Dear asthadhadda,
It is helpful before you Reiki someone to establish in your mind that you will NOT allow any negativity to attach to you. This is especially important when Reiking someone you have a stong emotional attachment to -it may be harder to be objective & let Reiki flow where it needs to. Sometimes we unconsciously try to "help" Reiki along.... as soon as we start using our own energy we open ourselves up
to taking on the negativity. Remember that Reiki flows thru you to where it is needed, trust in it, but always take the time to protect yourself.
Ground yourself well..using the visualization of the strong oak tree with roots deep into Mother Earth is my favorite.
See yourself surrounded by white light...a pulsing circle of white light protecting you from negativity.
If at any time you take on the symptoms or negativity, stop & shake it off immediately & reground yourself before beginning again.
I suggest a pray before beginning as well, asking for assistance from God & the angels, in accordance with your own spiritual beliefs.

Astha,
namaste,
When you have finished working on someone, use the 'dry bathing' technique and/or rinse your hands and arms in cool water. This will help get rid of anything that you may have 'picked up' Also, if you are attached to the outcome of the session, you are attached to the person.

astha,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
Welcome to The Cafe. :-}}
I am glad for your voice and light.
Keep your Intent and Mindfulness foremost - your reiki practice is best when you do not involve your own energies -to do so may lead to fatique or vulnerability to "unwanted energies" associated with the person and issues being dealt with.
Hope this helps,
Reiki all around,
all blessings,
Firekeeper
