Experimenting with new hand placements

In my long hiatus, I have been experimenting with a new hand placement order during reiki treatments and have been getting amazing results. The process came about because of my Master Herbalist training. The instructor has been going over internal organ cleansing. I incorporated that philosophy into reiki treatments. Here are the details:

1. Our body's natural physical cleansing process is from the bottom up. First, we cleanse the colon, then kidneys, blood, liver, lungs & lastly upper respiratory.

2. I wondered how it would work energetically if I reversed the traditional hand positions

3. So, I started at the feet, worked up to the knees, root, navel, solar plexus, heart, throat, 3rd eye, crown.

4. Also, I stopped at each position and did a miniature "reiki sweep" down the body from the last point treated down until I eventually did a full sweep from head to feet at the end.

5. This process takes a little longer than traditional treatments -- about 75 to 90 minutes, but the results are well worth it.

To date, I have seen....
~ debilitating arthritis symptoms completely disappear with only a single treatment
~ asbestos poisoning of the lungs completely clear in 4 treatments
~ several dramatic emotional clearings for stress, depression, anxiety, etc. that have not required subsequent re-treatment

...all without the use of any healing modality EXCEPT reiki! :-)

I shared the process with some of my students, all of whom are also seeing dramatic results. If you'd like to give it a try, I'd love to hear back from you on your experience with the "reverse" process.

Blessings to all,

Herbmom

Herbmom,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- interesting

- thanks.

- many traditional Kundalini and pranic practices begin at Chakra one and work to the Crown

>:-}}

- no reason to think the application of other energy techniques would not be effective this way also

- glad to see practitioners asking questions -

>:-}}

- there are, of course, clearing techniques and energy practices that do best starting at the upper chakras - as some energy pathways are more naturally top to bottom, so to speak

- take care,

Reiki all around,

Dear Herbmom,

I've wondered about this myself. I.E. chakra work typically starts at the bottom; can I incorporate Reiki to chakra visualization exercises instead of the othe way around.

Keep up the great work.

My reiki training included a great deal of additional training in chakra work, so I incorporate the two most of the time. I find that the two modalities work well together. It is very common for me to work with clients who are familiar with the chakras. I ask them to visualize the chakra that I am working near as a tool to determine the health of the chakra. I also use a pendulum quite a bit, too.

However, in my reiki classes, I am careful to distinguish between what is Reiki and what are "add-ons". I don't even get into the "add-ons" until Reiki II to avoid confusion.

Herbmon,

Your results are wonderful!

Recently I received a complete Reiki session from the bottom up and ended up with a headache. No sweeping was done. Could you explain the sweeping in a little more detail. Do you "dispose" of negative energy collected in the sweep?

Interesting. I will try that. I have experimented with making a big loop around the body, working down the right side and back up the left, with some interesting results. Thanks for sharing. I will try to remember to let you know how this goes.

Namaste Pam,

Sometimes (well, very often, in my experience!) negative energies are shifted outward from the physical body into the bioelectric field (aura, if you will). By "sweeping the aura", you can move the energies out of the personal energy field.

Specifics of the "sweeping":

~ When I treat the feet, I use a guided visualization that I modified from the Reiki I meditation from "Reiki: A Torch in Daylight" by Karyn Mitchell to encourage the client to become "grounded". By treating the chakras at the sole first, it helps the client become grounded and provides a downward conduit for negative energies. When finished, I "sweep" the feet (light, downward stroking motions an inch or so above the body).

~ Then I move up to the knees, which I treat either individually or the tops of both and then the bottoms of both (whatever feels right to me). Again, I "sweep" downward from the knees to the feet (each leg separately)

~ Up I go, through each chakra, repeating the same process with each one.

~ If they are a healer, I make sure to include the hand chakras, too.

~ Depending on if the "spirit moves", I may also do a reverse sweep (always toward the heart, like massage strokes, only in the energy field) with the intent of sweep "in" to the energy field positive energies. Sometimes the client intuitively starts this process during the healing without my conscious movements...sort of an "out with the old, in with the new" action.

~ I do a lot of work with angels & guides, so each treatment is unique, but these are the basics. So much of what I do anymore is intuitive.

~ I always make sure to smudge the room with sage afterward and I do a periodic room clearing as well to completely clear out any negative energy that might be floating around. Most of the time it just dissipates on its own once it's release from the person's aura.

~ The important thing to remember is that "dislodging" the negative energy is more the work of the person receiving reiki than it is any one technique. You can move it out all you want, but if the person is really "attached" to it, it will only come back later. I attribute most of the successes I have seen to my clients' willingness to look at all aspects of their dis-ease and take responsibility for their own health. The techniques I use only facilitate what is naturally occuring on a physical level to occur at the spiritual level.

No amount of reiki (or anything else, for that matter) can replace a person's willpower--conscious or otherwise. Some people just need their dis-ease more than others.

Go with God on angel's wings!

Hello:

I had my first "out of class room hands on Reiki treatment" yesterday from a friend the universe recently sent me (one of those synchronicity things). She started at the feet and worked her way up too. She had taken some other healing classes and also found that it seemed to work better. I am not sure what it is she took in addition to Reiki but I can find out if your interested. I found it kinda refreshing but can't say the effects were as permanent as your results. Felt really good for the day but woke up about the same today.

Namaste,

Chris

Dear Herbmom,

Thanks for the chakra-reiki input. I have a very similar "take" on Reiki in this reguard and appreciate hearing your field notes. (as well as others who may have a different take)

Namaste,
Michael

p.s. your point about add-ons struck a timely cord for me.

Thank you for sharing! These hints go in my "Reiki Prescriptions" file. And I'll share with local Reiki friends.

Gracias,

I have used this process also. Mrs. Takata said she uses this where there is arthritis.

How interesting. I'll have to give that a try. I personally have been experimenting with using no hand positions at all.
I had read that the hand positions orignated with Dr. Hayashi after Usui's death, who being a former naval general, felt a need for more order to the practice of Reiki. So he created the hand positions as a teaching tool for new students to learn the chakra locations.
I usually work by just layin my hands on myself and letting the energy flow of it's own accord using the symbols as i feel neccessary which seem to flow right to where they are needed.
