The Reiki Cafe 

Hiya everyone,
Just registered this evening. I recieved my level 3 attunement
last week and was looking for a board to do a little sharing
and learning on my journey. Found a couple of others but they didn't give me good vibes that this one did. Think I'll hang with you guys for awhile if thats ok.

I live in a small city in Canada, (Regina) so there isn't alot of Reiki teachers and classes. A couple of the ladies charge
mucho dinero for the attunements. I found one girl who recieved her level 3 by distance. I'm wondering, does this work. Her philosophy is that Usui gave his students everything at once so she does as well. She assured me that it was ok and my head wouldn't blow up.

Chris, it was a very beautiful and emotional experience for me. As in my Reiki treatments before, I saw colors (auras if you will), the three main colors are, indigo, and waves of green and white together.
As I was in meditation, hands in Gassho position, I was aware of her presence all around myself. When she stood in front of me and held my hands, I could see her hands. Her hands were were white. When my hands were placed in front of my heart, she said, "accept Cho Ku Ray into your heart",
I felt a surge of energy throughout, I gasped and tears instantly started flowing. Up to that point, I suppose it was just a ceremony, after that as the rest of the symbols were drawn on my hands and placed upon my heart, I felt a connection. After the attunement was over, I sat for awhile,
awestruck, in wonderment. I knew in my heart something out of the ordinary had happened to me.
I did a Reiki session on my Teacher before I left for the day.
Part 2.
The next day I awoke feeling refreshed and like I never had before for a long time.
I put on Merlins Magic and decided I was going to test drive this thing. Like an 18 year old kid with a 440 Challenger, I put it to the boards and went for broke, using all 3 symbols
the first time. Wham. Note to self, you're still a baby, take baby steps, no need to push it. Alot of dialogue going off in my head for the rest of the day.
Now, as I do a daily healing, I only use Cho Ku Ray. I treat myself as if I were only a level one and I know in my heart that Reiki will let me know when its time to move on.
So far my journey has just begun and it is very humbling to know that there is something out there far greater than I can ever know and just happy to be part of it and going with the flow.

As a side note.
I had a back op 8 years ago and plagued with almost daily
pain of some sort since.
Its been 5 years since I had a subarachnoid anuerism. I used to wake every morning feeling like I had a hangover. Almost made me feel I should take up drinking full time if I was going to feel like this anyway.
On the physical side, my body is healing nicely. I jump out of bed in the morning like I was a young man and my migraines are down to almost nothing. I've cut my painkillers down by three quarters.
After my aneurism, my life was given back to me. I now feel that I have something valuable to give back, which I beleive
was the natural progression that led me to toward Reiki.

Eloquent description, Terry! Can you clarify, were you describing receiving a distant attunement? Or was the teacher physically present?

Allow me to offer that, from your words, you appear to have a balanced grasp of the experience and meaning of Reiki for yourself.

Hi Aronaya and thanks. Yes, my teacher was present. I feel we have a connection, I liked her philosophy and felt comfortable with her right from the start. She had her master attunement by distance. She put together a nice master manual, basic and straight forward.
I should also add that other than the physical side of healing, I've never felt spiritually better in my entire life.
Theres been a calmness that has settled in.

- if you read Petter's researches on Usui Sensei I think you will find that there is no evidence he 'gave' his students 'everything at once'.

- the process of Rei-ju (his preferred style) simply does not work that way

- for myself? I do not do distance attunements nor do I support their use

As with distance healing you basically have no idea whos doing the healing, or don't you support that either?

- it is the requesting party who must then use the energy as best as he\she is able

- and, as in all energy work, caveat recipient

- Distance attunements are, of course, a rather different kettle of fish

- I do not support distance attunements partly because there is also no way for the person offering the attunement to know anything about the Reiki training and skill of the proposed recipient of the attunement

- and, more often than not the person asking for a distance attunement has had little or no hands on Reiki training (if the posts and comments I have read over the years were reliable reports - I mean, why would someone claim not to have any Reiki experience when requesting a distance attunement from me?)

- I will not teach or attune anyone I cannot shake hands with - certain, rare emergency situations accepted

- it is entirely unacceptable to me for anyone to put themselves forward as a Reiki Master based soley on distance attunements
