Hi all,
Namaste :)
It's been fairly quiet here lately. So just in the interests of sharing, would anyone like to share what Reiki has been most successful with or changed most in their lives or the lives of those that they have treated ?
And to develop the discussion a little further; are those changes/outcomes different to your initial expectations of Reiki? Have you ever expected Reiki to work in a way that perhaps it has not? Has that now changed your perspective on healing compared to when you first started out with Reiki? Do you feel that Reiki has developed you spiritually; was this what you expected?

Good questions, Helen. Hope you'll be sharing here, too. I guess I had no expectations....just knew that Reiki was my next step on my pathway. Seems like it's been going on forever. As Fushella and I were sharing two steps forward, three steps back....with ego or old patterns tending to get in the way. I was blessed to be a part of a new spirit center where I met three ladies, a massuese, a Reiki master, and a yoga therapist. The center wasn't meant to be, but we remained friends. I love circles....Reiki has enhanced all of the techniques that I've been using for years, but most of all...
I think it's made me get "me" out of the way...I listen to what the body is telling me better....insights come that have nothing to do with me....so, that I truly feel I'm being used as a vessel....a conduit. I've always felt close to Spirit, but my gratitude has only grown daily..thanks to Reiki. Thank you, Helen...now, I await your words, my friend.

Helen,
Reiki has changed my life in many ways. I really wasn't sure what to expect when I started this journey, but my life hasn't been the same since. It has really changed for the better. I'm a much calmer person and much more positive. I'm also more aware of chakra energy. One of the great changes is the connection to spirit. I feel very close to spirit and prayer has become a part of my life. I feel that Reiki is a true blessing. I'm very grateful and thankful to be a part of this wonderful universal healing energy. Thank you so much for your post.
Blessings,
Christine

Firekeeper,
Namaste :)
Yes of course :) In the beginning I allowed those expectations to get in the way. In a way I wanted to 'heal' everybody and everything, with their permission of course :) Initially when I gave Reiki treatments I was like a conductor trying to conduct an orchestra, directing it this way and that! :)) But as I have progressed I have learned to let go of any expectations and step aside. It took a long while for me to 'get it' but when I did, it made keeping my own energy out of the equation so much simpler and Reiki so much more effective :)

Hi ponderings,
Namaste and thanks for sharing :)
It's good that you had no expectations. So many people come into Reiki expecting it to feel this way or that or do this or that. I was one who had expectations :) It took a long while to get 'me' out of the way, but I think that I've reached a place now where I have a better understanding. Letting go of the expectations, attachments was hard but makes Reiki so much more effective.
I certainly understand about the two steps forward and three back :) Sometimes it feels that we have to take a step backward and stand still for a while to truly appreciate just what a journey it has been and not always a smooth one at that! :))

Hi Christine,
Namaste and thanks for sharing :)
Have you noticed that many Reiki practitioners seem to have that air of calm about them? :) Teachers at the school I work in have commented that I bring a sense of calm into the classroom; I've not told them about Reiki because I am still a little shy when it comes to letting people know that I'm into Reiki :))

Hi Helen,
Now that you mention it people quite often comment about the air of calmness around me. Like you I don't say much in return. I would say that some of the reiki people I've been around have that same presence but not all of them. I find that really interesting. What has been your experience in regards to that? I know that when I just even think about reiki I feel myself becoming more peaceful and calm.
Blessings,
Christine :)

Dear Helen,
I would have to say my whole perspective, inner and outer has changed since the first attunement. My spiritual growth pretty much started there it seems. Due to Reiki influence I am a different person. And continue to change and evolve.
I really did not have any distinct expectations coming into it. I kindof donned my water wings, pinched my nose shut, screwed my eyes closed and jumped in like a little kid hopping off the diving board for the first time. Wasn't altogether sure what I was jumping into (dang blasted veil ; )) but knew it was something I had to do.
Of course there was some level of expectation albeit hazy; I did do some reading beforehand. Upon much later reflection I found Reiki attunement to be a much bigger, profound thing than I expected.
Namaste,
Michael

Helen.I like to share the peace and contentment reiki has brought to me with everyone in need, it has brought me to the present my days are so much better planned, things go so much smoother, my awareness is sharper, colors are a greater factor I keep moving ahead, I feel the kindness of others more, attuning to different things searching for answers to energy and how to use it better. Reiki has been good to me I feel it has served you well also. Here i,am seventy and unloaded by hand three ton of stone in three days no stiffness or soreness I do my reiki everyday it works,I just love what is does for me and others. This isn,t the end of my share but others will share with you and I like reading their input. Love and blessings.

