The Reiki Cafe 

Greetings, good people,
I received Reiki from a practitioner in my Reiki circle a while ago, and I kept getting visions of a looming black shadowy mass. It made me feel very uncomfortable and violated. I wanted her to stop but at the same time I wanted to see where it was going. I asked for protection from negative energy. I didn't know if it was my stuff being flushed out, or if she was carrying some scary baggage of her own.
As an empath I often have trouble separating Reiki from visions and picking up other people's "stuff".
When it was over I did some cleansing breaths and shaking-off.
I would love to hear your opinions and feedback on this.

- sounds to me as if some focused mindfulness work on sharpening your skills at sorting out 'your stuff' from 'others stuff' is is order

- spending some time on the dynamics of projection can be useful as well

- as for the looming, black shadowy mass?? If there were others present perhaps one or more also 'picked up on' this phenomenon? Inquires might be useful

- if the other Reiki practitioner was the only person there with you and you feel you may confide in her, discussing the experience may be useful for the both of you - (for example, years ago I was assisting my Reiki Master with a Reiki 2 class - part way thru while the students were practicing she asked me for some Reiki - in the process of doing a sitting Reiki for her at Heart Centre I 'saw' a black spot - I told her about it - when she got back home to Seattle she went to her physician - a scan revealed a small infarction of her heart) - which led to some treatments and life-style changes she undertook for herself

- not exactly the same as you describe, perhaps, but just to point out that the spot I saw likely was the energy representation of the infarction - so what you saw likely has some physical or emotional or thought correlate as well

- and, sharng information is important

- so, she may have sensed something as well but not said so

- but, since I was not there, I don't feel any speculation on my part would hold much water (or etheria)

If you also are a practitioner, when you see darkness of any kind simply be reiki with it until it vanishes. Even if you do not have reiki yourself, the shodowy mass may still be your own stuff creeping up. Regardless of whose stuff it is reiki is the answer. Take the course and you will have your own protection and can heal your own stuff.

In Inner Peace Movement, when a healing service was scheduled, we always had to hold it because souls hanging around earth wanting to go home, wowld come. We were obligated to provide this service to them.

Some years ago, a wise elder told a workshop group, "there is no such thing as 'ill' energy." Since he was close to a century old, and more supple and vital than most of us at the time, I gave his words a lot of thought.

What are we trying to realize, as we work, play, at healing and awakening with Reiki? If it is Oneness, then there can be nothing within that experience that is truly Other. If we see a shadow, let us first ask if it might be a projection onto the screen of our vision, a shadow of something partly blocking the One Light -- what?

When I went through the worst of my depression years and years ago, I used to wake up in the middle of the night, and FEEL a threatening presence walking down the hallway toward the bedroom. It was man-size, walking silently, and he was deep inky void, so blackly infinite I was terrified to look on him.

Years later, after I learned Reiki, the same figure appeared in dreams, and gave me healing guidance. Still I could not see his face, though his body was now in more normal color.

Somehow, with the help of the Infinite, I allowed myself to look on my reflection, to listen to and learn from him. Before, I only looked on him in terror, and thought of him as the worst kind of negative energy.

That's my story, hope it helps. Thank you for prompting me to remember it, it will be helpful to me.

Reminds me of a time, when 'trying' for astral projection, being in a kind of a fugue of depression at the same time, I remember waking up in the middle of the night, not being able to move, a presence was above me, and although I couldn't see it, I feel now that I 'saw' it on some level.
Anyway the presence was trying to 'pull' me out of my body, I resisted mightly, until in the end It let go and I got the impression of 'well stay there then' with a feeling of disgruntlment or disgust, kind of like when we get frustrated and throw our hands in the aer.
Then I could move, turned on the light for the rest of the night. lol. Nothing to do with reiki i'm afraid.

I am not sure what was meant by the word "ill". I have encountered some really dark, cold, energy which I considered very slow, meaning of low frequency. While some might consider these energies "evil", evil as a subjective descriptor of how these energies influence the world is different to me than saying the energy *is* evil. It's just lower in frequency. It is my understanding that those types of energy are typical of lower level energies such as fear, hate, rage, greed, etc, and of entities who operate in that spectrum of being. I suspect one's own shadow side would incorporate these emotions, as the shadow holds those contents we reject from our conscious mindself.

I would not assume, however, that all such low frequency entities or energies emanate from one's own self - I've encountered such low frequency residual energies in old houses where fighting, bitterness or arguments prevailed, and even in geographical areas where unfortunate occurences happened long ago (which events I didn't find out until later). I don't think of these as "bad" energies, although subjectively they *feel* bad. I think of them as low frequency (hence uncomfortable), just as my energy signature's frequencies may be of "low frequency" to higher, more evolved beings (and similarly perhaps make them uncomfortable).

I would expect the blessing power of Reiki would help, although I haven't tried blessing an area yet.

I have called in Reiki with great success to help protect me from the unpleasant influences of entering such areas when I've been there before and know what to expect. Being so energy sensitive can really spoil an evening if I don't think ahead, but the Reiki works very well protectively.
