DNA and Reiki

Just reading a terrific book called "The Cosmic Serpent" by Jeremy Narby.

It attempts to unite the induced hallucinations of Amazonian shamen with the findings of Western science.
Central to the theme is the marrying of the vision of the "coiled serpent", a much repeated vision throughout various indigenous mythologies, with the scientific discovery of the double helix of DNA.

Interesting stuff - particularly in light of the revelation that DNA emits light. And not just any old light, but "coherent" light, as in laser light.

So, every living cell emits this light. And according to some sources "ill" or "dis-eased" cells emit light at different frequencies (and sometimes not at all).

In his book "In Search of The Wild Pendulum" Itzach Bentov provides a truly mind-expanding view of the universe, and included in this wonderful journey is the knowledge that systems tend towards balance. For example, if you were to hang a dozen or more pendulum clocks in a room and then start them at random, sooner rather than later they would be oscillating in unison. In other words, systems tend to favour balance.

Is this how Reiki works? Could it be that the light pulses from our cells attempt to "re-tune" the "disparate" light from "the ill patient"?

Sorry for the mis-information, but the book by Itzach Bentov was called "Stalking The Wild Pendulum".

Namaste :)

An interesting thought, Bigbang.

I have always thought, if someone cared to check into it, that Reiki is probably a form of electromagnetic energy-I don't see how something scientific and spiritual has to be mutually exclusive.

If DNA emits light, perhaps it radiates at a frequency similar to Reiki energy. In which case, I would think your theory would probably be true.

Blessings,
Roxy

BigBang,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- the last sentence?? one wonders then a bit about self-reiki

- how is it then we can "re-tune" ourselves??

>:-}}

- sounds a bit like archetypal self-reliance

>:-}}

- also, have you got a reference for the research on cells emiting coherent light??

thanks for the interesting post

BigBang,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- a bit of quick perusal of relevant literature (by proponents and other somewhat more dispassionate observers) suggests that the mechanism of biophotons is not known or understood, that there may be as little as one photon per cell per second produced (this timing factor being suggested as "coherence")

- basically what I have read so far suggests a lot of speculation when one steps anywhere beyond the liklihood that some sort of biochemically produced "light" exisits

- it seems too that the typical response to extrapolate these nano-science findings to the larger scale without consideration of what such extraploation means or entails has already occurred - theoretical math formulas to predict photon occurrence, etc notwithstanding

>:-}}

- I mean, I saw a website selling Biophoton Wands

>:-}}

- hope this helps

The book "The Field" by Lynne McTaggart looks at the various types of research done in this area. One part I found expecially interesting dealt with a scientist who was studying the light we all emit and his discovery that while terminal cancer patients looked as if their light was going out, MS patients looked as if they were literally drowning in light.

Much of what was written in the book really gave me some new things to think about with regard to what Reiki is and how it works. I recommend reading the book as I hestate to relay the information as I would hate to not explain it clearly or correctly.
