Hello Everyone,
Namaste...
Has anyone ever thought ULE (Universal Life Force Energy) the same as "the Universe" as described in the book, "The Secret"?
Just curious...

My Dearest MammaBear,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- perhaps it was your question that set The Cafe's server reeling
bagl, bagl, bagl,
- anywho, would you be able to summarize, in 25 words or less, "the universe" as it is defined in the Secret for those of us who have not read it??
- yet, I will make the wild guess that I will not take ULE and "the universe" as isomorphic if that is the position in the book (but please do not let this 'disclaimer' deter your efforts at succinctness)

Firekeeper,
Namaste...
You're a hoot...
bagl
If my question is responsible for any "glitches" in the cafe today...
Wow...I really messed up my intention.
I'd better practice some more.
bagl
And if not...I'd better practice some more anyway.
:-)))))))))))
No the book doesn't suggest it, it's just one of those "ponderings" floating around in my brain.
:-)
I guess what got me to thinking was an article in Rand's magazine. He gives some helpful ideas about how to start your own reiki practice and to first set the intention for a thriving business, etc.
He suggests you write your intention on a card and reiki it w/ symbols if you have been attuned to them, and to do some visualizations of what "thriving" means to you, etc. To do this at least once a day faithfully until you reach your goal.
The part that sounds like "The Secret" to me, since you have not read the book, is the setting of intention, and consistently visualizing success of the goal, develop a real "knowing" that it will happen...believe in it and the "Universe" will bring the possibilities to you...
...basically the law of attraction.
So it made me wonder... is it the reiki energy that is empowering the manifestation of the goal or "the Universe" as described in the book.
If that is the case...I would have a different view of reiki energy, and also REALLY get that whole part about if one's intention is not a "proper" one, that it could be harmful.
So thus the question...is ULE really "The Universe"...meaning it can be whatever you intend it to be?
You may wish to google the book...there is a "quickie" review on the site.
Thanks for responding,
and for tipping off all is well here at the cafe.
Abundant blessings,
Mammabear

MamamBear,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- well, such weighty and ethereal matters can disrupt the ethers, don'tchaknow!!!
>:-}}
- and, I still am not sure what 'Universe' means in The Secret yet I get the feeling that the book is more about someone's idea on the 'secret to success' - which is, to me a rather narrow view of the purpose of our lives
- but that may not be here nor there or elsewhere
>:-}}
- what I do read in your comments is what I would say is a confusion of 'causality'
- manifesting one's intentions is not the same as the universe bringing the possibilities to you - the latter part of that statement suggests some intelligence or intention is possessed by the "universe"
- some will say that ULE is the essence of the life of the universe but not the universe itself or the only energy in in Samsara - ringing just a bit like "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts"
>:-}}
- yes, intentions have alot to do with our perceptions which of course have alot to do with what the universe seems to us (we all have our Illusions, do we not)
bagl
- it is Samsara, afterall, and all sorts of intentions manifest and affect the universe for better and for worse
- as it is said: "every lie injures the universe"
- all I have time for at the moment

Firekeeper,
Namaste...
Moi? Disruptive?
LOL
Maybe in a friendly sort of way.
:-)
The promo's for The Secret are disappointing because they do lean towards the quest for material. The concept and real understanding behind the way it really "works", is a lot deeper, finding life purpose, service towards humanity, etc. but the hype falls a bit short of that message which is unfortunate.
The Secret is a very old law just repackaged.
"ULE is the essence of the life of the universe but not the universe itself."
I'm trying to wrap my brain around that one...
LOL
How does one represent the essence of something without the something? If that's what you're saying.
Hmmmm.
And if that's all you have time, for...I think that's plenty.

bagl
- so, this coyote does as coyotes do
>:-}}
- I was not speaking of representing ULE or the Universe -
- they exist to us so do not need to be represented - they are quite beyond adequate representation - this is why, for the most part, I do not find the symbols of Reiki very useful representations of aspects of ULE
- one view being that it is more likely the symbols reflect "Intentional" guidelines for Reiki practices than the energy itself
- so, if we take the Universe as unknowable in its fullness and ULE as the essensce of the Unknowable (thus also unknowable in its fullness as well) then...........
- see where I am going with this??
- enjoy the gardening!! A great opportunity to at least wrap your hands around some good earth

- I am off to the Y.

