Hello!
I'm a student at Preston Uni. studying alternative medicine and at the moment,we are doing a project on Reiki.
My question is...to anyone who will listen (!) what are the benefits of using Reiki as an alternative to western "style" sedation on elderly patients (ie. diazapan).
Also I would like to know the views on how Reiki can help patients suffering from dementia.

jp,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
Reiki can help in many ways - whether the results will be as specific as you want is not certain - reiki can be calming - it can also be energizing -
Permission from the recipient is important - if a potential recipient is too demented to make the decision, a family member's permission will do.
- usually the need of the recipient will dictate how the energy is used - but recipients may not always use the energy in the same way as the practitioner intends - that is the recipient's perogative :-}} so to speak.
Will reiki replace medications in agitated patients? In most cases I doubt it - but regular sessions could reduce the amount of medications needed - or at least reduce the frequency of agitation.
Hope this is of some help.
Reiki all around,
all blessings,
Firekeeper
