What is reiki?

Otoharo!

I have come to some recent realizations about what it is that we call this reiki energy.

When I attended Lazaris programs, we all went away from there elevated in our energy fields. One of the first things Lazaris explained is how energies interact. When two come together, they do:
1) the lesser energy becomes stronger
2) the stronger energy becomes lesser
3) they both shift so that they are equal

That information was interesting and occassionally in life it applies to something.

Suddenly now, it applies to how I recognize reiki energy. Reiki is a much higher energy than we are. So when we are in reiki energy, either reiki lessens, or we get stronger, or we equalize.

Back to Lazaris, he told his story at the beginning about being really attracted by the laughter of the young woman called Cindy. He has never been physical. So in his attraction he followed her lives for several lifetimes. Her laugh was always the same. In this lifetime, he communicated with her through the voice of her boy friend, Jach. That was startling to them, but they got used to it. He went with them to visit a friend in the hospital and while there he shook her hand. She suddenly rose up several inches off the bed. Startled them all! So Lazaris knew he had to step his energy down more. After doing this though, he stayed at that level. He remarked during a program that when we attended his program, We had to shift as "I am not going anywhere". Meaning, his energy was not shifting to be equal with us, so we had to get stronger. Period.

It is the same situation with reiki energy. Reiki is not going anywhere. To be in reiki energy, we have to shift to match the energy level of reiki.

Reiki is energy and only energy. It does not heal anything. Energy does not shift. It stays what it is. We have to do the changing. As reiki energy enters our bodies, it is our bodies which takes this energy and balances itself, restores itself to its nature. It is the body which heals itself. Reiki simply is.

finality,

- one view is that Reiki is a particulr practice by which one may connect to the flow of ULE (and that it is not the energy itself)

there are some other terms that say something more about reiki. And I use that word for the energy itself.

Resonance. We can decribe reiki in terms of resonance. When we self treat, hands on us, focuses the energy and when we can see the energy, we see the reiki energy as light, and when we put our hands on a spot we see the body's energy as dark. We hold that so that our bodies resonate to the energy and that lifts our body to the level of the light, the dark dissipates and the light takes over. We move our hands to another spot and this process repeats. The same thing happens when we are reiki with another person.

The intent of course, is that it is reiki energy that we are holding and not our own.

There is another word in relation to reiki. That reiki is a catalyst. Perhaps this is simply another way of describing what I said in the first post. A catalyst does nothing, but its presence causes others in its presence to change in some way. I experience this. When in reiki, something in me shifts, body, mind, spirit. Something always shifts.
