Everyone talks about how warm their hands become when they are giving a Reiki Treatment. My hands hardley ever feel warm to me although those recieving the treatment feel the energys warmth. Sometimes my hands sense a throbing or a tingling feeling. Other times it is just intuition that tells me to move on. My Reiki Master tells me to just keep listening to my hands (??) I find that I am doubting myself and wondering if I am staying in one position long enough or perhaps too long.
I do have a good sense of problem areas through scanning. I feel warm spots easily projected off somone elses body.
When I do self Reiki I believe I am listening to myself as a receiver rather than the giver.
I would appreciate others sharing how you know it is time to move on. Any thoughts on how to listen to my hands :-)
Blessings to all
Reiki Lady

Ok, crazy story time....
Once upon a time a while ago when I first started healing I had this guide that was a bird. I loved the bird it was cool and we were happy. I did a healing once and I forgot to clear the space I was working in and I didn't protect it. I was doing the healing and this intense energy was happening in this certain part of the body (I don't remember which) I was there for a while and then I thought, well maybe it won't stop and I should just move on...Then I heard this voice that said "You'll move when I tell you to move if you are going to work with me!" and then I saw this vision of this medicine cheif. He said his name was Black Elkhorn. What ever! I bounced him out of there so fast! He was way rude. Anyway, the point being my other guide I guess I fired because he forgot to tell me I forgot to clear the room and I got this other guide, but he seemed mean to me and so I learned the medicine wheel my teacher taught me...I am totally rambling...OK long story longer...
Sometimes you know, sometimes you don't. Sometimes guides tell you, sometimes they don't. Eventually you just know. It seems like your hands move by themselves, Until that time look for signs like, Did they just move? Do they seem uncomfortable. Do you feel a shift in intesity? All of these things can be clues until autopiolet kicks in.
Here some surefooted love coming your way.

Hello Reiki Lady,
Just to let you know that you're not alone...I too find it hard to 'see' through my hands.
I try and go by the pulsing in my hands, when it eases I move on to the next area. However sometimes, If I don't sense any pulsing, then I go my intuition and feeling of when to move on.
Hope this helps a little....I think the more experience that we get, the easier it will get :)
Love and Light
Helen.

Reikilady,
Sat Nam.
In general, when Reiki is on the menu and the person is accepting the Reiki, the hot spots are those which are drawing the Reiki. Work there a while (5 minutes is good start) till the warmth decreases. One can always return to a particular spot at the end of a treatment regimen if a 'hot spot' does not slow down in the first pass.
Remember too, Reiki is more than just 'Fire' - the heat one feels.
In some cases where one should expect a 'hot' or 'active' area (chakra work) and the area is 'cold', then that chakra may be abnormally quiet and require work.
Hope this helps,
Reiki all around,
All Blessings,
Firekeeper

Reiki blessings, Reiki Lady,
'Step back'! When I began experiencing just those self-same niggling doubts, my guides came thundering and told me to step back (a real biggy for me as I am a bit of a control freak and worry-gut:-)! )
You are doing everything RIGHT. You say scanning helps you, so whenever you feel 'disconnected' try doing another scan and go to where ever you feel the need. Intuition is one of the most important aspects of reiki because your hands are simply the end-tools of your intuition.
To begin with, the 3-5 minute rule is a good one, but like everything, once you know the rules, inside-out, then you can strech them or readjust them. Go for it, Reiki Lady, you and your reiki are a beautiful gift in your world.
May the laughter of love and joy always surround you. jonjo

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement. Your posts have pointed to one thing that (shame on me)I have neglected to do. I meditate every day and work with my spirit guides however I have never developed a concious relationship with my Reiki Guide. This is a new road for me and sometimes the obvious is ignored because it's just too easy :-)
Again, many thanks for your thoughts and guidance.
Blessings,
Reiki Lady

Thanks for your post! Very interesting!
My favorite is when my hands feel like they're burning up, but the healee comments on how soft or cool or whatever other descriptor other than hot! I'll have pink cheeks and sweat rolling down my back, but they felt it as something else.
My Mom even described it as snowflakes falling gently on her shoulders.
I think our bodies think "hmmm... this is neat, but what is it exactly? I know! hot! yeah, that's the ticket! lava flow - whoo hoo!" So each body has it's own unique way of interpreting what's happening... mine just happens to be hot lava, others have other interepretations. Just remember that hot doesn't mean better - just one way of perceiving. I love the expression of "listening to our Reiki hands" - be still and listen to your body, to the energy, to the Reiki flowing - you'll be amazed at what you learn.
Best wishes and have fun with it. :)
Eve
