Hello Everyone!
Is there such a thing as a "Healing Attunment"...one that you can perform on yourself, having the right instruction as to facilitate healing? Is that the name?
A reiki Master mentioned it to me a while ago and I didnt have the chance to talk about it, so I´m curious of it.
Thanks!

ladycyan,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- I have no idea what a "healing attunement" might be - proper Reiki attunements at the prescibed levels are healing - if one is able to utilize the energy for one's own benefit
>:-}}
- so, having said that, I would say that if one is not able to use self-Reiki practices for self-healing, then one is probably not going to do any better with a self-administered, so-called healing attunement
- of course, if you manage to find out the procedure for what is termed a healing attunement?? Who am I to say what you ought to do??
>:-}}
- hope this helps in some way

Dear Peter,
I totally agree with you. I´m just curious if this so called Healing Attunment is indeed an attunment or just a specific type of practise using symbols.
I will ask this reiki master that mentioned it as soon as I see her...but in the meantime, I thought I would ask to see if anyone else has heard of it.
Love,
LC

Ladycyan,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- 'healing attunements' have been mentioned here any number of times since I have been participating here but no one has yet to share with me (or, as far as I know, the Boards)exactly how one is supposed to perform a healing attunement as a procedure different from the attunements I learned for the various levels of Reiki training
- without knowing the procedures I have no way of assessing what if any differences there may be in Reiki Attunements and the so-called healing attunement
- for myself, I might be more inclined to add some rounds of Rei-ju as a means to try and further facilitate someone's connection to the flow of energy (and their ability to utilize it)
>:-}}
- perhaps inquire with the Reiki Master to who you refer??

I agree too. I had a healing treatment yesterday and the reiki master used symbols throughout and did alot of chanting. I never asked if it could be done on one self tho. It felt good to have someone else work on me! :)

Dear FK,
Yes I will definitely inquiry with this teacher sometime next week when I see her. I didnt know this was adressed before. And I will share the info if I get it :) so we can really know what type of procedure is this.
From what I understood it seemed to be some kind of attunment you could do it to yourself to increase your connection with the energy flow....But as you say, it´s hard to see how you could do this to yourself in an "attunment" sort of procedure.
No idea then. I´ll just keep asking to see if this becomes clear at some point and see in what type of lineage was this taught...if any.
Love,
LC

Ladycyan,

:-)
In "Reiki Master's Manual" by William Rand, he gives instructions on a "Healing Attunement". It's basically an attunement without symbols being placed into the hands, thus not initiating the person to Reiki.
The claim is that it brings in higher frequency healing energies "which are more powerful and effective than those given during a regular Reiki session" as per his book.
It encourages the recipient to be very participatory in focusing on the area of concern and use some visualization in setting intentions to let go of blocks that they may be having in their healing. This is done in preparation of the attunement.
I have not used this technique. I would think if a recipient were having trouble letting go of blocks and requested "something else" to be done for them, I'd suggest it, but ultimately the recipient does that work and I would help as I could.
It can also be used, as per instructions, to remove negative energy or to help empower goals.
I hope this helps you somehow.
Blessings to your work,
Mammabear

MammaBear,

- so, Rand teaches that the healing attunement (really sounds like a misnomer to me) is done only preparatory to a Reiki attunement??
- or does he also teach its use if someone is not going to take REiki Level 1??
- and, if someone already has the Level 1 Attunement, what does he say is the point of a 'healing attunement' after the fact??
- all seems a bit murky to me (but then, perhaps that is jsut me)

Weren't these all the rage a few years ago until people started realizing that it wasn't a temporary thing at all but an actual permanent attunement?
Then we learned that the original empowerments didn't use symbols either.
Just a thought.

The visualizations, etc. is prep work done prior to the healing attunement.
:-)
I suppose one could use this, as per Rand, in any case where healing is blocked whether one has had Reiki training (and thus "regular" attunements) or not.
I can pop you over a copy of the description if you'd like.
:-)
Did you see Tadao Yamaguchi is teaching in Boston? I have his coauthored book with Petter, The Hayashi Reiki Manual and find it very good.
Interesting that the claim is that Ketsueki Kokan technique is one of the "main" second degree techniques taught by Hayashi, but I was never even exposed to it in any of my Reiki levels.
So much to learn...

