reiki good or bad

Reiki can never harm in any way, the healing energy goes where it is needed, sure your wife is alarmed over this, please reassure her no harm comes from or with Reiki, maybe she should contact the master/teacher or failing that another Reiki person nearby who I am sure will be more than happy to give your wife healing, maybe then the underlying problem will come to light.

Katy,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- nothing in my experience has led me to the conclusion that 'reiki goes where it is needed'

- the energy goes where intention takes it (as does personal energy) - the mindfulness and compassion behind the inteniton being key, of course

- all energy workers (yes, Reiki practitioners also) must take responsibility for what they do (their intentions in particular)

- as for "Reikei doing no harm"? There are certain instances where even Reiki practices may bring unintended, 'harmful' results (I have personal experience with this and several reliable reports over the years to the same effect)

- having said all that, I agree that under normal conditions compassionate intention will usually lead to compassionate results when recipients of energy are able to use the energy for their own best interests (healing)

Hi Firekeeper. thank you for your comments which I read with interest, I agree there are some people who will use healing for this purpose but my point was and I repeat it again Reiki can do no harm, we are a channel for the healing energy whether Reiki or whatever name springs to mind is used. Universal healing energy will and does go where it is needed unless we as the practioner choose to use our own energy to interfere with this and I am sure you will agree that this will drain the practioner, it is my understanding that we 'step aside' and leave ourselves open to allow the healing energy to work yes we use the different hand positions and visulise the symbol/s entering parts of the physical/emotional/spiritual body and ask that the healing energy goes where it is most needed, this of course relies on the clients willingness for healing, we can as a client block healing if we wish to do so, I am sure over the years you have come across clients who really use all their energy to block healing whether this is on a conscious or subconcious level.When I come across practioners who appear to use their position in this way I endeavour to send Reiki healing to their higher selves and ask my guides and angels to 'have a word' so to speak. i know it happens we all do but I cannot honestly practise Reiki healing or any other without this belief that healing energy can do no harm, unless of course we try to force this on another which we both know is not the way forward. Enjoyed your comment take care, love & light

Firekeeper, if I'm not out of line, could you possibly give examples of the use of Reiki having done harm? Just trying to learn here...

Otoharo!

I have reported this several times. Reiki balances the body. Any illness that a doctor has precribed medications for, have unbalanced the body. so when reiki comes in and brings about some balance, the dose of medication is out of whack. In some cases the medications can cause great damage.

Dear Katy,
Reiki can do no harm may be what many believe and have experienced yet in my experience I have seen people with mental problems who have had Reiki work done on them and their mental problems have been enhanced to a great degree.

Prosperity

Katy,

- I am sorry, but you do not consider all cases (especially some where energy is sent without recipient's knowledge and permission)

- I know of specific instances where energy was sent with good intention (tho to send without permission really indicates lack of thoughtfulness and responsibility) but the recipient did not know it was being sent, mis-interpretted the energy, and reacted badly (in at least two instances the persons had exacerbation of severe psychiatric symptoms)

- as such, I see no way to blindly assume that whatever Reiki we might do will never harm

Hi Firekeeper, now you make we wonder how many out there are mis understanding and or mis using their knowledge. I agree to send healing without the persons knowledge is irresponsible to say the least something I would never do. To assume another 'needs' healing seems to me to be ego based - I'm a healer therefore I can and will heal - to do that is morally wrong, trying to explain that to someone who is ego driven is difficult. Universal healing energy/light should be sent with unconditional love and received with unconditional love and not thrown at someone like a bucket of cold water.The master I studied with worked with a strict code ie: Give healing to those that asked not to those you think should receive it.

Katy,

- you said, in part: "The master I studied with worked with a strict code ie: Give healing to those that asked not to those you think should receive it."

- if all energy workers would live as close as possible to these guidelines we would all be on the same page

- and there would not be the least bit of overcrowding

bagl

- and speaking of ego, one view is that there is a certain ego attachment to referrng to oneself as a healer

- the same view holds that in Reiki, especially, the practitioner's role is to get the energy to the recipient and then has no further direct part to play

- it is up to the recipient to use the energy as well as s\he may to do whatever 'healing' s\he needs to do

>:-}}

- the same view also holds that in other forms of energy work where personal energy is a more primary factor then referring to oneself as a 'healer' seems less inappropriate
