Hi all,
Last night I was browsing through a few books to get the best material for handouts and came across some symbols. One was very familiar to me. I had started adding it when signing my name (putting it beneath my name) around Middle School age. At first it just caught my eye, but when I realized what it was I was so shocked. Never saw it used anywhere else.
It's called Shoshana, means lily or flower in Hebrew, inspires you to open to your intuition and removes energy blocks. It's an elongated S shape with curvy line crossing the center bar.
What a wonderful surprise for me. Could this be my personal symbol?

birdy,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- I suppose that would depend on your definition of a 'personal symbol'
- you may have re-discovered a symbol that, as you describe it, may have been known to others as there is a translation from Hebrew for it
- one view is that a personal symbol is one which one has 'come across' in a 'magical' manner and one which is not shared with others (and presumeably is not known by others)
- I know that some Teachers will ask if they may attune a favorite student to a personal symbol - for myself I do not subscribe to that practice
- hope this helps

Hello Birdy
I was interested enough to google shoshan(n)a, but could find no reference to it being a symbol! Mainly it seems to be a Jewish woman's name. From the way you describe it, it sounds a bit like the pound sign! £ Hehe! :-) I don't suppose you could reproduce it here?

Hi,
It doesn't look like a pound sign to me, but you never know. Maybe I can describe it better. Do a small spiral circling clockwise, coming off the top draw horizontally across the page into another small spiral going counter clockwise. Between the two spirals on the horizontal bar is a squiggle.
Thank you for taking the time to check it out. It was just nice seeing it again. It's not a Reiki symbol.

Ah - I get it now! Like an S but with more curly bits at the ends? It's a nice sign - stick with it! :-) I'm very into spirals myself. So much so, that I even have plates & mugs with spirals on them!

Hi,
I love this symbol. I just realized also, that I never combined it with my name unless it was on something special, like a card or a letter to someone close to me. It's not something to use with my signature on a parking ticket.
I think it just came to me one day when I was doodling on my class notebook instead of listening to the teacher. It has been mine for about 40 years now. At least I think I can say it is mine.
What do spirals signify?
Thanks!
Birdy