Firekeeper,
Namaste...
As one very clever Coyote would say...
...most kind.
:-)
You said, "One view being that it is more likely the symbols reflect "Intentional" guidelines for Reiki practices than the energy itself."
This is actually what I was taught...so symbols for me have only ever been a tool to help set a specific intention.
But we divert...
:-))))
LOL

Think, think, think...
Oh Bother.
“When you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and you Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.”
Sooooooo....
...I'm clueless.
Care to try again?
:-)))))))))))))))
At least, I was successful at wrapping my hands around some good 'ol dirt. And lots of it. :-)
Off to the Fairie Festival in Glen Rock on Sunday. The cubs insist on going every year much to my joy. It's a May Day celebration at a nearby organic farm. It's so cool and grows every year. (Pardon the pun...) If you don't dress up to some extent, you feel quite odd. Fun is had by all.
Have a great weekend,

Otoharo!
My take on this is that what we experience of the Universe is then knowable though the rest of the Universe stays unknowable to us until we experience more of it and only what we experience remains knowable. We experience reiki, thus we know that function of the Universe.

MammaBear,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
OK.........
>:-}}
- expressions such as 'think outside the box' might be helpful
- we think we know what the box looks like on the inside (we'll assume for the time being this is so), but what does it really look like on the outside?
- no amount of imagination will help us
- we must develop the ability to remove ourselves from the box so that we can view it from the outside
>:-}}
- once outside the box we are now much nearer to knowing the 'fullness' of the box
- of course, we now might become distracted and begin to wonder where the heck we and the box are!!

Ponderings,
Namaste...
Thank thee!
We had a wonderful time...the weather was a bit chilly so the cubs opted not to dress up much, but we had some fairly extravagant face paintings done to make up for that.
:-)
All in all music, dancing, food and adventure was great.
Blessings to your day,
Mammabear

I guess where I have trouble is that word "know".
That could take you fairly deep and bring realization to all that one thinks one knows and doesn't.

Thank you for the patience and elaboration. That's a great way to explain what you were saying. Now I understand...
:-))))))))))))
The gardens are almost finished. I have one small area yet to do. It's a corner garden and I'm redoing the whole thing. Papabear thinks I'm crazy...you call this fun???
I reminded him how many wonderful things in life required great effort and hard work and of course he had to agree.
:-)))))))))))
Have a wonderful day,

Hi,
I saw the movie and read the book. The universe is the universe...the beginning and the end. (Not the physical universe, the universe of energy, which we are all a part of)I'm the ripped hangnail on God's pinky toe on the left foot. Everything and everyone is connected. Go hug a tree and say it isn't so.
I know several people who scoffed at the idea that was presented, but people truly are powerful and don't realize it. Learning how to adjust yourself to the endless possibilities is mind rocking. It isn't hard either.
To generalize, the book opens up an avenue for some people who could never imagine they had any choices. It gives them power to learn and to ask and make choices.
It's the same concept as manifesting. Not so bad after all. Manifesting works...visualizing what you would like and expecting it to arrive. Many times it does. Little by little I am improving, and the rewards are improving also.

infinite possibilities....that is so exciting....that even when we are unaware of the total universe....we're still a part of it.....I'd like to be something other than a ripped toenail, please, birdymine! Ha!

birdy,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- I am not sure what distinction you are making between what you call the physical universe and the universe of energy
- as for visualizing and expecting a manifestation?
- one view (a take on buddhist thought) is that hope is a great source of suffering
- I would add that 'hopelessness' is a great source of suffeing as well

It's all about "Knowing" isn't it. How many things can you think of that you can't really explain, but in yourself you know.
Knowing
Faith
Being positive
Even hope
for all things begin with a thought. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Ponderings: my hangnail is my way of saying what a tiny particle of energy I am in this universe, but I am God's particle. So, I'm good with that.
WHO REALLY KNOWS?

Hi,
I don't mind. I can be a goose sometimes,marching behind the big gander. But, sometimes I break out and flap my wings and get my 2 seconds of fame. Then I'm done and back to following someone else's tail feathers. Waddle, Waddle.
People laugh for many different reasons. Laughing releases painkilling and healing properties. Laugh away.
