Distant, Proximal, or Contact?

In reiki: (giving and/or receiving)
What has been most effective at healing...
...distant sessions?
...proximal sessions (ie-within 12 to 15 feet)?
...or contact with body?

In other healing energy experiences:
The same questions.

What have you found to be true in these experiences, swarm, if I may ask?

Reiki on its own can be a powerful healing tool, regardless of how its applied. That being said, no single client responds to Reiki the same way, there are several factors that determine how "effective' a Reiki session is, especially on part of the Reciever. I have encountered some people who feel a bit ackward being on the Reiki Table recieving Reiki, they respond well to Distance Reiki. But I also found those who benefit the most from a, as you called it "Contact" session. In the it is necesary for both the Reciever and the Reiki practitioner to determine what is best for each reciever given the situation.

You are a very gracious responder, thanks.

That is something worth considering, and I'm glad you shared from your own experience.

The factors the recipient is comfortable with would definitely (it seems to me) have an affect on the effectiveness of a session. I hadn't thought about that...

But now I have for awhile (as you can tell from how long I waited to respond).

So, you stated that you think it is more about what the person is comfortable with than whether it is distant or in person.

However, have you noticed whether one is more or less effective than the other--in terms of how long the healing lasted, how thoroughly it healed, that sort of thing?

When someone requires lots of energy, I prefer hands-on contact. (Here's an example. Over a period of time I was sending energy long-distance to my father. When I later visited him in person, I noticed a sickly sweet sort of smell, which some who were familiar with his sort of condition noted was probably a result of a buildup of ketones. When I worked on him hands-on, the smell disappeared.)

Proximal healing is useful when there's imbalance in the energy immediately around someone's body. It can also be a next-best substitute for contact healing.

But I think I get a more visual sense of blockages when I work on people long-distance. Regarding results, being able to have a telephone connection with the recipient at the time of doing the distance healing work seems to help me to make adjustments in what I'm doing.

For me it is almost imposible to say which could potentially be more effective in a general sense.
The reason being is the very way Reiki Works. The Reiki Practitioner's Role is that of a channel, the main factor in the healing's effectiveness are the Recipients readiness to let go of blockages and imbalances in his or her sytem in a levels, that can only be described as holistic. One can give a person a 15 min distance session or an 1 1/2+ hr contact session, but unless the person is ready to change what is making them ill in ALL levels reiki will at the very most be relaxing.

For example one can give a cancer patient chemo and reiki for extended time, but if he continues to smoke 4 packs a day chances are some illness( cancer or otherwise) will be experienced again. This is true with every aspect of illness when it comes to Reiki, it is a Holistic form of healing, hence it has too many vairables to determine which method of application is best in all cases.

swarm,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- for myself as recipient??

- hands-on wins hands down!

- on the whole, I would say the same for when I am not recipient - putting my hands on wins again

- though some distance results have been very good as well
