To whom it may concern,
Tonight is my first introduction to the word Reiki,although without knowing what it was called i have been doing it for 10 years now.My wife is the major reciepient of energy and has had many pleasent and healthful experiences from my"power".since i was much younger i am 40 now, everyone has said im different.i do not mean in a weird way like a nurd or whatever,but they sense a power and a few of my closest friends have seen my ora and have said things like, "you are beautiful" which is kinda weird coming from a 18 year old male when i was an 18 year old male also.i have been refered to as an Angel by my family members,although i would prefer not to go into religon in particular since i had my nose broken and my front teeth knocked out in church when i was much younger.i often have wondered why people say and do these things and have no fear of me saying "that is stupid" or "dude your freaking me out".i must say since reading several websites tonight on this subject and finding this messege board i am wondering if it is possible i am holding knowledge from a previous life and channeling it even today almost unknowingly.any comment on this would be very interesting to me even if you choose to scoff.just for the record this name i am using is the name i have used on the internet for 7 years now.

Masterflash,
welcome to the cafe. Regular or decaf?
We all know that there are natural healers in our midst. It more than likely is a talent you brought with you from other lifetimes, as you suspect.
My own understanding of reiki and natural healing is that there is a difference. I have met a couple of natural healers in the past, and they do/did have lovely energy. I believe the difference is the energy we use. I felt that the hands on was more about using their own energy, and reiki is about channeling universal energy, not our own. As in your statement that it is your 'power'. If you read some of the other threads here regarding that, it may be more clear.
Reiki is also not about religion. It is about spirituality. We each find our own place with that. :o}
Blessings, Priestess

Hi again,
I'll have the Tea thx.oolong plz.....
I would never be so bold as to say i do anything on my own in reagard to where the energy comes from,and i guess the important thing is not whos energy or where it comes from but that it comes and has a value to us all.i'm kinda intersted in this altought im completely uninformed.let me tell you how i go about doing what i do and you tell me how goofy i am.
here goes,
i have a white linen on the floor and a rounded pillow on the linen.my wife and i are close so she is naked when i give here her "treatment".i have insence and candles i use for this usually very light scents nothing heavy,i ask her to clear her mind and go to her pre arranged special place in her mind,and clear her thoughts,then i simply "touch" her in certain areas that are completely unsexual and something starts to happen.at times my hands have become cramped from doing this and i find then i need to use plain water on them to relieve this.she has said to me afterwards that she has felt sick to her stomach and i have her take a moist towel and place it on her forhead and or stomach which always relieves that problem.also afterward i have her eat a light snack and drink a cup of tea.it may take a couple days sometimes but we both notice a difference in her energy level and mental well being,although sometimes it is quicker then that.this is probably not your normal way of doing things but i have done this for ten years or more with a great deal of very positive results

That you posted about past lives and Reiki suggests that you are not an absolute "disbeliever" in reincarnation.

I have trouble with the notion that some people have past lives and some don't (because they believe they do - or don't).
Oh well.

Hello,
I agree that it would be silly to think you have or have not done something simply becuase you think you did or didnt
i guess i would say thought without action and action without thought is silly also.i dont really know a whole lot about what karma is but i basically live by the golden rule and i guess if you can do that it covers alot of ground in alot of areas.

Masterfalsh,
/*\ Namaste :-}}
I suppose that anyone who lives very well by the Golden Rule will accummulate much fine Karma and get off the Wheel of the Cycle of Death and Rebirth after a minimum number of Lives.
- Compassionate Action also "goes around well".

hello,
Compassion it would seem in alot of peoples daily lives is becoming less and less a daily routine and more like something people used to have along time ago.it has been my exprience that there are some who would even say im glad its them and not me.that seems like a very unfriedly statement to me and one i would never use directed at anyone.its kinda like adding fuel to an already blazing bon fire,someone ones soul and spirit are in pain and there neighbor se boy im sure glad its you bro.im sure that does not create a kinship for anyone invloved and after all arent we all KIN or brothers and sisters?

Hiya Firekeeper:
Some believe that accumulation of ANY karma will only keep the Wheel of Life and Death turning, as all karma, "good" or "bad" must be expiated--in this life or, more likely, in another. The goal, they say, is to get to a mindplace that produces no new karma of any kind. Your thoughts?

Hi Masterflash:
I believe it was Voltaire who said something to the effect that 'it is no more absurd to believe we are born more than once than to believe we are born only once'. Regardless, all we really have is this moment, this life, this 'now'.
And I think it was Gotama Buddha who indicated that looking at your present circumstances would give you a hint of your past lives and that looking at how you live in this life would give you a hint of how your future lives would be. In other words, your past karma is being played out in your present life and the karma you are creating now will affect your future lives. Interesting. We are our own judge, jury and ..ahem...executioner, so to speak.
Glad you found this board and Reiki. Karma, perhaps? No doubt! lol
