The Reiki Cafe 

Hi I'm new to this board and to Reiki. I've had a few experiences I want to share and ask if any of you have experienced any of it. I know it's different for everyone- maybe someone can shed a light on it for me.

1. When I did a session on my sister, my face got seriously hot- the heat was beaming from my entire face- it felt like it was on fire- it didn't hurt. My sister said she didn't feel anything during the entire session.
What do you make of this?

2. I did a distance Reiki on my mom - who lives in another state. She feels something each time. The other night- this was maybe the 3rd session with her. I was so exhausted- I almost feel asleep- keep in mind I was wide awake before I got started on her- then my right hand began to hurt like crazy- I couldn't ball it up - I couldn't move it at all. -this was all happening during her session. She didn't know I did the session b/c I hadn't talked to her that day- we do it daily- so I had her permission.
I talked to her the next day & asked her how she was feeling - she told me- the day I did the Reiki- that she was seriously exhausted - she had taken the day off & her right hand & wrist were hurting really bad. I put 2 & 2 together and came up with the notion that I was feeling her pain & tiredness. Is this possible???

3. When I'm doing a Reiki session and I don't get any feeling from my hands or anywhere else - Is the Reiki still flowing?

4. What if I don't get any feeling from the person I'm providing Reiki- Is it still working on them?

5. Is it possible that the Reiki can come from other parts of the body?

Sorry for all the ?'s but the person who attuned me doesn't have time to answer any of my questions or to send me my textbook. So I'm kinda swimming in the dark right now.

Nice to see another new face on here as I am fairly new myself. I am a Reiki Master/Teacher from Canada and I hope I can offer you some opinions on your questions.

1. You may need to ground yourself more. I always make sure to ground and whitelight myself alot before I work on family as there is alot of attachment there.

2. Sounds like you worked really well with the distance reiki on your mother. I always say assume nothing and expect anything. Yes, it is possible to feel as she does. Don't take it on for her though as you try to help, just let it flow.

3. The Reiki is flowing even if you do not feel it. "Let your ego go and Reiki will flow." Give yourself time to pratice more and you may feel it or you may not it is still working. Just ask your Mom..LOL!

4. Number three answers this as well.

5. Yes it does in my opinion. Once you are attuned to Reiki it is in you and it can generate from anywhere on the body.

I have found through my own experiences that if people are just talking to me about an issue or ailment that alot of time they call me up later and will say, "What did you do my ________ is better."

Play with it, enjoy it and enjoy the experience.

Thank you healinghands :) You helped a lot. I will try to be more grounded when working with family members and let go of everything and let the Reiki flow. I truly appreciate you taking the time to read & respond to my post. My mind is clearer now.

I agree with the other post. Spend a year or so allowing reiki I to work for you on yourself and on your friends and family. this is the most important part of using reiki. this first year of practice. Eventually you will lose the sensations you are now having as your body familiarizes itself to reiki. Reiki will continue and seem even more powerful without the sensations.

Welcome and thank you for giving this wonderful site and Reiki a chance. I am a Reiki practioner and soon to be master/teacher. I love to do Reiki and sometimes i feel their pain and let it go to the light and then the universe takes care of it. I feel Reiki everywhere in my body. It sometimes comes out more areas than others. I agree always try and ground your self and protect your self with your color energy bubbles. I'm feeling green blue and white for you, right? Surround yourself with this colorful bubble. It will help to protect and to keep yourself cleansed during and after. I wear my bubbles at all times. I hope this helped!!!

Energy bubbles???? I have never in all of my practicing heard of that. Could you explain that in a post to this site as I don't want to take away from the discussion at hand here, although you have peeked my interest.

Not sure how others surround with energy "bubble". I can only speak for myself. Start with your center and intend white light of the creater to fill your center. Extend this light through the body filling all parts. Finish by filling the energy field. Intend for the energy to surround you as if you were in a bubble of proective white light.

I understand what you are saying blackearth. That is what I would interpret through what I know as "whitelighting" myself. I think that harmony421 is speaking of something else. I am always willing to learn knew ways to do things and techniques.

I'm not familiar with the energy bubbles either but would like to know more about them. harmony421, you mentioned I seemed like a green,blue & white, what do the colors mean? How do I give the feelings I receive or feel on the other's behalf to the light?

I agree with the advice you been given here

I have experienced the things you mentioned in my own practice,
sometimes I find I get all this sensations on my hands and body and my clients don't feel a thing, or the reverse can be true. The Reiki Master that taught me once told me that even when nothing is being felt great healing can be taking place.

Also keep in mind that doing Reiki on others also has a Healing effect on you, so aside from empathy( feeling such empathy for your recipients that you actually feel their pain/symptoms) your own blockages , and personal issues and/or illnesses begin to surface so it is important to keep grounded and centered and also work on your self as much as possible to keep yourself healthy and clear. In the case of empathy I found that when I choose to let go of the people I am healing to care for their own health and life( after all in most cases they are capable of making their own decisions) the pain goes away,thats why when I teach a Reiki class I take the time to tell my students to do their best to let go of any attachment to the outcome, for in most cases the responsibility for someone's health falls on them. However when it comes to people we love this can be difficult.

hi naviblu, you certainly have been given good advice from everyone, you must feel almost like you have been cast adrift your master hasn't time to answer your questions? I feel you were led to this site to fill the gap her/his attitude has left. keep up the good work and know not all reiki people have this outlook, I'm sure you will make many friends on this site.

Thank you Katy. I did feel thrown into the wind by my master. She told me I could come to her with any questions or feelings and when I did- I got no response. It hurt me but I'm so glad I found this board and the wonderful people on it!
