1>If reiki is tapping into the divine energy, then why are there so many different kinds?

2>For those who beilieve it is universal energy, then why are there so many different energies?

3>If it is the same energy, why do the people who do it say that it is different?

I look upon that issue the same way I do with religions. Why so many different religions worshipping the same God.
The basic's of all Reiki practices is ULE.

aum
When I hear people talk about Hinduism, people ask why there are so many Gods. Millions of them. But really you can view these divine beings as a point of focus for your own intention or thought or feeling or devotion -- different manifestations of the same "energy". Maybe in different flavours of Reiki, they have varying exercises to help us focus our intent in a unique way.

Hi swarm,
These are my feelings only.....

There are lots of different kinds of reiki because individuals discover slightly different personal ways of invoking the energy - this leads to 'new' kinds, a following gets going hoping to get the same rsults and a new type of reiki is born. The truth is that it is the same energy and it is a far more personal thing than simply following others - we can each find our own 'best method' if we follow our hearts.
This feeling that the energy gives changes depending on the mental, emotional and spiritual (and physical) state as well as the love felt - that is the key.

"1>If reiki is tapping into the divine energy, then why are there so many different kinds?"

I like to think healing work is as individual as the being and we all evolve on our journey.

"2>For those who beilieve it is universal energy, then why are there so many different energies?"

All colors of the rainbow.

"3>If it is the same energy, why do the people who do it say that it is different?"

I can see where one might desire for it stay as Dr. Usui introduced it, but we're not even completely in agreement about that....his students evolved, too. I think he'd be very proud of where Reiki has gone and the waves that it's made. Why must it be the same?

swarm,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- 1. so many egos?? >:-}}

- 2. ULE, though a unitary essence is complex with many 'layers' or levels - we are not all sufficiently adept to access all the levels or even the same levels with equal adeptness

-- for myself? When working across more than one layer the way I sense the energy varies so it might seem to amount to different energies

- 3. To reiterate, ULE is a unitary complex which, as one practices and delves into the different layers, may 'feel' differently at the various gradient points among the layers

- it is practice, intent, and mindfulness that will improve one's chances of accessing more than the 'denser' layers of ULE

Enjoyed your words, firekeeper.

And if something so wondrous "came" to Dr. Usui, why could it not come to others in different ways, but ways that were meant for them? You've shared some of your energy work, swarm, and it sounds pretty wonderful to me.
