liam,
Hi,
I do not believe I would try Reiki practices for breaking boards or bricks. I am pretty sure I would use Reiki practices to heal a broken hand.
lol, lol, lol
Cheers,
RC

Hi RC and Pondering,
i have a friend whom had broken his hand around 8 years of age, his grandfather decide to teach him Iron Palm at 10 years of age. now his hand is really strong and i doubt it can be broken again anytime. :)
Iron Palm is one of martial arts training aiming to harden the hand and condition the palm capable to perform extraordinary breaking feats. this is done by repeatedly softly beat a few object in progression from wood to iron sands and even granite stone. There are specific breathing technique and ointment used to prevent injuring the palm and internal organs of the practicioner.
I believed that this kind of training leads to a very high concentration of ki or chi energy in the palm.
but i'm unsure how this would effect someone in giving reiki treatment. Will the energy become condensed so much that we can no longer can use reiki to help other, or our intention is enough to control such kind of energy.
as with great power come great responsibility some uncle said or so.

Ha! RC was right on. And my husband and I spent many years in martial arts, too..... Well, I believe that your intent would protect yourself and your client, but probably best that you hear from Firekeeper or some of the others. Have a wonderful day, Liam.

Liam,
Hi,
I am not an Iron Palmist (I prefer iron tea leaves) but based on other martial arts to which I have been exposed I would say that any mindful training will only be of benefit in doing Reiki. There is nothing to lead me to think that someone's hand would become too dense for energy work such as Reiki practices.
Cheers,
RC

thanks for the input guys,
my concern would be if such practice could alter or act as a filter as the energy passes through our arms.
it might act like an amplifier or booster.
or in reiki case we used symbols or in my opinion a mudra.
life long and prosper,
Liam

Liam,
Hi,
I would say let us not get too neurotic (or grandiose) about it. Give it a try. If, afterall, Reiki can do no harm as some (not myself) maintain then all will be well.
Cheers,
RC

Liam,
Hi,
Treading water is an excellent skill to have as well in case one leaps in with too many clothes on (carrying too much baggage, so to speak)
:)
Cheers,

I reckon whatever martial art or disipline you enjoy, will or won't hinder or enhance your reiki experience, depending on your intent.
don't worry about it, all will be fine.

Thanx jaguar,
maybe i worried too much. :)
it's just that based on some experience i had, where as in pranic healing when we supposed to imagine blue or yellow energy flowing out of our hand it might or might not actually the energy with that color that flow out.
so there is intention and there is actual skill or precision in handling the energy.

The imagining of the flame and it's colour, to my way of thinking is just a way of focusing the intent and the varying degrees of energy used, I guess.
Kind of like a surgeon with a scalpel. the surgeon uses the scalpel as a tool to cut lightly or deeply or the type of tool determines the cut according to the varying degree needed.
Or something like that.
Happy trails.

very funny RC,
so your intention determine the precision ? as simple as that ?
what about awareness ? the different perception ? the different factor that might influence the outcome ? or income ?
i understand our subconcious understand / "know" stuff but i don't think its correct all the time.

liam,
Hi,
Yes, well, I certainly think at least twice about receiving energy from anyone who feels the subtleties of energy work are funny.
:)

Liam,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- I would say that any energy practice which requires mindfulness and is not intended to cause harm will likely not adversely affect one's Reiki practices
- will other practices enhance one's Reiki work?
- really only one way for each of us to find out, no?
