Distant vs Hands on

Namaste All.

I have been wondering to myself, whether distant Reiki is as effective as hands on Reiki?, or whether if possible it is preferable to use hands on as opposed to distant?

I have this real confidence problem with distant Reiki, that I never seem to know whether or not it is working. I am very clear to set the intent and I try really hard to be mindful. I get pulsing etc, but last night during the night my baby started crying, as I had already been in to her a short while before and knew that there was nothing wrong, I decided to send her some distant Reiki as hands on always relaxes her and helps her get to sleep. Initially, she calmed down, then after about two minutes she was crying again, so I really began to doubt whether in my case distance is as effective, as hands on. That said, I have had one occasion, where I sent Reiki at an agreed time to a child after an operation and his mum told me that he immediately calmed and went to sleep at the exact time that I was sending the Reiki....so, I'm confused :))

Also, is there any particular order that I should do the symbols ? I tend to use all three, in the order that I learnt them.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Love,Light and Blessings
Helen.

Helen,

Sometimes a baby just 'needs' mommy. Doesn't mean the reiki does not work. The other baby that you mentioned, had his 'mommy' right there. You were trying to use reiki as a substitute because you were tired. Different intentions.

Helen,
I just want to say that I was feeling really cruddy a while back and I asked for help and a certain someone we know sent me such a wonderful healing, it was as hard core as if she was in the same room as me. I have given an attunment from California to Chicago to my cousin and she said she saw and felt me. I think it does work, it just takes serious intension and focus, and it's hard to do that when you are tired. Keep working at it. You are doing great!
Much love,
Joanna

Namaste Helen,

Not good at putting myself over very tactfully, I know you know that:)) but...do you believe in your distant attunements??????? Do you doubt that they work????? NO OF COURSE NOT:))))) Then why do you doubt the power of your distant healing??

I agree with priestess, you had a conflict of intentions going there - that's all.

You are a very special lady with such a caring nature we can all see it, time for you st start believing in yourself:)) reiki blessings jonjo

Priestess,

Namaste.

Many thanks, you've just made me realise that my intent was more about my own sleep needs than about sending Reiki because my baby really needed it.

I think I may have just learnt a rather important lesson about intent here :)

Hi Joanna,

Namaste.

I hope you're feeling better now :)

Many thanks for your encouragement, my intent was for the wrong reason, I was sending because I was tired and wanted her to go back to sleep, which in retrospect was for completely the wrong reason....no wonder it didn't seem to work.

I have learnt a valuable lesson about the importance of intent :))

Jonjo,

Namaste.

:)))

I appreciate your honesty. Yes, in my heart I know that it works, guess I'm just a bit of a doubting Thomas at times :))

My intent was all wrong, I was sending the Reiki for the wrong reasons and I can see that now....that's what I love about these boards, there are so many wonderful people to gently guide you in the right direction :)

Thanks too for your kind words, they are much appreciated :)

Namaste ji, Helen.

Although I understand that your MOTIVE in sending it remotely may not have been the "purest", I believe that if Reiki was all that was needed, then your *intent* would have done very well indeed.

You *intended* to send Reiki energy to your baby, and I'm sure that's exactly what you did. Unfortunately, as it was not Reiki that baby was crying for, but the loving touch of mommy, it didn't *work* (in the way you'd HOPED that it would).

You see what I'm trying to say here? The issue is not that the Reiki didn't *work* because of some perceived impurity of *intent* (actually, motive) on your part, but because it was simply not what was being called for. (That's probably why it seemed to pacify her for such a short time; she was probably really into soaking it up until realizing that she was being "snowed", then set out to wailing again! As in, "Wait a minute--this is all well and good, but where the heck's MA?!")

Regardless of the MOTIVE, I'm sure your *intent* was just fine. And just because it didn't *work* is no reason to take on any sense of guilt or shame for having tried it. (Who knows, maybe NEXT time she cries like that, Reiki alone MAY be enough, and the distant will work just fine!)

Just a little shift in perspective.

Continued Blessings On Our Way...
Kosh

PS This is my second reply. The original was much more smooth & coherent than the above. Unfortunately, I was posting it directly to the board and got knocked off line just as I was about to post, so lost it. Second attempts to recreate something that was already as well-written as you might have hoped for are NEVER as good as the original. Alas, this one lost much in the recreation, but I hope the point is still well taken.
