Is there a cleansing after a Reiki 2 attunement like there was after Reiki 1?
I heard from someone that Reiki 1 could be a physical cleansing and Reiki 2 could be a mental or spiritual one??

Well , for what I was taught by my master and my own experience , there is a cleansing period after each attunement, be it the first,2,3rd. however everybody feels it in a different manner I had students who had very powerful cleansing experience in one level( i.e physical, mental or emotional) or another and I had students who only needed some time to "digest" and integrate the energy from the attunment. So to answer your question more directly, In my experience there is a cleansing process and even though there sometimes are similarities on what people experience during that period the vast majority of the time it really depends on what needs to happen with each person, so there is no need to "expect" a specific type of reaction.

In my opinion, it is better to have no expectations. Stay relaxed and just experience what you (and only you) experience.

I think you're right, finality. Very often, I've felt nothing.....but as time went on....and I used what I'd been taught....and learned from those that I was working with....things just seemed to make more sense...seemed to click into place.....like a great puzzle....I've always loved that. "Staying open"...is so important....great question, dolphin.

- and, I would offer that from all the reports and comments that have come across my computer screen since coming to The Cafe it is more likely that those new to energy work will notice 'after effects' from attunements and even sometimes from Reiki work they do or receive well after their attunements

- since each level of Reiki training and practices taps into new levels of the mind-body-spirit triad it is possible for 'after-effects' to manifest at any point in one's development

As for my experiences, I don't think I had a very deep physical cleansing, or at least my awarness was limited.
But that doesn't mean that some sort of cleansing didn't happen.
I think the only time that I experienced something pretty darn deep, was when after a 'Golden Dragon' attunement, I went to a sweatlodge the following weekend. Which then, according to the worthies that participated in, was pretty darn deep indeed.
It took me about 6 months to recover. It seems to me in hindsight, that maybe all those other attunements I'd garnered built up, and up, until Wham! The Cleansing. It doesn't matter really.
Anyhoo.

Otherwise, I've got nothing.

I guess I was just a little worried because my cleansing after Reiki one was so rough on me. I've always had low level anxiety and then it went thru the roof. I ended up in the hospital twice and on horrible drugs after that. I couldn't take the side effects of them so I went off them. But I thought, "when will this end!!" At least I knew or had a feeling after talking to some reiki masters that this could just be a cleansing and it will pass in time.
It did. I still get a very low grade bout of anxiety every once in a while but there's usually a reason for it like, having to go to the dentist etc... Before, there was no reason for it - it was just daily.
I've been working hard at dealing with my issues with different healing energies - whatever I feel my body needs at the time and it has helped so much.
So far after my Reiki 2 attunement, I feel calmer if anything.

The cleansing really is unique to each person. My worst was a sniffle like my allergies were acting up and that was it for all 3 levels.

I suspect it has to do with how much of an adjustment you need to make to all the energy that stresses your body, and we all know all the different ways stress can affect the workings of body, mind and soul.

I was relieved I didn't have a gigantic cleansing waiting for me. I wonder why?

Hi Dolophin01,

From what I have seen going through attunments and other work of the sort and you will go through cleansing. It does NOT have to be negative though, or even intense. Treat the symptoms, remain positive, do not get cut up in drama, and I am confident you will be fine; BLESSINGS as you move on to the next stage of your JOURNEY!
