Namaste all,
I am curious...when I am Reiking someone I will often see pictures in my mind, sometimes like a slide show, sometimes like a film clip. On occassin, I will hear a message which is usually rather persistent, so I know that it is meant for that person. They dont necessarily make sense to me, but when moved to, I do share with the person what I have seen. I have had feedback that it does makes sense to them & sometimes they do not have a clue what it means. Ive never felt that it was important for me to understand but simply to pass it on. At first, I was reluctant to share. Then I had an experience when a RM was working on me & when I told him I felt that he had a message for me, he admitted that he had felt compelled to share something with me, but had held back because he wasnt sure of himself & it had passed & he could no longer recollect it. After seeing that happen to him again, I decided that even though sharing makes me feel foolish sometimes, I wouldnt want to miss an opportunity to help someone else. I would like to know if this happens to anyone else, how they handle it, etc.
peace, love & joy,
holobon

Hi Holobon,
Namaste
The picture/message happens for me all the time when doing reiki. Since I talk rarely during the session (it seems to mess up the concentration/focus) I 'tag' it to be passed on after the session, when we are looking at stuff.
I had one recently where I was working on a lady and kept seeing a small collie dog with distinct markings. When I later told her about it, she said it was a dog she had as a small child that protected her everywhere she went, since adults were seldom there. She had not thought of that dog in many years, but she recently had felt things 'closing in on her' and seems the dog was her affirmation that she was protected now.
Sometimes it is silly stuff, it seems silly to us. It may be that we are picking up nonsense...who can tell? But I have passed on many messages...who knows but that is something that will cause a bit of enlightenment for that person. Frankly, I am getting past the age where I think I must be dignified at all times, and must impress people. I think I would rather that they think I told them the 'strangest' things rather than I told them nothing that would 'help'.
Look for my picture in the dictionary next to the word
woo woo !! :o}}

I find that it works to say something at the outset and ask if the person desires such "information" be shared with them.
I also keep in mind that if I am drifting off astrally, some of what is "learned" may well be for me, not them. :-}}
- regardless of who it does or does not make sense to. :-}}
Yes, a number of times I had the experience where there were two streams of images at the same time - one was faces the other "places". A couple of times, also, there were streams of symbols.

Firekeeper and Priestess,
Her picture will go with all the rest of ours. And it is the 'regular' dictionary because we are all 'normal'.
You do know that snipe is listed before woo woo and also has several pictures. (my dictionary has an entire section of reciepes for snipe)
Just think all over the world today one of us will think of a snipe hunt and chuckle to our self and people around us will know where our pictures belong!
Lots of chuckles

Hi Carolyn,
namaste,
Actually, I kind of like the idea of Ripleys having a dictionary. :o}
Do you think Firekeepers' picture is in it next to the word shape-shifter? Would explain the cyote showing up time and again and scaring off the snipes.
Like they say, Any advertising at all is better than none!
Just depends on what you are trying to get across.

Louise,
Coyote doesn't scare off the snipes. They all just follow him around to all the cool dances he goes to. They also know that by the time they show up that the menu has changed and they are safe. Also, when all the women see how cute and cuddly they are they know they are safe. Besides who could actually eat someone that cute!
And just what are we trying to get across? And to whom? And actually why?
When is the next snipe party?
:))))))

Namaste Priestess,
I gave up the notion of being dignified, when I realized that the guy next to me at the red light was trying to figure out why I appeared to be saying the pledge of allegiance (hand over heart)..... I can imagine what they think about other positions...
Thanks for the feedback, Priestess!!

Firekeeper,
I think that is a very good suggestion, to ask at the beginning...
Any guidelines as how to differentiate what is for self & what is meant for the other person...or just instinct/"knowing"?

holobon,
/*\ Namaste.
My guidelines are roughly as follows - though not infallible - :-}}
- if specific issues are stated by the recipient at the outset or s\he asks for feedback then "information" that may become evident may well be for that person - or at least one can consider this.
- if a specific image or reference to the recipient occurs then go with that.
- if there are no specific requests, etc, then what occurs, if anything at an astral level, more likely relates to you.
- sometimes it is not clear to whom or what an event pertains so I tend to just keep it to myself - may be clarified later in which case one can say something if it is appropriate.
hope this helps,

Yes, Firekeeper,
It does make sense. Although I realize that what feels right to me is usually a good guide, my perception is not 100% accurate & I value your opinion & experience.

Hello all,
I don't get messages very often during Reiki. I've had someone share this with me that really makes sense to me. She calls it the 3 time rule. If something comes up, allow it to fall away. If it comes back in some way 2 more times without your prompting, then go ahead and share it when the client is up and around AFTER the Reiki. She suggests that a person can be really open because of the altered state of relaxation, so it is best to bring up anything when they are grounded.
I've also had someone share with me a vision they had when they were treating me. She said that she considered us to be more like friends than practitioner-client. Otherwise she would not have shared it, because "if you want visions, go to a visionary. If you want Reiki, go to a Reiki practitioner."
I don't know if I agree or disagree, but I think it's a really interesting point.
Some people may not be open to this kind of input on a conscious level, but are open to the Reiki. If they go to you, and get something other than Reiki that they are not comfortable with, they may not come back for the Reiki.
Nameste,
Joyce

Hi Joyce,
Good points...will have to think about them a bit.
I find it hard to seperate what I see during Reiki from the experience of Reiki, however. It startd with my level one attunement & has continued since...Perhaps I am blending two things unconsciously? It seems quite natural to me now.
I wouldnt want to dissuade anyone from taking Reiki, of course...

Namaste Holobon,
/*\ (to all of you)
I have had a few images, but I believe the images where more for me, so I did not share them. But I always have (and this is hard to say) a sort of message, always feelings that are not my own. I don't so much hear words as they just appear in my head, somewhere in there...and I always feel that I must say them. It feels like I mentallly lead the recipient by the hand, like a small child to a place of relaxation. As for the feelings, I get those in shapes, colors, and textures.
On one occasion, as soon as I took the first positions, I found that I had an uncontrolable urge to cry, and had to shut my eyes tight to hold back the tears. After I finished with that individual, I had a headache (which is a rarity for me) for approx. 20mins. I later that evening found out that this friend had just had an abortion(much to my surprise), and was hurting over it. She had thought that with this incident that I could read her thoughts, which I cannot.
I kind of like the idea of taking permission first before sharing more relevant messages...I think I would like the option to be given to me. You never know how much an individual can handle, or wants to...
Lots of L&L
Dina

Dear Dina,
I understand what you wrote about the messages. Once a thought popped into my head ( I say thought instead of message because I dont hear it, as you said,& I dont see it, its just there)& I ignored it & it kept coming back with more & more force each time until I shared it. It actually was booming in my head... It was a fellow practitioner who I feel a bond with & I did what I felt I was being instructed to do. Since the message was one of love & protection, I was comfortable doing so.
My personal feeling is that as individual practitioners of Reiki the essence of our beings allow us to experience Reiki in different ways. The energy is from the same source
but courses through different beings in different ways. Realizing that this is still all relatively new to me, I still feel "green"..but I also feel guided.
I am a very left brained individual & my usual response is to research & verify everything. So, the challenge has been to trust the source & allow myself to be guided. Sometimes that gidance comes through the voice & experience of others. Thank goodness for the Cafe & this opportunity to share!
peace, love & joy,
holobon
