Hi Everyone,

I am so completely new to Reiki. My cousin in Scotland introduced me to it by giving me therapy and I am fascinated by the subject. I plan to attend a Reiki circle which I happened to discover in my area. Any input as to what I can expect would greatly be appreciated. I would love to take a course but need to learn more first I believe.

Hi bjay,

Welcome to the cafe :)

A Reiki circle usually involves two or more practitioners giving you Reiki at the same time. This tends to make the amount of time that you are on the treatment couch shorter and the healing can be quite intense. I have found it can be very balancing to have two practitioners working on me at the same time. Sometimes healing circles include sending Reiki distantly too at the end. If there is anything you are unsure of at the circle, just ask, I'm sure someone will only be too happy to answer any questions you might have and allay any nerves :)

Hope this helps.

Gentle Blessings
Helen

Otoharo!

Welcome to the cafe. I am not sure what you have said. It sounds like you have had reiki treatment, but are you also attuned to reiki yourself? If not, that is your next step. It does not require any knowledge of reiki prior to this attunement. All you need is getting there tot he class. If you are attuned already, then reiki circle is the joyous participation along with others who are also attuned. I used to go to a "share" in which enough people were participating that a pair of hands were at every position including the legs and feet, all at once. WOW! Five minutes on the front, and five minutes ont he back. A share is run by the person who organized it and thus may differ from others. That is ok. There is nothing wrong with how we do reiki. Just do it! until the time comes that one can BE reiki.

Thank you for the welcome. I have not been attuned or even attended any classes, all I have experienced was some reiki therapy a couple of times by my cousin. She also sent me long-distance reiki twice. I am reading plenty of information on the internet and am so looking forward to attending the circle tomorrow.

Here's a question... I see on the internet one can get attunement online... any thoughts on that? Also courses offered online.. is this a good way to learn, or is it best to go to an actual class with a master etc.? Sorry if my questions are elementary, as I mentioned I am totally new to all of this.

I would have the attunement in person. I received my Reiki I and II attunement in March. It was a deeply spiritual experience. I can't wait to hear from you afterwards.

Hi Bjay,

You're going to love reiki. The attunements are a wonderful experience and I think you would miss out on that if you received it through someone online. Also, in class learning teaches you a lot, not to mention that I think it's much better to actually meet your reiki master/teacher.

Blessings,
Sika :)

I went to the circle and my experience was great! During the reiki I received I felt intense heat on the areas where the other student touched and I felt tremendous heat in my hands. I also saw some wonderful colours. I really would like to take the class now... it seems a little expensive so I may have to wait a while.

Does anyone here practice EFT? this is something else I find fascinating. I would love your input on that also.

dear rainbow....I've also found....being a craniosacral therapist...that when there are two people working together..that mirroring occurs (especially if they are on opposite sides).....and can be very powerful...we call it unwinding or diagonals....but I think it all overlaps...thank you for your good words....
