The Reiki Cafe 

well here goes I just found this site and am new to the nname reiki. but not to the heat i can radiate from my hands and the feelings i get when i touch some one for to long . I am 26 but i have been abel to do this sence about the age 6 or 7. and i read eariler tonight that you have to be given the gift by a master or they have to awaken it in you,is this true if so any idea what it is that i can do , tired of wondering what it is,you know bad or good. I have helped a lot of people throught my life, from making pain go away to giveing all till i blacked out. but every time its like part of them stayes with me,like there memories,there emotions,so i guess what i want to know is ,is Reiki what im doing or is it something els,i have been afrade to ask now i just want to know , so if you know that would be great, if not thanks for takeing the time to read this. thank you.... The bottom line is - some people are born healers and you seem to be one of them. It not necessarily reiki that you impart, there are many types of healing.

I would suggest that you turn to an experienced healer in the Native American tradition, to teach you how to protect yourself from absorbing other people's negativity, and to channel your ability for the best outcome.

In the meantime, before you attempt to heal again, try surrounding yourself with white protective light, and also make sure you ground yourself well. There is no necessity to drain yourself in the way you do - it's not beneficial to you or the recipient of your healing. Best of luck.

If you are blacking out I would say it is not likely to be Reiki. In Reiki one minimizes the use of Personal Energy as much as possible. In other forms of energy work Personal energy is more crucial which means Intention and mindfulness are even more important.

I do not recommend dabbling or ad libbing in energy work. A consistent course of training and practice is very important whether it is Reiki or some other tradition.

when when i have blacked out it was because some one was vary weak or vary cold,i think my problem is that i have never pursued what this is, its always been there and for awhile i tried to use it to help people,but it would come and go, and its still that way. like when i was younger i could jump in a snow drift with only shorts on and by thinking of a flame inside me , the snow would melt into a puddle of water and i could turn the water warm. the day i quit was when i had gotten mad and put my hand over a glass table and made a fog the shape of my hand on the table, well my friend was fascinated and touched the table and burnt her finger blistered. that only happened once was it me or just a fluke. I believe it was me. i know something is there i just want to learn how to use it rite. or not at all. what should i do or which way to go. thanks Soulhunter

It is time to learn to use your gift. Start with intention. Your mind can direct the energy. Your mind can keep you safe from others energy.

I always plant my roots deep in Mother Earth before doing any treatments. I fix my mind on being a hollow bone.....think water pipe....which lets the energy travel through me to the other person. I may ask for guidance and understanding of the probvlem. I always intend that the person's troubles will not become part of my own energy field.

Find a healer to mentor you.
