Namaste All.

I have been thinking about our dreams and what they mean. Some are symbolic and in others we seem to travel out of our bodies, what I have been wondering is, are the people that we meet in our dreams also out of body and we are meeting on different planes so to speak. Is this theoretically possible, or do our dreams just involve us?

Hope you know what I mean, I can't really explain it very well :)))

Out of body can occur during certain sleep states.

Dreaming also.

They are quite distinct though we may not always be able to be sure of that distiction.

Dreams have different levels - Level one is almost always stuff that is symbolic to us or related to the immmediate past.

Level two may relate to our deeper unconscious (symbolic), the collective unconscious (symbolic), and\or to the immediate future and past.

It is possible to have premonitions or actual seeing of future events in level 2.

Level three is usually the Collective Unconscious and the larger future. There may well be travel even to one's own past lives though this is a rare and very special occurrence and very tricky to be sure about.

A past life reading might confirm such a dream occurrence - or might not.

If you take an out of body journey and meet someone else travelling you are likely to remember - especially if you take the journey "willfully" and not during sleep.

Shamanic journey is willful travel.

I think it is possible to meet others while astral travelling. (Unlike Firekeeper I have no deep shamanic knowledge so can't state a certainty on this one.)
I also know from personal experience you can astral travel during wakefulness.
As for dreams, there are many examples of people dreaming of future occurances and sometimes being able to prevent disasters.

How do you work out whether something is symbolic or real? Think I might take up sleepwalking instead :)))

So if, for instance, I had a dream about my nan after she died....did I actually meet her or was it her way of letting me know that she was okay?

I find it confusing trying to differentiate between symbolism and 'reality'in dreams :))

Relax and try not to try so hard to work out whether it is symbolic or otherwise, then it will all probably start to fall into place:0)

I think in order for you to know if your dream is really with another person or if it is symbolic you have to ask yourself. You are a really on-it kind of woman. You have very good insight and know what is what. When you have a question about it. Go into your heart and ask yourself. What was that all about? Write it out on paper so you can see it. These are all things you can do to remember that you have the answers within you always.
It is possible to go into other peoples dreams and they into yours. I have done it. I asked the person the next day if he remembered the dream with me in it and he said yes and went on to describe it in more details than even I remember. Symbol dreams happen too, you just have to go within and ask yourself how it felt. Your feelings are usually the best indicator.

What a good idea about the dream! I had heard others say someone projected into their dream, but had not thought it was that easy.

I think that sometimes I know in my heart when something is real, like the dream with my nan, I am convinced that she came to me to let me know that she was happy and still there in Spirit :)

Other dreams can be harder to interpret, but I guess it's all about listening to that inner voice :)

That's cause I am a rock and roll deva. All you need is a cool outfit. Let's go shopping and we'll get you some Britney Spears clothing, you'll fit right in ;)

It is actually pretty easy, but like I was told by someone the other day it is not a good idea unless you have. Just use discresion like everything else.

I am alright, I am gearing up for my trip to Ireland. Pretty soon now. What a detour! I will either leave at the begining or end of next month. Hopfuly sooner rather than later, this place makes me tired.

That's the cool thing about learning about dimensions. The more you go in and out of them you realize that they are all interconnected, after all we are meeting on this dimension aren't we? This is just one of many. I would love to one day have a group that does alot of dream work together. A group of friends of mine in California are doing it with some Toltec shaman. Oh yeah, Carlos Castnada talks about how to to it in some of his books.
I am not in the space do it right now, but someday when I am done traveling....
