Hello Everyone,
I am new to this board and to Reiki. I would like to find a practioner in my area urgently because my life is falling apart and I instinctively know that the energy Reiki releases will help me. I live in Plano, TX and would like to find someone around here.

Are you attuned in reiki at all?

If so, your self-healing work will help if you stick with it.

If you are not attuned, check with ReikiThreshold.com or Reikilinks.com or International Center for reiki Training or the Global Reiki Master's Association.

Any of these have Practitioner locator directories or may be able to suggest some people in your area (although Texas is a big area). :-}}

Thanks for your quick reply! Plano is in the Dallas, TX area. I emailed Lee this morning and I hope to recieve an answer soon. If not I'll call her. I am so eager(and a bit worried too!) to get attuned, it's unbelievable, I sincerely hope I won't be disappointed. Can I ask you a (silly) question? Is getting attuned and doing the Reiki 1, 2,3 levels the same thing? I mean if I wanted to have healing work done on me, is it the same as attending a Reiki level weekend or is on a session basis? I wonder if I am making any sense?????

Just wanted to welcome you and to reassure you that there is nothing to worry about in getting attuned. You will NOT be disappointed. Since you are responding to Tidesong, I will leave your questions alone, however, do know there aren't any silly questions...we all started at the beginning and Reiki takes time and patience.

Thanks so much. I feel like I'm trying so hard and nothing is coming my way! I guess the moment I decided NOW is the time for Reiki , I expected to find a RM and it's not happening. Dozens of phonecalls but not the "right" one...know what I mean? I guess it's like falling in love, you simply KNOW when it's the right one!
Please go ahead and answer my questions if you have the time,it's important to me.

Welcome to Reiki. I feel that you will find plenty of support, information and love here. Good luck with your journey.
I guess TX means Texas, so as a "Brit" I won't be much help geographically. However, where you are now is no doubt where many of us have been. Just ask your new found friends here and you will be delighted at the love you find!!

I understand your desire to get going with it, now that you have made the decision to go ahead. But, relax...now that you have decided, it will happen. Give it time for the Universe to catch up with your decision.
There are no such thing as silly questions. Getting attuned to Reiki involves instruction in the various levels of Reiki. Then your Reiki Master will pass the attunement to you which enables you to run the Reiki. Simply reading a book on Reiki, or learning hand positions will not (usually) give one the ability to share Reiki energy. Its one of the wonderful differences in Reiki from other modalities. Attunements are passed from Master to student. Classes teach one level at a time, although some do Reiki I and II over a weekend. Most advise time to pass between each level, especially between II and III-the Master Levels. Some Masters teach a IIIa and IIIb....ask your prospective Master/teacher their specific teaching form, and requirements.
A Reiki session, is different than a clases and an attunement. During a session, the client usually lays on a massage table while the practitioner works through different hand postitions to allow the energy to flow. It usually takes 1 to 1 1/2 hours for a full session.
