plug in and get more information than the small card can express. (business cards and brochures can be made easily on a home pc with inexpensive software). Free Webs offers nice templates, music, add ons, pay pal links, and the ability to use your pre purchased domain name.

Good luck

I think that Aronaya has covered the question nicely! I too wont add pop ups and things to my site but that is simply because when I visit a site and something pops up it annoys me and I move on lol

Submit your site to free directories and engines, recipricol links are good with anyone that has something in common with what you do and print it on your cards and advertising.

Good cheap website is MrSite if you are looking for one, that is who mine is with and its £35 a year including domain name, hosting etc and it comes with easy to use templates. Check out my site if you want an idea of what you can do with it, although my site not that good others have managed much more than I have!.

Best of luck x Ki x

hi,

thanks for replying...id definitely like to see your site-- what is the address? i think i paid around $120 for my domain, hosting and a template system also. ive submitted to endless free sites and do find that most of my traffic is from reciprocal sites. i guess it just takes time! advertising was the last thing on my mind until my site was actually finished! oh well...i learn something new each day :) have a good night, marin
