Can one learn to see energy colors?

Love & Light,

I'm wondering if it's possible to develop the visual awareness/ energetic sensitivity to see auras & energy flowing? I would dearly like to have this ability.

I asked the Reiki in my mind as I was channeling the energy the other night, and felt as if I received an answer to use the ckr on my eyes and third eye chakra, and send Reiki there. I did this, and felt like I was sitting in the sunshine on a hot summer day. Encouraging, but I wonder what I need to do from here.

Suggestions anyone?

BTW, I have "The Reiki Touch" which has a DVD and CD that may have procedures I have yet to explore.

In gratitude for the wisdom of the Reiki community here.

Hola, sweet Alice. You ask good questions. I've found that the more folks I put my hands on...and my intent with...the more I've been able to see (internally)(what I believe) is their energy. The quieter I am...and the more that I do it....the easier it is. Auras...I've only seen a few...and that was by squinting my eyes and looking beyond the individual. Trees are easier.
My first aura was my husband and he was singing Irish songs...with since spirit....gathering spirits in our home...his was pale green...not extending very far from his body...without any breaks. As I relaxed...didn't have to squint so much. Have seen a few others (people that I have strong connections with) but they've usually been clear. All these words and I'm really not the person to help you, huh...

Alice,i,am reading a book on What Color Is Your Aura by Barbara Bower, Ph.D. she makes the statement of seeing aura around people at a very early age assumed everyone else seen it to. I read that if you look at a person straight on then move right or left and observe them then stepping in front of them it was posible to view the aura it takes pratice, i,ve tried it and will have to keep at it hoping to see it to. I have two masters who are a great help and are very deep into energy, this site has has great input i,am sure you will get the information you need.

What works for me is sending energy _out_ through the third eye, and noticing what comes bouncing back. (Maybe slightly analogous to a dolphin's sense of echolocation.) Often it looks like convection currents; colors sometimes also appear. For training, I like to do it with people who have a developed ability with moving energy around -- look at 'em when they're not doing anything in particular, then when they're sending energy out through their hands in energy healing, also when they're practicing taijiquan or qigong. Reiki often looks to me like a golden light, although at other times it's purple.

Thank you Bruce, LED and Poderings, for your attention to my question.

I'm starting to try using Gyoshi Ho, and see if that will help to familiarize me with using my eyes to work with energy as well as my hands. When I send Reiki, and when I do hands-on, my eyes are usually closed. Sometimes I see swirling colors (currents, like you described Bruce) behind my closed eyelids, but nothing specific.

I appreciate the advice. I'm not used to trying to send energy with my eyes, and so at the moment it feels a little forced, like I'm trying to be Superman using his x-ray vision :D I'm hoping that perseverance, practice and relaxing will help me get past that initial feeling.

Thanks again.

Dear Alice,

In my humble experience I've found that is seems the more one endevours toward a certain ability; the more it eludes grasp.

It seems often that when one gives up or releases expectation and goes back to the basics, then things start kicking in.

Wonderful and adventure but often not exactly the original desire. I would suggest being open to whatever. Your Guides might have something better in store. If you get mono focused on one thing, you might miss it.

Hi Alicel, I agree with the previous post trying too hard you may miss something, some people 'feel' colour around another person, others see it with the physical eye others with their third eye/internal eye. Relax and how you see/feel/sense these things will be revealed, don't get too hung up on what other people claim should happen, we are all different with different talents and gifts, a close friend who practices pyschic surgery in the UK can see internal organs throughout the body of the person he is working on whereas his partner senses the internal body, both different both equally fantastic at what they do honouring the special gifts each of them has.

Thank you, Katy and Arati for your good advice. I'll keep on working with the energy and be mindful and aware of what's happening.

I do feel that the more I work with Reiki, the more I am aware of certain sensations regarding the energy. It could be a matter of time and experience.

Peace and gratitude.

If you think of it that way, you'll send energy out through your (physical) eyes. Instead, I suggest sending energy out through your third eye and letting it come back _in_ through your (physical) eyes.

Well, that _sounds_ good. What if it were applied to a child's first attempts at walking?

Dear Bruce,

I would think that one has to somewhat master standing and balance before getting anywhere with walking.

Hi, Michael,

So in light of your first message on this thread . . . . After the first 10, 20, or 50 times a child falls over while trying to walk, would you say the child should give up the attempts at walking and should instead practice standing?

Dear Bruce,

A big difference between 10 or 50 times.

To your question, I was not suggesting "giving up". But after 50 times of taking a carpet dive, working on standing balance would seem to be in order.

