jonjo,
Namaste.
The Thymus is the Master (Mistress) :-}} gland for the immune system, not a chakra center, per se.
It is closely associated with the heart and throat chakras.

Dear jonjo:
This question ws also posted in reikilnks (by you?) recently and there were several good sites referenced in the replies there in case you didn't post it or haven't been back. (Sorry, I just can't remember!!) LOL
Barbara Brennan has some material about this chaakra in her book "Hands of Light." Not to misquote, but I believe she menntions is a newly evolving chakra which is involved in interpersonal communication. My own experience bears this out.
My experience with this chakra came before I knew anything at all about chakras. About 20 years ago I "connected" with with another individual in a very special way. Nothing had even happened to me like this before, but I could feel this person over distance. Almost like I immagine telepathy would be, but without getting worded thoughts. It was an experieence of sharing spriritual space in real time even though we were located at some (often large!) distance from one another. There was a sensation involved with this connection which I felt in this (thhymus or upper heart) area of my body. Later - for various reasons - the communcation between us experienced barriers and was shut down. I experienced the most wrenching feeling of emptyness in this area of my body. Almost as though someone had torn something from me.
The good news is that circumstances shanged and the other person and I were able to remove the barriers and re-establish the communication. Over time it has become perhaps a little less intense, but it is still very present.
I do find that my ability in general to "be there" with another person has grown and developed from this basic experience, although no other connection has been so close of intense.
Hope this helps a little. Blessings, batwings

Batwings,
Namaste.
Do you have a reference for where you read what Brennan has to say about a Thymus Chakra? I am not familiar with this.
The thymus is a rather ancient structure (gland) that tends to be less active as we grow older.
Since it is situated right between the heart and throat chakras it is not inconceivable that it might evolve as its own energy center. But I wuld like to read what she has to say.
Thanks.

Namaste Batwings,
Thankyou for sharing such a peronal experience with me. I asked because while giving reiki to three different people recently, I have spent much time wor each of them on the thymus area.
Today, with the knowledge gained from all the generous input of such wonderful people, I was able, when giving reiki to one of those people today to share some of my new-gained knowledge and thoughts anout what we were sensing, and she could go along with it totally.
In fact she said, the information seemed to release someething within her and she now felt free to move forward with confidence into areas of communication she had, until that moment felt fearful of contemplating.
So thankyou Batwings, and everyone else for all your input, already it has had a positively powerful influence on one grateful reiki recipient:0) LL&L jonjo

dear Firekeeper:
Well darn it - you would ask for the source!! I went and looked briefly today and drat it but the snipe has taken that page!!
Seriously, I can remember the text but I can't find it (in the time I had to look) in that book. I particularly remember the text because I had such strong experiential reality of that chakra. I will look further in the next few days and will post here the minute I do find it. I will also check the Diane Stein (Reiki Essentials) as it might have been in there.
In the meantime here are two web sites with references which you might find useful. Someone on another board posted these in reference to this question.
>. There are sections on "Thymus Cervical Extensions Glands and the High-Heart Chakra" and "Thymus Glands and the Heart Chakra".
In addition, here is another site > that may also be of help.
It is always good to quote source. Sorry I have missed on this one! Blessings, batwings

Dear jonjo:
I am delighted to be of use!
As a fun little side note: If you have ever seen the "Thomas, the Tank Engine" stories for children, you might recognize a quote there which I find myself reflecting on a lot lately. As his highest praise of any of the engines, Sir Topham Hat (head of the railroad) says, " You are becoming a really useful engine!"
Often in my days now and especially with reiki, where I am working towards being the hollow reed, it seems that there is no place for ego in my life ~~ for the "how great I am" of things. The energy flows through me, not from me. I do find pleasure in being useful, in manifesting (to whatever degree) the capacities with which I was endowed. The emphasis is more on the action than on status or being.
Many blessings to you and to those people you are working with. I'd love to hear how this comes along. Pleae keep me posted as you can. batwings
