Question about sending Reiki to a list

Peace and blessings.

If you send distance Reiki to a list of people, is it as effective as if you had sent to the people one at a time?

Thanks for any advice!
In gratitude,
Alice

I think depends on why you are sending. Each people might need differen things....if you are just sending reiki energy to the others, i think sending to a list is ok. Because this way really works, but if you are sending for some special reasons , then you might need serperate the list.

Alice,

Namaste :)

I'm sure you'll encounter differing opinions on this one, but personally I think it depends on how long the list is! :) I think if you send individually then you are more mindful about focusing on the recipient and the Reiki. To use a very general example not related to Reiki in particular... if you were in room of 20 children it would be very difficult to give each of them the individual attention that they need whereas if you were in a room with an individual child or a small group then it would be much easier to see what their individual needs were and to respond accordingly. I have tried in the past using Reiki boxes and lists because I wanted to send Reiki to everyone that requested it, but in the end I felt that I wasn't being very effective and so these days I limit my distance work to a very small number at a time. Sometimes less is more as the saying goes! :))

Maybe in the end it is just what feels right for each of us as individuals.

Gentle Blessings
Helen

alicel,

/*\ Namaste :-))

- to beign with, I assume that all those on anyone's list have given permission for the reiki

- and, I am wondering how you send to a list (which is an inanimate thing or construct) without sending to thew members of the list individually?

- now, one perspective on the 'individual versus group' issue is that it is a 'research' question - one would have to try and test out single versus multiple recipients

- one of the major problems, of course, is how one measures or assess effectiveness of energy work in a reliable, repeatable fashion

>:-}}

- since such studies are, in many ways, unfeasible and prohibitive, we are left to seek feedback from those who recieve the energy

- it is those who try to use the energy for their own well-Being (the recipients) who can say anything of value, afterall

- hope this helps

Thanks for the replies so far.

I belong to a Sunday distance Reiki share group of Reiki practitioners who send weekly to the list of those who choose to participate. At some time on Sunday, everyone on the list sends Reiki to the greater good of all on the list.

I know there are Reiki practitioners who send to a list daily, for those who have requested Reiki for various ailments.

I'm wondering the best way to get Reiki healing in one session to a number of people who need it, without "diluting" the energy, and with the intention that all recipients receive what they need.

Thanks again.
Peace.

- one view is that each member of the list must, in essence, be 'treated as an individual' - there is no way around this since a list is not a living entity

How do you suggest one does this? Read each person's name and need out loud? Mentally intend that they all receive Reiki individually, while sending to the list at once, or are you saying it won't work to send Reiki to a list because of this problem?

Thanks again, firekeeper.

- yes, you point out several of the issues with 'lists', grids, etc.

- as for saying anything out loud? Not necessary (at least not in Reiki)

- as for the energy being diluted by a list???

- I am afraid I have never quite grasped how that would work (unless one is using personal energy which is, I would say, finite) - ULE is, for all practical purposes, infinite

- having said that, I will offer that Intention and Mindfulness may wane in which case the work will be affected (perhaps by less energy geting where it was intended)

- but, less ULE is not diluted ULE, afterall

Good evening Alice, your question several in a group or receiving Reiki alone makes me think how effective it can be,I feel it depends on each person as to how open they are there is no limit on reiki energy if we are open to receiving it in a group or alone, I feel this is the blessing reiki gives us all, i,am not saying that the master sending reiki dosn,t have and effect on the level of reiki being sent, I feel they do as well as the person receiving. Thank you for stirring up the old gray matter.

my question would be....if we truly believe that we are all one...within Spirit....and Reiki merely enhances that...then would we not be "connecting" and sharing Reiki healing in that way? Our intent being Reiki healing to the highest good of all.....in this cause all of the folks working together on the list?

Dear Mr. Firekeeper,

I think sending to a list means sending to the group of people on the list, not the list itself. The list itself can be seen as a tool for focusing intent on those people.

Just a thought.

Dear Mr. Firekeeper,

I suppose if you read each of the names and fix them in your mind, you can do it. I'm just theorizing here.

As for myself, I don't do it. I really am not sure it works. I'd rather just send to one person at a time, and be certain.

Rock On!