Reiki attunement are taught threw some masters teachers to master teachers. It is just another tool in the tool box as they say. All I know is we practiced them in our master teacher class. I loved it! Total relaxation and some of the students actually fell asleep during it. Some reported their pain gone arthritus, Don't know how long it lasted. It is a pretty intense process much like attunement with actually being attuned. Myself I felt a deeper connection to reiki and better mentally and physically. It is good for emotional problems, severe pain. The person recieving has the oportunity to respond with questioned asked and brings problems more to light. It takes time probably more time than a actual reiki session to get into it and be through. I wish I could find someone who lives near me who knows how to do. I was very lucky my teacher was very through when she taught us. Now I am realizing how lucky i was to find he.

I think what Mamma Bear described is very close to what I´ve heard/understood of the healing attunment. Didnt know Rand teaches it.
From what I know, this type of "attunement" doesnt initiate anyone to reiki, but it´s a like an "extra help" to the recipient to channel the energy correctly...and if you are a reiki master you could do it to yourself. I´m just describing what I know....not that I understand it fully or agree with it.

My point was that these 'healing attunements' are in fact actual attunements and those who are doing them should be aware of that. They should also be prepared to give instruction to those on whom they perform this ritual.
Your first sentence makes absolutely no sense to me so I can't decide what you are trying to say.

- Rand states that the healing attunement is not an initiatin into Reiki becasue the symbols are not placed into the hands
- well, energetically speaking that may simply be the dogma we are taught because, afterall, we are taught to do Reiki with ur hands
- however, one may just as easily do direct touch or remote Reiki with one's feet
>:-}}
- so, the symbols not in the hands issue, at least for some of us, is a rather spurious and murky distinction

- yes, it has been researched by Petter and others that Usui Sensei did not add symbol initiation into the teaching of Reiki until he had noticed that not all students responded well to the rei-ju practices designed to facilitate their connection to the flow of energy
- so, the story goes, the symbols that occurred to him thru intuition or perhaps were revealed to him were employed to facilitate with the 'less sensitive' (or perhaps less mindful) of his students
- and, with some many revisionist versions of Usui Sensei's teachings and what was passed to whom and when, well........

What happened to reiki works with intension? No one is intending to attune these people only trying to help them deal with problems. Not much different than using symbols to help in a reiki session I would imagine. This is passed down to new reiki master teachers class from old reiki master teachers. Maybe easier to understand. We ask questions and bring their problems to the surface. This helps them deal with it. As far as doing it to yourself you can try. But I would think that would be hard asking yourself questions and answering them bringing them to the surface and what is the point when we can just reiki ourselves and meditate. But Like I said I wish i knew someone near me who knows how to do a healing attunement. I can do them But I can't see any use trying to do it to myself. If you haven't had it done to you, It is hard to explain. It is just another tool to use. Not everyday but when needed.

Intention? Isn't that what is used to pave the road to some destination or another?
Helping them deal with problems? Hope the person doing this is a licensed therapist. If not there is a whole lot of liability involved.
This isn't Reiki, it isn't even good therapy, it is psycho pomp and much more likely to do harm than good over the long haul.

- I have to agree with you that a good bit of the 'leading suggestions' that are made to the client in healing attunments (as I have read their descriptins) fall into the realms of psychopomping - shaman's work, not Reiki as you so correctly note
- harm? any practitioner who attempts to introduce his or her own intentions into another thru energy work leave open the possibility for unexpected and not necessarily beneficial effects

Peter,
My point exactly, the majority of people taking a weekend master class are not Therapists or trained Shaman. Nor are they given more than a few minutes instruction on this. They don't have the skills on several levels to deal with possible fallout and harm to the person they are working on. It isn't Reiki, it is something else altogether. My personal opinion, it is also irresponsible of the instructor to place people (students and their clients) in harms way.

