Reiki Help... PLEASE PLEASE

Here is a little background. I don't know a lot about Reiki..all I know is it is used for healing purposes. On the other hand, my wife is a firm believer of reiki. She attended some classes few yrs ago (and i think she is level 2) and practices Reiki regularly on herself to maintain her sugar levels (diabetes). I am fine with it and respect her beliefs. however, now she is very much paranoid that people are doing reiki on her which is affecting her health. That does not make any sense to me.

Can someone please help me? Is it really possible for people to do reiki which negatively affects one's health. Any suggestions or comments are very much appreciated

Reikigoodbad,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- you said of your wife: "now she is very much paranoid that people are doing reiki on her which is affecting her health."

- I assume here she means Reiki sent to her remotely??

- first of all, I would encourage you to encourage your wife to post her concerns herself - so that we may hear them directly and see what folks here may have to say

- one of my concerns is how she knows she is being sent Reiki without her knowing it (or is she talking about hands on Reiki she gets being harmful?)

- see the problem with hearing from you and not her??

- I feel it is always better that what folks say here not have parts 'lost in translation' so to speak as a result of a third party acting as messenger

- as for her concerns? I and many others, though not everyone, feel that to send Reiki to someone without their permsission is not ethical and in some infrequent instances may result in harm

- though, in general the energy accessed in Reiki practices and the intent behind doing Reiki will not result in harmful effects

- so, please ask her to post to us directly if she is willing

- hope this helps

Dear "Reikigoodbad and others,
..This is why I am skeptical of Reiki practitioners and RM's not being trained very well, not using wisdom and discretion on those they work on or knowing what they are really doing in regards to other factors necessary in healing work and being trained in who and what they are dealing with and the level of mental health and maturity of the person and to stop trying to sell it as it's not a commodity.

Dear Reikigoodbad, If this is a sudden or unusual change for your loved one, I'd be concerned about changes occuring from her diabetes.....lack of oxygen to the brain, etc.. Has she been to a doc in a while? Don't mean to alarm you, just feel you'd want to cover all bases. Firekeeper's wisdom always help.

Thanks firekeeper and everyone for your reply. I will ask my wife if she is interested in posting (not sure how open she is to this). To answer some of the questions.

1. She thinks its remote reiki or reiki transferable through objects which certain people give (gifts etc)..does this make sense?

2. Yes she has been to a doctor (goes regularly) and her sugar levels are normal with the help of medication. She also does reiki to maintain her levels and recently she has noticed a spike in her daily reading which leads her to believe what I mentioned above.

reikigoodbad,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- I doubt that any objects she is given will harm her or anyone else unless they were imbued with negative intent and energy (and I would then wonder why anyone would do such a thing to your wife?)

but, anywho, any energy only will stay with an object for so long unless it is 're-freshed' - the easiest thing, of course, to ease her fears there is to rid the house of these 'gifts' and not accept any more

- but, I would say this over-reacting - spikes in sugar readings may be quite natural especially if the 'severity' of her diabetes may be changing - this is where the MD should be able to give some support

- and, I am having a litle trouble understanding her reluctance to Post here

- no one will know who she actually is (except you)
