I have been thinking about getting a Reiki Tattoo and I wonder if anyone has any words of wisdom for me.
It is not of one of the Reiki symbols themselves. I want to get the Reiki symbol that I have posted for my picture on here.
Either on my wrist, shoulder or lower back.
Blessings
Healing Hands

Howdy.
I got a tattoo not so long ago. About an inch square on my left shoulder. If I have any regrets it that I can't look at it to admire without a mirror or twisting at a near impossible angle. lol.
If I were to get another, it'd be somewhere astheticaly pleasing and a pleasure to the eye. My own particularly, and to others.
In other cultures, one would get a tattoo to describe their journeying. I got one of the kanji for drum. Personally pleasing to me, though no-one else knows the meaning, unless they ask.
If your unsure of where to get it, and what size, I'd suggest to henna a couple on various parts of your body, and since henna fades after a while, you could then decide where you'd want the tattoo on a permanent placement.
Or some other means.
Remember a tattoo is for life.
Rock on!

Such wise words, jaguar. I call my husband the painted man. He wants me to have him skinned and made into a lampshade, if he should pass without me.....I ain't gonna do it! His artwork is truly beautiful, though, Healing Hands. Have fun with whatever you do, my friend.

Hello Healing Hands,
I think that you should do it if that is what you want. It wouldnt be violating any rules. If anything it shows your dedication to Reiki. And that in it's self is powerful!
love and light, harmony

Avoid tattoo inks that contain metal like iron oxide. They could react adversely if at some point you were to undergo an MRI.

Thank-you all for the great words of advice. I wanted one at 19 and chickened out. I am 36 today! And I still want one. Probably a good thing I never got one at 19, it probably would have been tweety bird....LOL

happy b'day. I was 35 when I got a tatt. And like yourself wanted one for years, but was afraid of others reactions.
My sis is my biggest critic, lol.
When she saw my tatt, she said it was nice and not to big and could be hidden under a shirt if needs be. and she hates tattoos.
Enjoy the day. I think I'll get another. have to research what and why.. hmm.

I saw a bald man with a tattoo across his forehead that said,"I see you." When he walked away I looked back and saw he had eyes tattooed on the back of his head. "WHAT THE ___!!!!" LOL

Amazing!
I'm totally mazed my what some people do.
I once saw a bald man with whatever remaining hair remaining on his head at back of neck, shaved into an approximate of a barcode.
It looked cool.
So did you get the tattoo?

I have this on my neck. My only advice to get an artist who will follow it exactly - you don't want it to end up meaning something else. (As a side note, the back of the neck doesn't really hurt at all) I have other tattoos as well, the kanji was my third. And I have to say, at 39, I would get another one.
Blessings

Healing Hands - I had a Reiki symbol tattooed on my solar plexus on my 60th birthday! Wanted it in a private place just for me. That same year I had a star done on my right palm. A star is very significant for me. Prior to each Reiki session, I place my right palm over my solar plexus and say a prayer for guidance. I have noticed an increase in energy. Most people don't notice the star, aren't sure they saw it, and don't say anything. I had others who come right out and ask me about it - had some great conversations with people. Every time I shake hands with someone I feel like I am passing on special blessings through that star.
I would advise that a tattoo in the palm is extremely painful. My artist tried to talk me out of it. As with any tattoo, the pain is part of the process. I love mine and have never been sorry I got them. Anadarko

...that's good advice.....one would not want to end up with a fine representation of a Chu Ku Reimond. or a Se He Kia.

I was thinking of getting another, I can't believe I've the one I have for the last two years!!! Seems like only yesterday, (sigh)If I am to get one, its going to be very small, on the inside of my fore arm say.
Speaking of kick ass tattos, I just recently saw this fella had tattos all over his ass. And I mean that literally folks!
