Anyone do any channeling?

We learned how to channel in our Reiki two class. I haven't done much with it. Anyone else practice their channeling?

I'd be hesitant to do any channeling. There's too much danger of attracting malevolent spirits.

Otoharo!

You mean you actually were taught this in a reiki class? My! My! People seem to be dumping everything into reiki.

There are safer things to learn in Reiki class like say..how to pop wheelies on your motorcycle.

dolphin,

- what, precisely, do you refer to when you say 'channeling'?

Basically just using your own intuition. We all channel whether we realize it or not. I was doing some long distance reiki on a friend and got alot of messages from her without asking her. I asked her about them and she was amazed over it. I got a message that her low back was hurting and something with her heart. She told me that she has been having back spasms and she's been going to a dr. for a heart fluttering problem.

Yes my intuition sometimes "kicks in" during reiki and other energy work. Some examples from distance work on my father a few years ago: I saw his liver getting darker; it was later found that his stent was obstructed so bile was backing up and a liver infection resulted. Later I saw that his kidneys and liver really needed energy; it turned out that some of his pancreatic cancer cells had migrated to just outside those organs. On the other hand, sometime later his CT scans showed "tiny spots" of metastasis on his liver, and I hadn't noticed them while working on Dad. Later still I saw some sort of blockage in his left kidney; sometime after that, his doctors found the same thing. For distance work, intuitive flashes are most likely to come to me when I visualize working on the recipient as if he/she is right there in front of me.

But the term "channeling" often refers to having some sort of disembodied entity enter your body. That usage of the term seems to have been understood by some of the previous responses to your inquiry. (Good question for clarification, Firekeeper; you beat me to it.) I'm squeamish about such things due to autonomy issues. (That's just my immediate psychological reaction.)

Dolphin01 -- since you brought up the topic, could you say more about what you were taught in your reiki class about using your intuition?

Bruce,

- ahhh, occasionally I am 'coyote-on-the-spot'

bagl

- yes, I too confine the term channelling to the temporary integration of another entity with one's own Conscious\Subconscious for various purposes

- the integration not necessarily being sought with intention at every occasion nor the purposes being necessarily solely one's own at all times

>:-}}

- a spooky, though not necessarily scary or uninteresting experience

- Keys are the strength of one's Intention and the focus of one's Mindfulness (irregardless of whether the integration is sought or "spontaneous", so to speak)

Speaking of which...
My reiki teach taught us how to channel, I think. Angels and the like, the like of which that could work through us.
I didn't fully understand it.

good answer firekeeper, my first thought was 'here we go again! more misconceptions!' this is not strictly channelling, when we are 'healing' the energy is passing through us to the receiver either distance or not it makes no difference we do connect and therefore will see/feel/sense various things - not always - . We may use the word channel to describe the energy passing through us to the receiver. I practised trance mediumship for a few years so am well aware of the difference, its nothing to be scared of as your own guide/gatekeeper is there always to protect, though I feel very strongly this should only be done in a very loving environment with well practised and trusted people. love & light katy

Dear katy,

Indeed good points.

It's those finer points of caution / protection that are so important of course. And often skimmed over at best. Each are skill sets and subsets within themselves I'm sure you would agree.

This discussion brings up the biggest reason why I don't "walk around with Reiki on my sleeve". And why I often cast a leering eye at many who seek to utilize Reiki for their monetary abundance / income efforts.

I don't know another word for channeling because when I hear the word, I also think of some spooky thing going on.
We were taught (long distance "channeling") to put our hands about 8 inches apart and visualize the person or pet and then ask for permission to do a Reiki 2 (for me) healing session and channeled message. If you feel a yes, then draw in the symbols over you and then over the recepient. And then visualize the person and ask for help from their angels/guides and yours as well and just see what you get.
I usually get pictures - like photos or a movie.
I did one on a friend's horse and I saw the horse go rigid in his neck (pain in his neck). I also got a feeling that he was sad when his owner wouldn't listen to him and he wanted to go for rides with only her and not with other people and horses.
I closed the session like I would a reiki session and thanked all the helpers.
I told my friend what I saw and felt and she went out to check his neck and he was really SORE on one side.
I'm still so new at this that I don't dare try it on a stranger yet -- but I will keep practicing and see how it goes. If it helps someone, that's all that matters.
My reiki teacher told us that if we get NO messages, don't worry about it. It doesn't happen all the time. Just open up your intuition and let it all flow.

dolphin,

- do you get direct permission first??

- before doing any sort of energy work (which includes scanning)??

- with Reiki practices (and a few others) I would use the word "relay" - we relay the energy to another sentient being

- this eliminates the problem of the word 'channeling' which, generally, has rather specific and rather different meaning in the world of energy work (which includes psychic and shamanic work)

I recently came across a stone, said to aid in channeling.. e.g. when channeling the stone is said to help in letting go of any 'helpers', spirit guides etc.,

While I held it one night, I heard this inner 'voice'saying to carry it with me always.

Whatever.

However, I like the stone, and am carrying it with me everywhere.

I think its called shattukite.

The word "channeling" Immediately got me spooked.....After careful consideration and re-reading your posts and then for a second time...LOL. I was trying not to get hung up on the word rather what you were doing is what peaked my interest.

Putting your intuition into play is HUGE and of great importance in any type of "Energy Healing." Though as well don't make it your soul focus. You may read it as wrong and put forth wrong information. If you mention what it is in a respectful manner to your client they may have some neat insight on what you are recieving by intuition. Some Practitioners see things, some feel things, some smell, some taste things in their mouths, and some can even hear things. If you do any of these good for you, and even if you don't that is okay too. It does not mean that the Reiki energy is not working. Keep in mind that you are just the conduit for this energy to flow through.

Enjoy your experiences for when you give you recieve.

Many Blessings!

@arati
I'm sorry for your loss.
Know that even if you've lost your sacred stone, it doesn't mean that your stone is lost, or not sacred anymore. Take comfort that it still exists, and insomuch that all things are connected, your still connected.
some other stone will turn up for you, don't lament, but just remember the joys and the good times you had. :)

Thanks for the kind words Barto. If it does not come back it will eventually become some else's sacred stone which gives me comfort. And there is a chance that it's hiding because I had it out of mind for too long. We've gone thru that before.

Its funny about the stones. I, over time, had loads of different stones. For some reason or another, I gave them away. But find myself after a long while, missing their presenses in my life. I know they're still out there, as arati said, as someones sacred stone, but sometimes when I'm maudlin, would love to have them back. Its not going to happen of course, but knowing that they're still out there and being suitably placed is a strange kind of comfort.

Hi all,

Is channeling another thing added into Reiki classes? After awhile it becomes quite overwhelming with the number of things that are tacked on. Every teacher is different and seems to like to fill out a class with STUFF.

I'm not saying any of this may not be useful. Reiki is Reiki. Do we need anything else? Is Reiki so simple we need to add things to make a class worthwhile?

If channeling is tapping into another level of information that is between you and the client, that is part of Reiki. If the channeling is to bring an outside participant, I don't think I want to go there.

Just my thoughts rumbling around my head. I think I will leave well enough alone and not barter possible trouble.
