charging for follow-up

Hello one and all,

I'm just wondering...about a month ago I received attunement for advanced reik training. This was my first time with this particular reiki master. After the attunement I did self treating for 21 days but after that I didn't. I started having a lot of emotional things happening-I wasn't myself. One of the things that bothered me the most is I didn't want to do reiki to myself or anyone else-at all. After a particularly bad day I thought I would e-mail the master that attuned me. I told her everything and just asked her if this was a normal part of the process. She wouldn't answer any of my questions at all unless I made an appointment for at least one hour and she was going to charge me. I have to tell you-I was devastated. It just didn't seem right to me. Here I am going throught all of this and now feeling like there is no where to turn-disapointed in a reiki master that I held in high regard. Is this normal for reiki masters to charge for follow-ups-even if it's just questions?

Blessings,
Sika :)

I can't speak for others. My students are welcome to question and to learn. They are welcome to observe and participate during treatments (client permission). My students are welcome to question me any time they choose. Student needs drive the teaching.

Learning is a process some people do not understand that. They feel that the attunement is all you need and whatever questions you have will be answered at that time. Could also be that your teacher did not know the answetr to your question........never experienced that reaction before.

I have e-mailed several questions to my Reiki master\teacher. She very graciously answer for no charge. It's natural to have questions afterwards. I have purchased Reiki books and studied online to learn without bugging her too much.

hi. sorry to hear about this and it sounds strange to me that a master would charge for just a couple of questions. but honestly, you should keep up the reiki because it sounds like there is a lesson set up in all this.

just speaking from my personal exp... reiki seems to stage certain "difficult experiences" for some people since it is working at such a core level of our being. since i believe that what we think and feel manifest outside of us, this could be something that the 21 days of your practice has brought up.

last thing. there have been days on end that i ignored reiki while seeking answers to various difficulties from the outside. i learned that reiki was telling me to devote myself to self-practice and just wait patiently... the answers you seek will come to you. don't force it.

thank you for sharing.

sika,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- if you don't mind my asking, what 'advanced' Reiki attunement did you get?

- did you do or get any preparation for it?

- you said, in part: "I started having a lot of emotional things happening - I wasn't myself."

- of course you were being yourself - perhaps just not an aaspect of yourself with whom you were very familiar

- and, I do not feel the 21 days thing necessarily had anything to do with that (some report 'effects' with a few days; some not for months)

- I do not feel 21 days to be nearly as mystical as some would try and lead student to believe

- as for asking that you take a 'consultation' for your questions and issues for which she has fees? If she earns money doing Reiki, I assume you paid for the attunement, then jsut as lawyers, therapists, etc. do, consultations are part of the business

- charging $$$ for consultation time is neither right or wrong (not mentioning her follow-up procedures at the time of the attunements is, to me, rude (at best)

- I would have more problems, in case of doubt, and I have some here, with her 'selling' attunements if she does not do proper preparation and training for the 'studuent'

- hope this helps

amen to everything that you've said, Firekeeper. Sika, my heart goes out to you, for struggles aren't always fun...they do make us pay attention, don't they. I'm disappointed in this master....perhaps, you're meant to let her know how you feel....perhaps, she needs a learning experience, too. I hope and pray that you'll continue to receive the words & support that you need from the generous folks here.

I am so thankful to everyone for your responses, you've all helped. I know through disapointments and upsets we learn and grow stronger. I'm certainly learning what not to do when I reach master/teacher level. I'm also very glad for this place :)

Thank-you and blessings to all,
Sika :)