Namaste all :)
Interesting discussion. Many moons ago I knew of one Reiki Master who had some kind of procedure for opening the palm chakras to allow Reiki to flow, this was some kind of healing attunement but he stopped doing it or even discussing it because as I understand it, it was being misused in some way. I never really did 'get' why you would give someone a healing attunement rather than a full attunement anyway :)
But on that subject and at the risk of possibly of opening a whole new can of worms or spicing up the stew :)) Is it not at all conceivable that someone receiving Reiki regularly over a long period of time might use their intention to actually become attuned to Reiki(as well as healing) without a formal attunement? I am not trying to undermine in any way the tradition of passing Reiki on via traditional attunements, I just have always wondered whether this is possible, especially if say one had been Reiki in a previous lifetime for instance.
Gentle Blessings
Helen

Hello Helen,
Good to see you.
I can't give a definitive answer to that. I've never considered the possibility though I have wondered about other things concerning the attunement process and its effects. (if I ever have the answers to those questions I will share them :-)) I think though the intention would have to be clearly through both parties involved, and that being the case it wouldn't be a treatment.

You still don't understand you would have to be trained in it to know all the steps and I can't expalin it all on the web as It is taught in a class. we don't tell them anything or suggest anything they don't even have to answer out loud it's their choice. just ask questions. To bring it to the surface for them to accept. What is differnt with that or someone comming in telling you their problems and listening. We just listen. Sometimes that is all they need someone to listen. This must be why it is only being taught in teacher classes being Trained and brought up to understand this eventual. It would be hard to explain it all you are only getting pieces of information and not the whole story or trained to do it then you jump to conclusions as you are unfamiliar. It was taught in my reiki master teacher class to mastersin the class and we were brought threw the whole process gradually to be able to do this and it is wonderful.
My reiki master class wasn't a week-end class it took months of study and I had a very thorough teacher and I worked very hard to learn all I could. And yes she is a real professor or teacher what ever you want to call her she has taught in college as a actual professor and highschool science and math and english, she is actually trained and licensed to teach. And yes her lineage is from Rand. My teacher knows him personally. I would suggest if you don't know what it is all about it then don't use it. I will feel comfortable using it as I have had training to do so. There are many types of energy healing just because we aern't trained in them or familiar with them does this make them bad? Who are we to judge what works and don't? It is used by many reiki practioners and hasn't killed anyone yet and no lawsuites that I have ever heard of. But like i said you can't really do it to yourself. It may seem strange to you all who never heard of it or been trained in it. But to people who never heard of Reiki. Reiki sounds strange to them. Some it even scares, But does that mean reiki is evil? Does this mean reiki is bad? I would suggest either learn it or stay away from it what ever you are comfortable with, Your choice. But you shouldn't bad mouth something you obviously know little of. This admitted by several of you here. How would you explain to someone in reiki 1 or someone off the street what you have learned in reiki master teacher class with out any knowledge of what you have learned up the process? Then try to teach them or tell them about things you learned in master teacher class and why would you even try? Could you? Holly cow you guys sound like a bunch on a witch hunt! L.O.L

Helen,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
- if we assume, for the sake of discussion, that an Attunement may only be consummated when a proper Master interacts with a willing and ready student in the prescibed manner, then unintentional attunements are not possible
- now it may be that someone who has received Reiki treatments regularly for many years may learn to use the energy more effectively over time (which might be described as being 'in tune' with the energy) but without knowledge of the symbols or the intentions involved in attunements will not become attuned (as it is defined in Reiki)
- for some, being in tune with the flow of ULE is quite enough and will allow them to explore a bit - which may mean Reiki training or Yoga, or Tai Chi, or.........??

It is my belief what ever good that is.
All of us have reiki to begin with, the classes just teach us to use it, a start on a adventure. How many other healing techniques are stored in us that come to light when learning and advancing with reiki. Who knows for sure. It is individual to everyone in my opinion. What works for some may not work for others. Find what interest you, or comes to you and enjoy it.
We all find other little things that work with reiki like firecracker listed. Throw in some shaman,healing touch, maybe something that just comes to you, Might not work for everyone but if you feel comfortable to use it. I say go for it!
Reiki is an adventure to me! I never where know it will leed me next! But I love the journey!