On a similar tangent I am in awe of your physical core resilience and strength.

Michael,at this age of 70 everybody is slowing down and people shake their heads and tell me to slow down, reiki removes the stress from my body otherwise i.d be so stiff and sore I couldn.t move,just ask me reiki works and I sure thank the day I was introduced to reiki,I know I should act my age and set in a rocking chair sipping tea but thats not me. Reiki has so much calmed me it seem as time has slowed down giving me more time to get my work done and the total peace it gives me is so rewarding, I hope it is this way for all who channel reiki. Love and blessings.

Hi Christine,
Namaste :)
Yes and I find myself repeating the principles at times too, when I find myself 'reacting' to something. Using the principles is something that i would like to do more work on :)
I think with regards other Reiki folk, sometimes I meet someone and can just tell they are into Reiki (without Reiki being mentioned). Without making judgements there are many things that lead people to Reiki and for some of those the intent is not just to help people. I guess like most things in life we are drawn to those we resonate most with. I have know Reiki practitioners that I feel completely at ease with and others whom I do not. That might be more about me and my comfort zone though, than it is about them if you see what I mean and there are always lessons to learn from everyone that we meet don't you think? :)

Hi Michael,
Namaste :)
I really like your analogy of the diving board because it really is like jumping off the deep end and trusting it is exactly as it should be :)
'Profound' Yes I would have to agree that the whole Reiki experience is life changing and profound. I wonder if all Reiki people feel that way or if there are some that just experience it without 'really' experiencing it if you know what I mean. :)

"so, do you think interjecting personal energy (expectations, biases, etc) into Reiki work is appropriate)??"
no....I think I've conveyed that the emptier I am....the better a vessel I am....but one does not even come to the place of connecting & sharing with another without having had prior personal energy, expectations, etc...to get there.
And you still didn't answer any of Helen's questions, sweet Firekeeper.
Thank you for your insight & wisdom. Good Sunday to you.

Otoharo!
Helen, I am just now reading your post. When I began with reiki, I had very little physical things to heal, but mammoth emotional issues to cope with. It was this area that reiki has been life changing for me every day. An issue would occur to me, I would do all I could and reiki would heal it all. Another issue would stick its head up and here we would go with that. Etc. Now I am in perfect health. My recent bout at the emergency room of the local hospital which was a result of eating spouled food, brought me in contact with the medical staff who were really empressed by how healthy I am at 83. (We lose the sense of smell and taste with aging).

So good to hear your voice, finality. I'm so sorry concerning the bout with bad food.....so glad that you got the care that you needed. Ouch!!! I agree with you that Reiki was first about helping myself. I know what you mean about no smell or taste. Hope you're back on your feet and dancing, cookie!

Ponderings,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- previously I said: "expectations are at the heart of personal energy"
- previously you responded: "and is this a good thing, Firekeeper or not???"
- so, please forgive my uncertainty as to your position
>:-}}
- and yes, we all have expectations, biases, hopes, fears, etc - but we must do our best to keep them out of Reiki work when we set to it
>:-}}
- for myself? my only proper task in Reiki work is to get the energy to those who have requested energy
- what each person does with the energy thereafter to help themselves is not proper concern for me (because, afterall, that would threaten to pollute the work with my personal energy if I were to add any intention to the energy other than its arrival to the recipient)
>:-}}
- but, perhaps we are somewhere on the same page - or at least within the same tome

Thanks for sharing. I am so glad that you recovered quickly from your recent sickness.
I love the way that Reiki works on so many different levels according to individual need. That lesson was reinforced to me again just today when giving Reiki :)
