What info needed for distance healing?

Hello,

When doing a distance healing session with someone that you don't know or have never met, HOW MUCH and WHAT information would you say you need to be able to "connect" with them to do the distance healing? I have done many distance healing sessions but they were all with people that I know personally or have met. So I use the intention with their name and picturing them in my mind. But what info do I need to get from someone who is a stranger to me.

Thank you. I appreciate your responses.

If they will share I like to know their name, street name no address numbers and city, does not hurt to have the state also. (There can many Smiths' Jones' etc.) I have sent with just a name and that work's too.

Hi Sweetangelheart,

What a lovely name!

I used to think that it was necessary to have a name, and to be able to visualize the person or animal when sending distantly. Then Spirit taught me otherwise!

I once did a distant healing session on someone I had never met before. We were in a chatroom, and she said her foot had been really hurting for 3 or 4 days as she had stepped on something and a sliver of it pierced her toe. This particular night it was really throbbing and she couldn't get comfortable or make it stop. I asked her if she had ever heard of Reiki, and she said no. I quickly explained what it was and asked if she would like to have some sent distantly. She agreed. Where she was, who she was, I have no idea (and didn't ask her). I just set the intent for Reiki to go to her (using her on-line name).

About 10 minutes later she typed in 'OMG, my foot is tingling like crazy'. Then about 5 minutes after that she said 'OMG, the pain is gone, Thank you'. LOL, I'll never forget that.

All I did for this was to ground myself, and ask for Reiki healing to be sent to "user name" for her highest good. Then I just let it go, and continued in the chat. I did not prompt her in any way after that for any kind of feedback.

So I don't think it is necessary to get too much detailed information, it seems sending Reiki distantly may not be as difficult as we make it out to be. Remember it is the intent that is the key.

I received distance healing from Reikimerlot yesterday. It was incredible! I felt better than I have in a very long time. All she had was my name and e-mail. I would love to be able to do this for several people I know. Do I need to be level 2 for this or is the intent enough? Are symbols involved?
Thanks Again, Donna :) Still feeling your blessings!

Love and Light, always
Tracey

Sweetangelheart,

/*\ Namaste :-}}

- I would say, first and foremost, get permission

- if the person is open to receiving?? all you need to do is get the energy there

>:-}}

- assuming you have permission?? I like a first name and location - a town or city is quite sufficient (though not required)

- once the energy gets there?? it is up to them to use it

>:-}}

- hope this helps

Reiki all around,

all blessings,

Hi Tracey,

Do I need to be level 2 for this or is the intent enough? Are symbols involved?

There has been discussions regarding this topic from time to time on the boards. Some believe we have the ability to send Reiki distant (since Reiki is innate in all of us), while others believe you need the appropriate attunement to send distantly. For myself, I cannot say about sending while unattuned, as I had never tried it. Perhaps sending love and blessings would be just as effective?

Have you considered getting your Level 11? There is a specific symbol you are attuned to for distant work.

Also another important thing to consider - permission. There is great discussion on whether permission is needed or not since you are sending for the recipients highest good. But, and this is important - is it a violation of their right to 'be' if you send any kind of healing without permission. Put yourself in the recipients position - would you want someone either known or unknown trying to 'help' you at all times? Isn't there times when you know you are going through something rough, but know it is best for you to work through it alone? During these situations, if people keep trying to force their 'help' on you, does it really help, or do you get angry and frustrated?

When I first became a Reiki practitioner, I didn't think it was so necessary. But now my thoughts have changed and I definitely think permission should be granted if at all possible, (depending on the circumstances), prior to sending distant.

It is wonderful you wish to help out by sending distantly, but please consider both sides' opinions and define for yourself if permission is a necessary thing.

Hope this helps!

With light and love,
Featherpoint

In absolutely agree that permission is paramount. I look at the board for people asking for healing and distance Reiki and feel a bit helpless. I pray for them and know that in itself can be powerful, but I would like to do more. For my father who cannot come to me, my mother in-law in another state, etc.

Yes, I do want level 2 cert. but my Master wants me to wait until the fall. She says she likes her students to work with lev.1 for awhile, get comfortable with it and heal ourselves before trying the next emotional level.

Love and Light to you also,
Tracey

Hi Tracey,

I can read your frustration 'between the lines'. Being patient is perhaps one of the harder things we have to deal with (LOL, it certainly is for me at times). You've got two choices at this point, go with what your Master suggests, or don't. But, time to practice and get used to what you are doing is invaluable. Learning to become more patient in a world that seems to go very fast, is just as invaluable.

There are many ways you can help others across the distance. Ask them if they would be comfortable having their name placed on the healing board here at the Cafe'. If yes, then please request healing on their behalf. If no, then honour their request. You can pray for them. You can visualize healing colors surrounding them. You can write a funny little story, stick it in a card and mail it to them. You can prepare a video of you, your family and friends and send it to them with your commentary. There are many ways to show your love and compassion, get creative!

Sometimes the best healing offered, is simply a kind word or gesture.

I have no doubt you will do very well with your Reiki journey. Take it one step at a time, and enjoy every minute of it!

Namaste'