Carole & Ms. Roxy, and all others interested in answering:

Thanks for your interesting replies so far. IMHO, I do believe that it's possible to send Reiki to a list, but that there must be a method of doing so that is most effective at reaching each individual on the list. Especially if there isn't much information available on each person beyond a screen name, (for example, a Reiki Share of Reiki practitioners who have all given permission and pledged to also send Reiki to the same list).

Can anyone illuminate this with typing a step-by-step kind of thing that you might do in order to send to a list in this way?

Thanks again and blessings.
Alice

could visualization play a part....if you're all visualizing a matrix, a medicine wheel...with each person a spoke...stars in the universe connecting....since you're all doing it at the same time with the same intent...seems to me that it'd be no different then being in a Reiki Swap where you're all in the same room.....this time the room is just the Universe...

Well, it's not really at the same time, just that sometime on Sunday, we all send to the list. But I like the imagery, ponderings, and appreciate your thoughtful insights!

Alice,

Why not try doing this:

Lay down the distance symbols as though it were a bridge between you and the recipients. Imagine the names on your list as people standing on the other side of the HSZSN bridge. Then send the Reiki over the bridge as though it were sunlight, engulfing each recipient equally, as much as they need.

Depending on the power of your imagination, you can do a full body treatment, zooming in on their heads, then necks, shoulders, and on down. Just imagine everybody's scalps on the other side of the HSZSN bridge, and send Reiki like sunshine.

Or you could just let them all sunbathe in it to their heart's content. No fear of Reiki sunburn! ;)

Hi Alice,

If I had to send to every single person individually on my distance list, I'd never get anything else done. I don't think we can use finite metaphors to describe infinite ULE.

So if we're the "garden hose" watering one plant with a stream of water, do we worry if the plant gets too much water? In the garden, yes. With Reiki, no. If we're the garden hose now spraying the entire garden, each individual plant is watered but obviously less since the water is now distributed over all the plants. Again, this is the physical finite garden. I don't think it matters with Reiki.

Then there's the matter with the list or pictures, etc. I use them. But like the Reiki symbols, they are tools. Technically, I should be able to send to whomever wishes Reiki without the "training wheels". But I haven't yet and I don't know if I will.

You do have me thinking about working on just one individual by distance which I will do from time to time if I think they need extra attention or I think somehow my focus matters on whether or not they receive what they need. If I really thought ULE was going to go where it is intended, I should not need to do this. I don't want to use my own energy.

Thanks for making me think. (that's for the rest of ya too)

Here comes another dumb question....I thought I'd read that while working through the Universe (distance healing)....that there is no time or space....and that was partially why we didn't need to work as long with an individual in distance....as we do with an individual in person???

I really do think that each individual is deserving of our undivided attention whether we are working with them in person or by distance.

Also, lists and similar commonly used 'tools' are from a magical tradition, not from a Reiki one.

Here is something I found on Reiki-4-all about sending to a list at once. That's where I participate in the Sunday Share list.

(add the appropriate web prefix).reiki-4-all.com/index.php?showtopic=2561

I liked this, which I took from a reply there:
Diane's method -

My routine is very simple, which I guess is why I do it every day. When I
go to sleep, I fold all who I am sending Reiki to into a space between my
hands that are cupped lightly together (like praying but not totally flat).

Size does not matter; I can hold the whole planet in my hands if that's what
I choose to do, or just crowds of tiny people--like the Reiki_On list.
Unless there is someone I'm deliberately focusing on, I don't try to
individualize them by saying names...I just let the awareness of them stay
at the threshold of consciousness, where I know all their vibrations are
even if I am not fully conscious of them. I just let myself resonate with
that, intending to make the connection.

For the sending, I hold my hands over my heart chakra in this "prayer
pose" and do a quick sequence of CKR/HSZSN/CKR/SHK/CKR (sometimes
visualizing them shining inside my hands, sometimes floating over the
surface), and then ask the Reiki energy to go to whoever opens to receive
it, continuing as long as the energy is needed. Then I just let the energy
burn there until I fall asleep, trusting the sending to "end" at the proper
time for each person in the sending.

I find it's a very simple, but very powerful, technique.

So many people send to lists in different ways, that I don't believe it can't be done, or that it takes something away from the power and effectiveness of Reiki. I'm just searching for the way that will best work for me, and hoping this wonderful Reiki community can help me find inspiration and insight.

Thanks, love & light.
Alice
