Practitioner hands perspire during treatment

Patrons of the Cafe,

Recently, the palms of my hands have perspired during treatment,
to the extent that the recipient's shirt is conspicuously moist.

When this happens my hands are very hot, that is, not clammy: not cold or cool.
My hands don't always perspire--it is happening only recently.

What does this indicate?

Thank you for your comments.

Blessings,

resplen

resplen,

Hi,

I have heard the suggestion that in such instances the Practitioner is de-toxifying (or cleansing if you prefer).

Cheers,

RC

Hi RC,

Thank you for your post.

The practitioner is de-toxifying (cleansing) the recipient.

Should the practitioner shake her hands periodically in such instances...?

(For example, I have been taught that when the practitioner's hands become
red and swollen, that the practitioner should, from time to time, flick away the
excess energy by shaking the hands at the wrist....)

Blessings,

resplen,

Hi,

I believe you misunderstood (though I might have been more explicit). I was suggestiong that it was the Practitioner him\herself who was experiencing a bit of detoxification\cleansing as a by-product of the session.

Cheers,

RC

Dear Resplen,

Interesting experience. If my hands started perspiring, I wouldn't do hands on and would move to hands off position for the clients comfort, and also limit the session and not overdo it as sometimes less is more and/or move to another area of the body. I would also keep a towel nearby.
Also what are your feelings towards this person? Are you putting in alot of effort and/or being empathic, sympathetic, or indifferent etc. And did you have this condition prior to being a Reiki practitioner? I believe there are gels available you could apply to your palm beforehand you could get from a doctor such as a dermatologist or a nutritionist and yes it could definately be a detox for you as well.

peace,

Prosperity

Thank you RC for clarifying.

Hmmmm...I am concerned now for the recipient (person on
the practitioner's table. Is the practitioner's detoxing affecting
the recipient adversely or in any way, for that matter??

Blessings,

Dear Prosperity,
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate your suggestions, as well.
Prosperity: "Also what are your feelings towards this person?"
In gassho, I intend to be a perfect instrument for the ULE to flow.
I intend further that the ULE serve the recipient's highest good.
And, I give thanks. I am grounded. I breathe in and visualize
energy coming into the top of my head and spreading throughout
my body. Then I place hands on, remain respectful and mindful
of any sensations I feel. That is basically it. Please tell me if I
should be including something else?
Also: Recipients report that the hot heat they experience
"feels very good."

Prosperity: "And did you have this condition prior to being a Reiki practitioner?"
Not at all. Perspiry palms was a complete surprise to me.
I asked my teacher if she had ever had this experience?
I asked other established practitioners if this experience
was common to them. My teacher and the other practitioners
said that yes, they have experienced perspiry palms, as well.
Neither my teacher nor the other practitioners offered any other
information regarding perspiry palms.
Further: I read with interest an article: Petter's "Reiki Ryoho, Part I,
Understanding Byosen Scanning" in the current (Spring 2007)
of "Reiki News" magazine. Petter's article lists the five levels of byosen
(page 23) which follow and I quote:
1) Heat. This heat is above normal body temperature.
2) Strong heat. This heat makes your palms s w e a t [my spacing].
3) Tingling. The tingling....
4) Pulsation, cold. The pulsation....
5) Pain in the hand of the practitioner. This pain....
And, in Petter's article there is no further mention of the phenomenon
of "sweaty palms".
I am at a loss. I would appreciate any further input.

Thank you.

Blessings,

resplen

My palms itched for an awful long time. I wasn't giving a session or such.
When I'm practicing on myself, I get so hot, just reading your letters, my thermostat went on high.
I guess I've a lot of healing going through at the moment.
Sometimes the heat is so intense that its uncomfortable, kind of like theres a whole body blush going on.

resplen,

Hi,

It is pretty well established, I would say, that energy other than ULE of Reiki practices may pass from practitioner to recipient and vise versa. Some refer to this as personal energy not all of which is desireable. I think this is from where many discussions of mindfulness during Reiki practices have come and gone.

Now, from the shaman's point of view not all sweat is created equal. There are practices I have heard of where the shaman uses specific rituals to generate his\her own perspiration and then applies it to the patient for healing. I also read somewhere years ago that certain brujos may use a "dark" version of this practice for less pleasant outcomes.

So, I suppose the caveat would be: let us keep our intentions compassionate and our personal crap to ourselves and hope others do the same.

:)

Cheers,

RC

resplen,

Hi.

Well, thank you. :)
I suppose the basic thing to keep in mind is that Reiki sessions do not occur in some sort of protected vacuum; safe from all other influences (including those operating during the session as a result of having at least two energy sources coming into contact with each other).

:)

Cheers,

RC