Hi, Michael,

You think kids don't fall 50 times before they master walking? Interesting idea. Thanks for your response.

Dear Bruce,

I don't recall saying that. Or thinking it.

It seems you are playing fast and lose with the numbers again to boot. Falling 50 times an afternoon or 50 times a day, week, month?

Huh??? Why do you say "playing fast and lose [sic] with the numbers???"

Here is what you said:
" A big difference between 10 or 50 times.
To your question, I was not suggesting 'giving up'. But after 50 times of taking a carpet dive, working on standing balance would seem to be in order."

Please explain how taking your statement at face value is "playing fast and lose [sic] with the numbers."

After you've explained that, we can start to look at specifying a timeframe to answer your question.

Thanks.

Bruce

Alice, Francisco Cole undertook to teach humans to see energy, guides, etc. You can connect with them through the internet, as IPMers.

As for myself, I see energy naturally, plus colors, configerations etc. Seeing is a gift of the Earth energy which Cole called, Visionary. Air people often see naturally also. I am air/earth, so I did not have to learn. However, I did the early exercises Cole gave us.

Look in a mirror to see your own energy. To do this, do not use your focus, but rather learn how to see with your perifery vision. It takes time to get this. Be ralaxed all the time. When I first saw Cole's aura, he was lecturing in a barn, we were sitting on bales of hay. I began to see above his head, something that stood up and was between me and the barn wall. I could detect when his head passed over the cracks or seams between boards in the wall behind him. His hallo was above his head and was connected by a stem to the back of his head. Oncde I saw this, I caught on how to focus when looking at my own energy in the mirror. Doing it this slow way, let me know what I was seeing when I saw it. Identify.

Lazaris has tapes out on Aura Vision. He teaches how to see and process each chakra.

Now, I seldom look. But if I wanted to, I could easily focus. during the years I had clients, I automatically saw each person's energy field when they entered my office. I could see one of their guides or else one of mine would translate for me.

I do not trust quick study of lots of things at once. Take your time. Let your eyes know that you are now wanting to see all the things you saw as a young child and taught yourself not to see because of the attitude of your environment. We all were discouraged to recognise our vision.

There is nothing wrong with the way Bruce, for instance, learns.

Love & light to all.

I appreciate the discussion this question seems to have stirred, and the different viewpoints expressed only show me different options that are open to me in learning how to relate to and live through the Reiki energy. Thank you all.

Whether I end up running before I walk, falling flat and trying to skate instead, going back to basics, or finding another route to understanding is yet to be decided as time moves on and my journey continues.

In any case, reading your ideas really does help, and please don't spar about it. Clearly there are many ways of tapping in, and mine will surface eventually, and probably gradually, as most of you seem to agree.

Finality, I will look into Francisco Cole, and thank you. (Though, what is an IPMer?)
I tried looking in a mirror (the kind of funny details are on my blog) and the more I relaxed, the scarier I seemed to look - wrinkled and kind of haggard, tired and worn out completely, and severe too. Rand said to use a loving expression, though soften focus and stare. Well, on me at least, that softened expression doesn't look very loving, it looks way serious and a little scary. It distracted me. I have more luck seeing a little aura around my hands as I send distant Reiki in a dimly lit room. (Then I don't have to look at my own face - oy!)

I don't remember seeing more things as as child than I do now, but maybe I did. Much of it is a blur. But I love Reiki and what I've experienced thus far, and I love each step along my journey of energetic discovery.

Thanks to all of you for being a part of it.
Gratitude, love & peace.

Dear Bruce,

I noticed that in casting out words, like declaring what I think for example; you were quite weak on detail or tangible reference. And sought to have the last word after declaring what I think.

We could go on and on here in a battle of egos but I will concede to your greater skills of barrister babble at this point.

Dear Michael,

I just gave you the tangible reference of what you'd said. If you now want to backtrack from your silly claim that I'm playing fast and "lose" with the numbers, then so be it.

Take care.

Alice, IPM is the initails for Inner Peace Movement. Cole is now dead and his son is in charge. We called ourselves IPMers. His son now uses that title for what he does.

When practicing seeing one's own aura, do not look at yourself but above your head and beside it, over your shoulders, etc.

Every child begins life seeing auras. Parents discourage the child because they were discouraged. We now have to change this attitude so children can grow up seeing.

Yeah. Persevering despite falling (over and over again) is part of the process of acquiring the skill of walking. As well as other skills.

I am perhaps the latter. Make up your own mind, and not let others make up your own mind for you.
