Cold hands after Reiki

I'm not sure I'm giving Reiki, having never had any instruction in the subject, what I do I found myself when somebody close to me was in need. After meditating or at least clearing my mind and trying to find the energy I put my hands over the affected area, trying not to touch, and trying to visualise the energy, and opening the crown chakra. Not sure you want to hear this, but I'm much, much more effective if I'm been smoking hashish or marijuana.

Now if I've been effective my hands are cold afterwards, sometimes icy cold. It doesn't worry me, I feel no pain, and normally have very warm hands, and a strong metabolism.

But a sign that I'm going to be very effective is cold hands. Someone had told me this is absolutely wrong, energy is warmth, and cold has no place in that.

Anybody got anything to say about cold hands being a sign of effectiveness?

Hi Francis,

I have always had healing hands also. When i was younger I use to do the same, when i found something in need I'd put my hands over the area of pain and would concentrate and visualize the area healed. And with in a few minutes it would be. But my hands have been cold and hot. Some people feel cold others feel heat coming from them. And sometimes I have cold hands, and warm. I think it depends, with me any ways, on the client and the situation. I hope that helps!!!

- I would agree that you are probably not doing Reiki

- Reiki typically is hands-on, touching, (when not distant Reiki) though there may be occasion to do Reiki with the hands slightly off the body

- it is likely you are simply channeling Personal energy which could well explain the cold hands

- and, I have no idea what you refer to when you say "someone in need" and "being effective"

- have the people you do this energy work with given their explicit permission to you??

Thanks Harmony, Firekeeper

The someone in need was an ex girlfriend who had a chronic illness. One of the symptoms of this illness was very bad back pain. I was quite effective in reducing this back pain, and she said more effective when I didn’t actually touch, just kept my hands millimetres above her skin. BTW I also give quite a decent massage.

This was at a point in my life when after smoking a heroic amount of marijuana I believed some things, one of which was that I could manipulate and channel energy. It was important for me that the room was very dark, and then I believed I could see/perceive energy as I moved my hands, and associated meanings to certain colours purple for example with pain, and green with healing.

All the people I’ve done it to have given explicit permission, one dog didn’t seem interested, and the cat nearly orgasmed when she was sitting on my lap, and I was doing my shoulder. As I had a hand spare I decided I might as well see what effect it had.

Firekeeper,

I was told by my RM that the only way you can leagally touch a client in the state of Michigan is if you are a doc., RN or a Massage Therapist. I am not any of these. And since i was little i have always hovered my hands and never touched. And all of my clients leave happy, relaxed and pain free. ? Im new to the knowledge of Reiki. But have done hands on healing since i was little. What isyour opinion on this? love and light, harmony

- one view is that 'heroic amounts' of any mind altering substance will do nothing to clarify Illusion (the contrary is much more likely)

Now, here comes a dumb one, I'm afraid.....I thought that Reiki was in everyone....that some just aren't aware or haven't begun to seek their own energy healing capacities...and that atunement was the key or switch....???

As far as i know at least here you can touch someone for treatment but can't manipulate move twist the skin and muscles, Just laying of hands on the skin. You might have a different type of healing comming threw your hands. But if it works what the heck use it. There is many different kinds they all pretty much the same thing with eneregy healing, From what I have studied and am still studing. Some more powerful, some more peaceful, some last longer, some instant, some take some time and numerous treatments, some born with it, some develope it. Depends I think on the individual giving treatment. Everyone developes their own style. Who knows where it comes from different types are being discovered all the time. Develope it and use it for the good! Good luck!

Dear francis,

I would suggest that imbibing big thc before energy work does not increase the quality of the energy work. Perhaps you might seem to perceive more visually and whatnot. But these perceptions are on the inside. One does not heal another by drawing inward.

If thc really helps in a real way , everyone would be doing it. It not like you stumbled upon something that no one thought of yet.

People have been getting baked and people have been doing energy work for thousands of years. If the two practices had some wonderful "off-the-shelf" synergistic effect and benefit we would know about it by now.

Plus you are inviting negative entities into the healing session by being intoxicated which affects both you and the recipient. And they wash off as easy chewing gum in the hair.

I've read that, too. My mama and I were preparing to leave for Florida, when she caught her foot in a crack and sustained a nasty ankle sprain. We immediately did Reiki before leaving that day. Not only could she walk on it, but the hematoma and swelling were greatly decreased. Praise the Reiki! Praise the Spirit! Thanks, Firekeeper!

- Glad she responded nicely

- sprains, though, being rather separate from fractures or compound breaks

I once read of a fella who used runes for healing. He'd 'draw' the rune say of strength on the twisted ankle or the like. It worked a charm.

Wonder if runic healing and reiki would be complementary?

Depends on ones intent I suppose.

Oh, yes, thank you, Firekeeper...this I realize, but I think our belief system sometimes gets in the way....don't ya think....I mean for mending broken bones....I believe it's possible.....just tend to doubt myself....once, again, when I get my "self" or ego out of the way....I'm always amazed at the miracles that occur. Blessings, indeed.

I would agree with you...

I don't administer a Reiki healing session while intoxicated from alcohol. I do not "do" drugs and would not even imagine giving the treatment while under it's influence.

I think it unfair to a client to recieve a muddled experience. Their are many ways to calm yourself before a session. Meditation, Smudging and even Self Treatments.

While giving a treatment you are not giving the Reiki; You are the conduit for Reiki. It's only fair for a clear passage of energy not to have any means of energy diversion.

This is only my opinion, not meant to disprove yours.
