What was originally taught in Reiki class? The precepts, hand positions for illnesses. (?????)

It just occurred to me that even smudging is probably an add-on. As would be crystals, chakra info, and so very many other things. Hmmmm. Something to think about!

sometimes, I'd like to learn what the original thought to practising reiki was. Then practice that for a while, and then some of the add-ons to see what thats like.
Somehow, I seem to find myself with all this 'stuff' that | propably don't really need to do.
The add-ons are great tools to use in healing, I guess, but what to use where and how.
I find myself throwing everything together, in the hope that at least something will stick.
Either way I put my trust in the all mighty, or whatever an hope and trust that whatever is needed at a given time gets used, and all the other stuff not if not needed.

Interesting way to look at it all, jaguar...and each individual is just that....and their belief systems playing a big part in what happens....hmmmm, very nice...thank you. Wouldn't it be great if since we're all part of the same energy matrix....that the bits & pieces the folk didn't need/use went to someone/thing that needed it more.....sorry, getting carried away here......since nothing is ever wasted...of course....still getting carried away!

It was the simple reiki which was given to Usui. the simple reiki is after you are attuned in reiki I, placing your hands on yourself according to the placements taught, for self healing. After you have self healed a long time, then placing hands on in the placements taught for other people. You are right about not wanting stuff from someone's ego. Stay with spirit.

- yes, one has to wonder how much Reiki anyone could possibly learn and practice in a Reiki 1 class when there is so much distracting and ancillary stuff being presented

I understand showing the chakras, since they are so closely placed in respect to the hand positions. Using the color coding as a learning tool, but what about all the other things about chakras. Notes, smells and sounds that correspond. All these things were presented by my teacher.

There is a little puppy chasing its tail in my head.
