Hello everyone,
Once again I need your help in comprehending a few things on myself and Reiki. Thanks to your help I managed to find 2 lovely practitioners in my area. But now I am perplexed...which one should I go to? Oh I know you're thinking, follow your heart but its not tugging in any particular direction. One lady is just a RM, has been for 9 years. The other lady is a RM and a registered nurse, nutritionist, hypnotherapist and certified massage therapist too. She has 20 yrs of experience and lives 2 minutes from me. The other person is very lovely and when she heard my husband is in between jobs immediatly lowered her fees and simply said she understood.
My other question is this, right now I do not feel strong enough to do the different levels, I only want sessions to allow me to get in contact with my inner self which has been "frozen" for as long as I can remember. However there are occasions when I do hear my soul sing so I know I still have one. I have tons of physical ailments which acording to traditional medicine depend on a variety of factors last but not the least stress. But according to alternative practioners, ie homeopaths, an osteopath, an accupuncturist my energy is blocked and stagnant and I am holding the key to it. In fact none of these alternative therapies have ever really worked I think because of my subconcious lack of collaboration and armouring.
SO, the essence of my question is What makes me so sure that Reiki will reach where everything else has failed to? I am afraid of being disappointed but I would also like to know how I can prepare myself to be open and receptive and strong?
I welcome all suggestions and advice because I truly feel I am close to finding my "mothership" so to say!
Thank you all for listening,

Since you asked, here is my opinion.
Go for some treatments first. Try each Teacher. See how they and the treatments sit with you.
Then maybe inquire about doing your reiki 1.
Not every Teacher will automatically take anyone who comes to be taught and attuned.

I do not favor taking more than one "level" at a time.

Firekeeper,
I am afraid to begin my sessions. I am afraid that my armour will fall off and I will be exposed and then what??
I think I have grown accustomed to being ill all the time. I have noticed that my illness get bigger and more important each time I take a step forward.
Will I be left exposed and vulnerable after my Reiki sessions? Do I need to be attuned to Level I? How will this help me?
Thanks,
jj2

hello jj2
namaste,
The first step of the journey is the hardest. Once you have done that the others are a piece of cake!
If you can't make up your mind which teacher, and you like them both, flip a coin. Actually it doesn't matter. Not making a choice is also choosing, you know. It keeps you in the same place.
Remember this: as long as you are getting something important from being sick, you won't want to heal. So ask yourself what you are getting? Attention, love, sympathy?
Are they more important than doing all the things that you have been avoiding, and making decisions like a well person.
Reiki can't take away your armor unless you allow it, and let's all hope that you allow the armor to go. It is heavy, cold and unyielding. Won't life be better without it? It is scarry at first, then you will get to enjoy it!
Trust me.
Blessings to you and yours, Priestess

I am sorry this seems so frightening. A man once said: all we have to fear is fear itself. - or something like that.
Truer words are hard to come by.
Yet, if one is not willing to get well, then it will not happen.
Your armour may be part of what prevents your wellness.
Proper reiki training will involve hands-on reiki practices before your attunement. These practices will give you a chance to receive reiki as well as be the practitioner.
An experienced Teacher is not going to just dump an attunement on you - at least I hope not.
:-}}
A Teacher once suggested that "healing" takes a little courage - sometimes a good deal of courage.
Take a hot tub soak with a cup of sea salt added and meditiate a little while you are in the tub. Cool rinse aftewards. :-}}
Perhaps you will consider some distance reiki for a while before you make your decision.
Hope this helps,
Reiki all around,
all blessings,
Firekeeper

Dear jj2
I think you have to explore what it is you are afraid of...getting well? In all kindness, all you will be exposed to is your inner self and what is so bad about having your armor fall off? You will find a most fastinating and intresting person coming into themselves, awakening to the knowledge of what it feels like to feel better and better with each day.
If your inner needs are being met by being ill all the time, you are not going to heal. Ask yourself, what is it about being ill...is it the fear of feeling better? Greater expectations are on the "well" person. Are you afraid being well will put too much responsibility on you? Ask yourself, am I hanging onto my armour, or is it hanging on to me.
If I were you, I would have a few Reiki sessions and see how it is for you. Notice how you are coming into peace with yourself. Notice if you are allowing the armor to dissipate....it will not overwhelm you, it will not be a rapid transformation. You do not need to be attuned to level one to get the benifit of Reiki from a healer. Be paitent and see how it is for you. You are and will be in control of the whole experience.
Love and wishes for good healing......jasanine

Namaste jj2,
I am sorry to hear of your health, and your struggle...only for the weight of it, but not for what it can bring you. This is a tool, your armor/illness/ etc. and it has served well for some time now. But perhaps you are out growing it and need to move on. It has been suggested to me to bless and release what I wish to let go of...perhaps near a body of water like a lake, etc.
I feel that you have started in a direction that you will not be satisfied with turning away from it at this point. I are/have become aware/congnizant of the significance of your tool(s) ie your health. Now that you know there is more, how will you turn away from it...
My own opinion is that you were introduced to Reiki when you were ready for it. Taking level I is not in place of you doing the work. If you have decided to do your own work, it will be of a tremendous help...especially knowing that you are not alone on your journey. You have unconditional support.
All the best to you in whatever you choose,
Dina
