Battle between the brain and the soul

Namaste All,

I have been wondering why the human brain and soul often seem to be at odds with one another.

It seems to me that our soul is pure love and intention and 'knows' what's best for us. The brain however seems to question the soul and almost put obstacles in the way of our development. I wonder why this is...is this one of our lessons for our soul to experience... to endure the human brain and all it's possibilities and frailties. Kind of like trying to tame a wild horse at times :))

It seems too that life might have gotten more complicated as the human brain seems to have evolved to what it is today. What in the beginning must have been purely thinking and working out how to survive, has become something altogether more complicated. In a sense this means to me, that our spirituality is getting 'crowded' out and replaced by a whole lot of other things. It is necessary to still our mind with meditation and then our spirit comes soaring through.

As I'm now beginning to ramble :)) I'll ask if any one else has any thoughts on this?.

Love and Light
Helen

Helen,

Our 'brain' or 'personality' or 'ego', are all part of the learning process in a path to our soul, or the healing of that part of the soul which our bodies encompass. It is the part of the soul that has chosen to 'heal'. When we get past the point of listening only to the brain, and ask our soul what it needs to heal, the message becomes altogether different. A point of actual growth comes when the brain and the soul are working together for complete healing. When they actually become focused on the reason for being on this earth, and blend......well. ...... That is the place that we truly want to be.

When we truly stop our decision making process that is going on only with the personality/brain/ego. Ask "what will make me truly happy-long term"?. The answer(s) become more apparent. Immediate gratification may not be the highest answer, or it might, depending on the choices..........and the intent... Love and Light......Priestess

Namaste, Helen.

Do you think one of the reasons life seems so complicated today is because the majority of the human race - in Western Society in particular - has lost touch with the natural rhythym of life generally? You have it in one, when you say "...our spiritually is getting crowded out..." L&L jonjo

I am really just writing here because I saw that this is where all of my beautiful sisters are writing and I wanted to be one of the crowd....;)
Have you ever read A Course in Miracles ?
That book rocks the world and talks alot about insanity. The fact that so many of us have these ideas that we think are perfectly sane, but they are killing us body and spirit. Poisoning our waters and our food sources. Not looking at life through the eyes of unconditional love. It goes on to say so much much that I can't remember, but if you haven't already check it out! An easier book to read regarding the same subject is A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson.
Love you all,
Joanna

Hi Priestess,

Many thanks for your reply.

I guess the hardest part, for me anyway, is actually hearing what the soul has to say, instead of just listening to the jumble of thoughts in the brain.

Helen.

Hi Jonjo,

Namaste.

Yes, I think we are so busy trying to keep up with the rat race, that we never have time to be still and go back to the basics. I don't think that it's any coincidence that people go to church far less now, than 100 years ago. I don't think that people are any happier though for all the mod cons and extra money etc. Kind of ironic really, that all the modern inventions that we have today, to make our lives easier and yet we still seem to have less time and not more for the things that really matter in life.

I wonder if the penny will ever drop and things might regress a little :)

Hi Joanna,

I haven't read this book yet, but I have heard wonderful things about it, so it's definately on my list. Thanks for recommending it.

I'm currently reading 'healing Hands' by Barbara Brennan and enjoying it :)

Helen,

For your next book, try "Seat of the Soul" by Gary Zukav.

It is an easy read for a deep book, and contains a lot of truth. I am almost thru with it and plan to read it for a second time, before I put it down. I think this is going to stay around for a reference book. This author is AWARE!

Barbara Brennon rocks the universe. Have you also read Hands of Light? Another must read.
Lots of love,
